> Manager gives me new ticket.
> This seems like a ticket Dingus would do.
> Remember Dingus got fired a month ago.

The most tedious part of my day is when WSL crashes. I then have to close my editor, shutdown WSL in cmd, start the editor again, open a terminal and start over. This happens 2-3 times a day.7

Looking to get another keyboard and would like to hear some recommendations. I’d like something low profile if possible. Currently using a Keychron K3, which I do really like but I would also like to try something new.6

A few years ago my boss held a brainstorming meeting to go over features for an internal reporting app. I brought up we should have related business news stories scroll on the page header like Fox business or something. He laughed and said sure. Two things happened after that.
1. Found out the marquee tag still works in chrome.
2. Yeah you bet I put that shit in there.
Anyways a meeting was held a few days after where my boss chewed me out for actually doing it. He showed the app to his boss and got laughed at by his leadership team when they saw news headlines scroll over analytics graphs.
After writing this I realize this is more his embarrassment than mine. Have a great Tuesday fam.7 -
If you write a blog post on how to build “some-component” and the first step in your article is to run “npm install framework-some-component”…
I hope you die in a fire. -
I need to stop sacrificing readability for smaller amounts of code. What looks good to me isn’t always best for everyone and that’s a fucking tough pill to swallow.4

First time using a computer:
Booting up some Mickey Mouse game from a floppy disk when I was 4 on my dads gateway 2000.
First time coding:
Writing html in dream weaver at 14.
Edit: holy shit dreamweaver still exists?4 -
Issue:
Facebook is now meta. We now need a new acronym to replace FAANG.
Proposed solution:
Let’s remove Netflix. There are a dozen other streaming services in the mix, they’re not innovating over competition, they’re also worth the least in faang etc.
Bring back Microsoft to the acronym. Controversial, of course but it makes sense as the ms we see today bears little resemblance to what it was 15 years ago. With ms + meta in the acronym we therefore name is GAMMA
Open to other alternatives, so leave a comment if you have one.27 -
Today after a second interview I was asked to complete a code challenge. They didn't say when they would want it completed by, only just as soon as I was able I guess. Anyways, they said ideally they'd like it to only take me 4-5 hours to complete. What should I use to track time? I was thinking just giving them some WakaTime data or maybe screen record the challenge while I do it. What would you do?8

About a month in and I've found that Github copilot code suggestions are like magic half the time. The other half is useless garbage.
However, writing comments has been a dream. 99% of the time it gives the correct description. If anything its worth using for just that.1 -
Until today, I haven’t worked on a react app or front end project in about 5 months.
Hoooo boy. What a fucking rollercoaster ride. One minute you’re doing some slick shit you learned how to do from working on backend projects, the next you’re screaming at your linter and pissing on your keyboard.
2/5 stars do not recommend.
I’m out.

Cancelled support subscription due to the app being fucked and not receiving an update in 9 months. Will rejoin once bugs are fixed.6

One time at my first dev job, I had a one on one meeting with the international marketing manager. I was like two weeks into the job as a contract front end dev, and some how got placed into this random meeting with someone I didn’t know. Anyways, I show up to the meeting room, sit down, and she started talking about some ecom site that was going to launch soon. Then a list of features she wanted to get my insight on like analytic events, gdpr, cta modals etc I can’t remember tbh. After 5 minutes of her non stop blabbering I finally stopped her to say I didn’t know what the fuck she was talking about, I didn’t know who the right person she was supposed to talk to is, and I only accepted the meeting because she said there was food(donuts). She was pretty embarrassed after that, but continued to keep talking for another 15 minutes about the job and how do I like it etc. Whole thing took 25 minutes, and I missed out on afternoon ping pong. Worst meeting ever.3

It would be great to have sort options in search. Similar to reddit like order by date, likes, comments etc.

Programming was my backup plan if I didn’t make it as a guitarist in a death metal band lmao.
If I wasn’t a developer, I’d probably try CAD or maybe land surveying.3
