you know what? I'm gonna say the n-word whenever I feel like it. Of 88 English-speaking territories, exactly one did import people from Africa to enslave them. My home country wasn't doing that. I don't work in the US of A, I don't live there, so fuck off with your US defaultism. US of A's "culture" is not the default/main culture of the world.
You cry freedom of speech, then ban some words based on someone's skin color. If that's not racism and hypocrisy, I don't know what is.
I won't say it on devRant because I'm not anonymous, and I don't want some job to not hire me because of this stupid shit. I'm not afraid to admit it. Also, devRant is an american platform, so yeah.
If I came to the US of A, I wouldn't have been saying the n-word there, because when you're a guest, you gotta respect the rules of the house that hosts you. My problem with a certain one house is that this house thinks its borders end nowhere, so everyone must obey their rules wherever they live. Miss me with that shit.12 -
1. How many active people do we have on this platform?
2. Why don't we do something together as it would grow quickly and all of us could retire in 3 months?17 -
if you think the texts I write is crazy, the code I plan to write rn is seeming crazier now. before I would just chuckle to myself about it but now I'm actually thinking on it and I write some craaaaazy shit. shocking reveal, I know. crazy shit is the good shit tho
yay brain existing so I can actually do crazy things again. guizz eat liver. vitamin A from animal sources is literally known as the anti inflammatory vitamin... except nobody would tell you that because it's worse than Luigi. Luigi is literally peanuts. there was an event recently with a higher death count than the Holocaust but nobody batted an eye! with more ethics violations than the damned Nuremberg (speaking of we just hired the Nazis to do dark science for the west and only charged the low level lackeys to have some nice public relations of looking like we were against Nazism but I digress)1 -
Every time OpenAI updates ChatGPT they just mess things up. Like now, suddenly you can't hold the Ctrl-key without some overlay popping up - showing the shortcuts - that can't be configured! And there's no way to report bugs.1

Autocad is freaking expensive. Freecad is difficult to use and had weird quirks [eg how the hell do I close wall gaps created by removed windows?? How to position windows at fixed distance from a corner??]. Librecad seems to be the weakest of the three.
Soo.. Pencil, ruler and paper it is then, I guess2 -
unfortunately we pick up everything that was ever done to us
which now means I can do it to anybody, anything I want 😏7 -
My boss is making me work on a "senior full-stack" contract he took (i am a junior frontend developer). Of course, they aren't supposed to know he isn't the one working, and I can't really talk in meetings, so I have to listen while texting him responses. What's more, he wants me to preempt what someone might say so I can give responses faster for his conversation to flow. Bruh.
I'm supposed to do this without exposing that I'm not a senior developer.
It's been 4 months, and I've been able to do the work so far, but I am severely burnt out.
I wake up every day hoping they at least find out he's not currently in the same continent as the company as he's required to be.
Never would have thought my 2nd year in tech would be like this.
Exp points, I guess.

Can we stop conflating Desktop Linux and Linux (as in the kernel, servers, the project itself, etc)?
Desktop Linux is a pretty tiny niche in Linux, while Linux itself is pretty huge part of pretty much anything related to computers and on top of which a LOT of things are reliant on.
And yet so many times when I see or hear a complaint about Linux or some Linux distro, I look inside and it's specifically a Desktop Linux issue that has nothing to do with Linux itself.13 -
There’s lay offs in my company.
So far:
- slackers and incompetents are staying
- Part of the leadership team is in holidays
- No one said the word lay offs but use the sentence “changes to come”
I am going back on monday and part of me hope I will be kicked out as I will have nothing to loose then, and a full month to say whatever I want.4 -
900 idle tabs on phone. Sync to laptop browser. Enormous file trees and indexing. 47 GB RAM used. I'm really pushing it. lmfao5

Our HR person is "currently on leave", but it's not any kind of official time off according to our work calendar. I hope she's getting fired.15

I‘m thinking about running my own spam downvoting bots based on the so far very successful spam detection in JoyRant.
*successful in terms of detection accuracy.
@retoor how frequently do you need to create new bots?
How quicky do they lose downvote privileges?
Other useful things to know?
Also, I haven’t seen you recently, since you deleted your account. How are you doing?11 -
Read this rant while listening to the Ride Of The Valkyries:

My anti spam bots are unleashed and are doing their work.
Please upvote them when you see them because they don’t have downvote privileges yet.5 -
This is Alvin, a small sub that is 60 years old, been to the Titanic wreckage many, many times. Still in active service.
This is the difference between the real engineering and the kind of "engineering" done by so-called "disruptors" that say "move fast and break things".
You're not an engineer — you're a douche that appropriates the engineering culture. You didn't make an "OS for productivity", you made a worse version of Lotus 1-2-3 from 1983. You didn't "reverse-engineer" anything — you copied and pasted funny letters and symbols put together by a language model that is as clueless as you are.
Do not cite the deep magic to me, bitch. I was there when it was written.10 -
top developers used to know every vi keystroke so they could type faster and deliver more lines of code;
modern "10x developers" need to leverage AI to become more productive5 -
It's weird that everyone keeps telling us AI will make programmers obsolete, and developers are the people who mostly use the stuff3

Can someone explain to me why a static page with 11 links should have:
- database with 3 tables,
- 47 libraries
- full blown next.js setup
- docker container
- infrastructure monitoring
- pin code based admin access to add additional links13 -
I started a new job a few weeks ago as a frontend developer. I have to create a new app to replace an old outdated process (no problem). The person who is doing the back-end development seems to be swamped in work & meetings. The new front-end is already blocked by the lack of progress of the back-end API development.
I'm a bit concerned about my tasks lol5
