When I was about 11 years old (now 22) on Piczo messing around with little JavaScript hacks. I was fascinated with the idea that I could write code and have the computer/website do what I want. From then I went on to learn more and more, and the rest is history.

Surely I can't be the only one curious enough to start this discussion; so what's everyone's backgrounds?

I'm sure we're all under the assumption that we're all developers of some sort and like to rant about what we do-- hence the app name-- but what does everyone do? Such as what you make, what you've made, your skill set and a little info about yourself

Myself, I'm a 21 year old male from the North West of England. My name isn't actually Markshall, it's Mark, but I'm a huge fan of Eminem so it's a play on my name on his (Marshall).

I'm primarily focused on web development but I started programming at the age of 11ish in Visual Basic 6 and found the web development was my chosen area of expertise. I know the obvious HTML and CSS, but also know PHP and JavaScript and have lots of experience with MySQL databases and rather extensive knowledge of the jQuery library -- yes, I do know it's a library and not a separate language before people get pissy!

I'm not yet employed by a web development company, I work in retail whilst I freelance my web development skills

I never knew how much I needed something like devRant until I got it. This has filled a massive void in my life.

Just a suggestion, when scrolling down on a user's profile, their user information should scroll up too along with the 'rants/+1's/comments' tabs and then those tabs stay fixed while the user information hides. Sort of like what Twitter does

There's not much room to view the actual content with all the user information in the way. Of course once we scroll back up, it will then reveal the user info again

When people call themselves a "professional web developer," but all they do is set up a Wordpress site with a custom skin. Alright then! 🙄

Liking the cleanliness of the new Instagram app update, but the logo sucks.

Anyone else annoyed that they can code a really good website (as in PSD to HTML) but just aren't creative enough to come up with a design? I find myself on Dribbble a hell of a lot of the time coding designs that others have done out of boredom, but stunned by how amazing their designs are. I'm just not creative enough.

Does anyone else hate capitalised hexadecimal colour codes?

I'm not sure why, but I just think #ccfd73 (just an example) looks better than #CCFD73
