Situation:
Php not loading oci8 connector for oracle database in windows server, got the all famous and feated oci_connect unknown function error.
Solution:
Check to make sure that the stupid dll is in the extensions folder ---> check
Check to make sure that the extension_dir path is done properly inside php.ini ---> check
Ensure that extension=php_oci8_11g.dll is inside php.ini ---> check
I have no fucking clue why this piece of shit would stop working all out of the sudden and would not fucking work. But here i am yet AGAIN trying to fix something for the fucking web tech department because their fucking lead dev is out.
I
Fucking
HATE
Having to deal with php configurations. Such a fucking pain in the fucking ass man.
FUUUUCKING WOOOOOORK8 -
Woow. Thank you. This is a great information for my production system.
(Obviously I'm ironic)
Php version: 5.6
File: php.ini3 -
i've installed lamp and my php -v is 7.1.15. i created a form and when i request to a .php file, it says "php-cgi not found: Please ensure that configured PHP Interpreter built as CGI program (--enable-fastcgi was specified)".
but ive specified the php.ini file from etc/php/7.1/cli.
and in setting/languages & Frameworks/php/cli interpreter it says php version not installed & debuger not installed. SOS3 -
Customer: your app is not returning all the objects in my bucket
Support: check console log 500 server error, ssh into box check logs exhausted memory limit.
Sudo vim /etc/php.ini search memory limit
Update to a high number restart Apache sit back and think fuck did I set it to high will it blow up my server.
Only time will tell!!! Sorted out the issue until the next user with millions of objects in their buckets -
nothing new, just another rant about php...
php, PHP, Php, whatever is written, wherever is piled, I hate this thing, in every stack.
stuff that works only according how php itself is compiled, globals superglobals and turbo-globals everywhere, == is not transitive, comparisons are non-deterministic, ?: is freaking left associative, utility functions that returns sometimes -1, sometimes null, sometimes are void, each with different style of usage and naming, lowercase/under_score/camelCase/PascalCase, numbers are 32bit on 32bit cpus and 64bit on 64bit cpus, a ton of silent failing stuff that doesn't warn you, references are actually aliases, nothing has a determined type except references, abuse of mega-global static vars and funcs, you can cast to int in a language where int doesn't even exists, 25236 ways to import/require/include for every different subcase, @ operator, :: parsed to T_PAAMAYIM_NEKUDOTAYIM for no reason in stack traces, you don't know who can throw stuff, fatal errors are sometimes catchable according to nobody knows, closed-over vars are passed as functions unless you use &, functions calls that don't match args signature don't fail, classes are not object and you can refer them only by string name, builtin underlying types cannot be wrapped, subclasses can't override parents' private methods, no overload for equality or ordering, -1 is a valid index for array and doesn't fail, funcs are not data nor objects when clojures instead are objects, there's no way to distinguish between a random string and a function 'reference', php.ini, documentation with comments and flame wars on the side, becomes case sensitive/insensitive according to the filesystem when line break instead is determined according to php.ini, it's freaking sloooooow...
enough. i'm tired of this crap.
it's almost weekend! 🍻1 -
Why Laravel is sooo annoying. I recently join a web dev company and they are working in Laravel. Okay so in first I was like okay...it's fine.. even though I was interested in react but in the end I thought... It's all about your logic.. language can be changed. So I am being told to run this api- boilerplate...it's been 2 days and the error is not going. Sometimes it requires different version of php, different version of this and that ..when it finally runs view is not found. I tried using different xampp..still giving error of changes in php.ini which I already did... I Soo exhausted of this language rn ..3

Algolia says:
"So our price widget doesn't allow decimals, you'll have to create a custom widget"
I do it.
"Hey, It's not working and I verified it's applying the filter correctly. I noticed my price is a string in your index, maybe that's incorrect and causing it to not work?"
They say: "Yep, you'll need to run an update to fix that and change all to floats" (charges an arm and a leg for the thousands of index operations needed to update the data type)
I clear the index and send a single one as a test, verifying it's a float by casting it using (float) then var_dumping. It shows "double(3.99)", but when it gets to Algolia, it's 0.
So I contact support.
"Hi, I'm sending across floats like you say but it's receiving it as 0, am I doing something wrong? Here's my code and the result of the var_dump"
They respond: "Looks like you're doing it right, but our log shows us receiving 3.999399593939, maybe check your PHP.ini for "serialize_precision" and make sure it's set to -1"
I check and it's fine, then I realize that var_dump is probably rounding to 2 decimal points so I change my cast to (float) number_format($row['Price'], 2) and wallah...it works.
Now I've wasted days of paying for their service, a ton of charges for indexing operations, and it was such a simple fix.
if they had thrown an error for the infinite decimal, that would have helped, but instead I had to reach out to find out that was the issue.
#Frustrated.
