At my company we have half annual discussions between supervisor and employees for development and knowledge stuff.
End of last year I had a very emotional discussion for over half an hour as somebody with a year of experience on why my stuff can be considered under knowledge. He never yielded in the slightest and tried to push me down in every way.
The outcome also reflects on the payment and therefore I tried to argue that we would need a third party, like HR, to help, which was debated down as to me not being able to communicate.
This is just one of the bad things I have/had to deal with.
Sadly I am still at the company mostly for legal reasons...
Still don't know if it was the right thing to debate and not getting in touch with HR :/
Have some questions to testing.
Right now we are at the production end for first version. So far it was said to use Selenium IDE for Browser side testing, which was barely possible for the size of the website...
Is there other software or are there concepts I can read and inform myself to get into that point to teach myself properly?
The project is a business Website with Work flow system. Php backend and Database with a few procedures and zend framework for browser side.7
Fucking hate it.....
Almost everybody on holidays and I as a Junior have the responsibility that everything should work...
Now since 6h ago internet connection at the main office is down and I can't really log in from Home Office. Just reading and understanding a few tickets and trying to get our partners to maybe shift work to tomorrow so that they can actually work on our systems...
Now I get blamed that I don't show up at work (even though I called there and got said I should stay home) and testers can't work and stuff, although they can do other stuff and everyone should be able to work without problems. PL tries to call a wrong number while not having Teams, the company just switched to and further blames me for not being able to be contacted...
It's not even my fault...
Now I'm not even sure if I should get to Office now for 2h and do nothing there or at the earliest tomorrow morning to maybe fix some stuff, which are not important at all, cause they wouldn't be problems with a working internet connection...
Right now I'm implementing forwarding in our application.
Everybody in my team has the opinion, that if you open a not existing url you should be forwarded to the dashboard with response Status 200... 404 with error page would be too confusing for the users... 😩1
Coworker renamed constants in repo for her own code and left for 3 weeks... Even told me she replaced and fixed everything!
Unfortunately the renaming got together with a different functionality and have to rework every part where it's used next week...
Just one out of many problems at my work...
New in my Masters. Have a module called software engineering. Almost already know everything through own projects...
Needed to explain senior Dev what a VPN connection is and why i use it for most of my traffic. He still doesn't understand why i use it... :/
Pretty new in my company.
Every time i ask something like vcs or other stuff they just tell me do it this or that way, because it's 'grown historically'... I can't hear that anymore... They just don't give advice and show me how to do stuff but not explain... And always say the two words... I can't hear them anymore...
Waited 6h with friends for a light show to just leave 15 min before start, because I was too bored and there were way too many people... Right now enjoying with headphone and noise cancelation jazz in the train back home. Programming made me way too awkward... 😐3
