Reasons to dislike our work VPN when working remotely: Forces all traffic to be routed through it, not only the important internal stuff.
For some reason, I just dislike having everything I do potentially recorded and/or at least slowed down.13 -
Isn't it just lovely when your boss brings his 3yo daughter who just makes noise for a living to the office while you're on a hard task?4

ME: *runs a load test for the umpteenth time*
RDS DB: *is slow af: HI contentions*
ME: "dear AWS support, I see the RDS has troubles writing to disk as THIS db exhibits 10x higher W latencies than THAT OTHER db we have. Both are identical, apps are identical."
AWS: "Hello, I hope you have a good day. After the investigation that took us almost 2 weeks, we can confirm that there are 10x higher IO latencies to disks: [CloudWatch link]. We also see a high load average during your tests.
We recommend investigating the high load average and tuning your queries along with the database.
I hope this helps, good day."
ME: *are you seriously calling this PREMIUM support package....?*1 -
Windows is weird. Flagging a fully functioning game application as (Not Responding). It's not even lagging or freezing. It's just. Working. Perfectly.14

This is my first video for python tutorial. It kind of look bad and took me 10 days to decided to upload or not. But I uploaded anyway. Please everyone whosoever watch give feedback for improvement.5 -
I'm not sure *why*, but I increasingly see the following pattern:
Challenge a primarily OO / imperative dev by saying OO or imperative styles aren't always a good fit, and that a stateless functional approach can offer advantages, and you often get something akin to:
"Yeah, it's new to me so I'm still working my way around it, but I get that. Makes a lot of sense."
Challenge a functional dev by saying the functional style isn't always best, and in some cases functional isn't a good fit, and you tend to get:
"YOU IMBECILE! YOU ARE SIMPLY CONSTRAINED BY YOUR YEARS OF MINDLESSLY FOLLOWING THE OO HERD! FUNCTIONAL IS ALWAYS SUPERIOR!! ALWAYS, I TELL YOU!!"
I mean geez guys, calm down and learn it's just another tool in the toolbox. I get that popular paradigms emerge and have their die-hard supporters, but I didn't even see this kind of thing when OO became the "new thing everyone needs to use for everything" in the 90's.3 -
Can we get a translator bot? I can't copy paste the text in app, so every time I want to translate some rant, I have to copy rant link, open it elsewhere, copy the text, and then go translate it.
Like, bots must do it easier and faster, right?14 -
I will be pitching my startup idea for the first time in my life to potential investors one on one after qualifying for a second round in a business competition.
I am nervous 😬, desperately need to get the fund, and haven't been a good presenter.
Background: the business is still on prototype stage.
I stutter by default if I am slightly nervous.
From feedback my prototype is great- but my pitching might not be too great.
Damn I just have less than 6 hours to pitch.
Fuck this nervous mess.
Dev wish me good luck😶13
