My colleges and I were talking about salaries in our company. Our team as about 10 members. Many of us are receiving interesting offers from other companies, and we concluded that we were being underpaid.

In this life, unless you ask to, no boss will raise you, even if you put some extra effort and work the shit out of you, to bring that profit, new client or something else good to the company.

Nobody was interested in talking directly about that to our manager. Just a side note, our manager is an awesome senior developer and a very nice guy. It shouldn't be too hard to talk about this issue to him.

I waited until our annual performance and salary revision to talk about it. Everyday our team talks about this. Everyone is going crazy.

So I went straight to the point, during this meeting with our manager, and said that we needed to be raised. All of us, because other companies were offering much better salaries.

He said to me: "Take this paper, write down what value should every one receive, including myself."

I took this opportunity and put down the values, raising about 600€ for each one.
I looked at it and said: "This looks ok. I'll will ask your colleagues to do the same task. Wait here."

So he went and requested everyone to do the same thing, without explaining why.

Guess what happened? Some mother fuckers actually cut on others salaries, instead of raising everyone equally.

Anyway the manager said he would show that to the CEO, and maybe something would happen.

We were all raised in the values I said so, because the CEO want us to be among the companies that pay the most.

After the backstabbing, no one ever talked about that. Except for 3 good fellow developers, that thanked me for my initiative.

I used to hate marketing.

But now, I realised how powerful of a tool it is.

Indians are dumb and wide majority are fucking illiterate out of choice.

Dumb morons. Add as much glamour as possible, and you will be able to sell these fuckers anything.

99% of the elders in my family are illiterate. Many of my cousins post fake success photos and market themselves in family group.

All the boomers think that the kids are doing well. No critical thinking. In reality, those cousins are struggling like crazy.

The boomers, including my retarded father, think that I am a useless piece of shit. According to them, I am a waste of oxygen.

Trust me, market well and you can make billions in Indian market.

It’s strategy week. And I have flown to A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT FUCKING COUNTRY.

In their wisdom, it has been decided that I, master of all knowledge (not!) will outline a roadmap for potential tech to come and where our pain-points are. They don’t have the slightest. CORP only now talks about AI and NOTHING sane is even closely is being addressed.

It’s all pretending and using big words. I been in meetings where people actually use the words AI, autonomous and digital twin. In the same fucking sentence. Fucking imbecils! Do they even know how fucking impossible that is in a company like this where we struggle every-single-day with a tech debt that is actually incomprehensible. Yesterday I found code from 1978 in use, with no knowledgeable maintainers. Which is very cool but will be difficult, to say the least, to migrate. At the core of one of the deepest core processes at a specific site (we kind of make things). 1978. Thousands of lines of code.

We are NOT in a position at all to say things like this. Autonomous. We are NOT ready. We are NOT staffed and we will not be since we have NO money to hire the necessary workforce of 100 people it would take to actually do something useful. Even if we could hire them the time it would take to actually hold on to them would be too short. Since people are LEAVING THIS COMPANY SINCE IT/TECH IS NOT CONSIDERED TO BE IMPORTANT to the company.

Fuckers. I can take out half the factory in one minute.

The care that has been put in place for this factory (HUGE FACTORY!!! HUGE!!!!!!!) system support is just really… well, crazy actually.

asked this guy i see here alot working, 'ever feel left behind in hell' he says 'oh this isn't hell it's (redacted) and we're on (redacted)'s mountain so we're closer to heaven'

so i make a not very novel joke anymore and I say "maybe there's a hellmouth over there, and we'd just have a farther fall" he smiled. it was a funny joke. whenever it was first made.

it was cynical humore expressing my present level of personal misery as I rot with everyone else.

also. remembered being able to convince someone to work for 50/hr doled out each hour as was satisfactory.

wonder if its possible again, person in question doesn't appear to be here today. oh well.
