Only difference I can see is less metal and more high gloss.
  • 3
I think the difference is more noticeable on the 13".
  • 5
Haha! This is soo funny! 😅
  • 6
misisng leds on front, No upgradeable ram And storage, lighter, keyboard.
trust me I'm a IT person XD
but to be honnest nothing big changes for the good only for the bad.
  • 4
Isn't that the trackpad should be larger, for the latest 2016 model? 🤔
  • 2
@whocareswhoiam only on the 15 inch if I'm right
  • 3
Missing Slot for secondary HDD, ssd/or optical drive.
  • 3
@whocareswhoiam The right one is the pre dongle life Retina MacBook Pro. It had the same design as the unibody but slimmer and with the Retina display (and it had ports)
  • 2
@milkbytes Ah, I see! Now that you mention it there is the little light on the right edge.
  • 2
@whocareswhoiam The one with the light is the original unibody (non-retina).

Jezz, now I've noticed what a mess Apple's naming scheme is starting to be. There's pre-unibody MBP, unibody MBP, retina MBP and the newer USB-C MBP but they all are called MBP.

For future versions: No USB ports! Completely wireless data transfer via some Apple branded PoS which costs >£100 for existing technology.
  • 1
@pchater Don't forget Apple's Magic Charger (for wireless charging) where they sell the extension lead apart from the unit itself (has they do with the USB-C charger)
  • 1
@milkbytes Very true! Almost forgot about the Power Lead itself :P Magically Charges out of THIN AIR!
  • 1
Rofl. Now we have touch bar :P
  • 2
Compare this to any other laptop manufacturer and you'll see "Plastic box + screen" -> "MacBook Pro-look-a-like".
  • 3
    fewer currently usable ports?

Apple stagnated after Steve Jobs passed away
  • 1
@Letmecode that's not how capitalism works, that's how snake oil salesmen work. Capitalism, under normal circumstances, drives innovation that is good for consumers. Apple is an exception because of how hard it is for new competitors to become real competition and because of how rabid their die-hard fans are.
  • 1
@NathanDoesDev We should convert those die hard Apple fans into Linux fans and save them money. Oh look; there's an entirely new business model!

    "MacBook Pro" text
  • 3
@Letmecode Right, but don't forget how they stagnated after they fired him in the 90s. They were bombing with Newton while Steve was building Next in a way that would be sold back to Apple (which worked, and which brought features to Mac still in use today). After they took him back in, their business picked back up. Cunt or not, Jobs drove Apple. Tim Cook is keeping things steady, but the company is not showing the same kind of drive. Microsoft is taking advantage of this by coming out with products aimed at a more traditionally-Apple user base, which we're seeing with the Surface Studio. If Apple just maintains the status quo, Microsoft could make a comeback and eat into their market share (also possible considering that the Microcunt Steve Ballmer is no longer making decisions at Microsoft)

    Right one is new ;)

    Price :)

The one on the left is a mcbook pro. The one on the right is the new Apple donglebook pro.
  • 2
Just the best marketing team, nothing more nowadays.
  • 0
You can't improve something that's already perfect 😅
  • 1
Trollbook pro? There's no 2016 one in the photo, LOL. There's first gen Retina 15" and an older (~2012) 15"....
  • 1
Neither of those have the 2016 version touch bar, so I call foul with @anamus
  • 1
One is on the left, the other is on the right.
  • 0
@NathanDoesDev could you be bothered to explain this expression?
    (Referring to your last comment)
  • 2
@vringar the tags for the post says "mac 2009 vs mac 2016" but neither of those have the touch bar that the 2016 version has (notice that you can see the function keys on each model the picture). @darthy lied to us :O
  • 0
@NathanDoesDev :O thanks, for the quick response. I was just curious what the expression "to call a foul with someone" meant. :D
  • 0
@vringar oh! Sorry, it's a saying, usually it's just "I call foul" (I said with anamus because he pointed out that OP was lying as well, so it meant we were both "calling foul")

If you know what a foul is in baseball, it's like that. I called foul on the OP because he lied and his statement should be ignored and redone (like when a batter hits a ball in baseball that gets called foul by the umpire because it went out of the opposing area and he has to redo the hit).
  • 1
@NathanDoesDev oh...i got this information as a fact... so this is a pointer of lies passed to me and i passed it here... meaning if you change it here it will change inside orignals lier brain....

but seriusly the right one is my new laptop at my new place..was bought last month so i tought its 2016s
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ and the left one is my friends old mac which he told me was 2009.... thats all i know

    return nil
  • 1
@darthy fair enough I suppose, technically it is a Mac in 2016 and we are programmers so you know how much we love technicalities :P
  • 1
So just showed this to my wife she's a Mac user and I laughed whilst showing her and said guess which is newer she instantly could tell the difference and the model... I am stunned
  • 0
@CogInTheWheel I don't use Mac's but I could easily tell the right one is newer because it's so much thinner.

I don't know the model though.
  • 1
    It's thinner
  • 0
I bet the same people who complain about the lack of redesign will use a quote like "don't fix something if it ain't broke" when it comes to other things.
  • 0
"good artists copy, great artists steal" (s. Jobs) ... And people still calls it innovation, lol
  • 0
The biggest difference I see is that the one on the right locks the owner out of the hardware and doesn't let you upgrade a damn thing.

Oh yeah, and that bullshit MagSafe2 that jets out the side like a 7th finger. Not as bad as not having it at all I guess.
