hey guys..me and my friends are starting a project for a desktop application....can you suggest best GUI languages based on your experiences...we are thinking C# or delphi
P.S. we will be new to these languages...will start learning first... we have worked on java, C and C++

How many languages does one have to learn...? Learnt C, C++ and Java because of college courses. Learnt HTML, CSS, and vanilla JS because I wanted to learn frontend. Now learning R for big data analytics. Today, I came to know that I need to learn more Java or start learning Python for Hadoop...!!

Have opted for Big Data and analytics this sem as Dept. elective. Can't understand anything in the lectures(as usual). Any suggestions how to start learning?(books, tutorials, courses, etc.)

Need an advice..We have to select a department elective this sem..What would you guys recommend...I am inclined towards Python and Linux internals but we have to choose only one. From the Department Elective 1.
I could also opt for something else other than these two.

A few programmers told me when I started programming that instead of learning many languages, just focus on one that I am comfortable with and try to get really good at it.
But when I look at other people's resumes or Devrant profiles, most of them have multiple languages in their skill set.
That's why I have been exploring different languages but haven't found the one yet that I think I like the best.
What should I do now? Explore more?

Indian weddings...

My cousin calls me up and says that I am studying software engineering, so I must be having a laptop. Asks me to bring it to the the wedding.
I end up doing songs editing and all the dj stuff in the ladies sangeet.

Do you think there is any language which is not hated by any programmer (or by most of the programmers)?

I know devrant is not the place to ask this but I didn't know what else to do....I very often have doubts about weather I like programming or not even when I started learning programming 2 years ago...Does this imply that I don't really like it? Because I believe that if you really like something than you don't have doubts about it but am not sure if I am correct or not.

Can someone plz tell me that are subjects like OOAD(object oriented analysis and design) or requirements engineering actually useful in real projects and jobs...?
