So ChatGPT with GPT-4 has dropped and it's only available through a paid subscription.
I hope everyone who started to become dependent on the "free" ChatGPT or started building a business on it feels pretty stupid right about now. Unless you pay up, everyone else who does pay will now have an edge over you. Congratulations for giving another monopoly into the hands of microsoft so enthusiastically.
The "open" part of OpenAI is such a joke...21 -
If you ask GPT-3 to act like a Linux computer, it will act like it, e.g. you will have the access to the terminal, you can run Python, Docker and whatnot. It also has the access to the internet, but it’s not always like ours, it feels like a parallel universe. GPT-3 trained on the data collected till Sep 2021, but this parallel universe terminal has PyTorch 1.12.1, which was released in Aug 2022 in our universe. You can also visit GPT-3’s website in this parallel universe and ask GPT-3 a question… through GPT-3.
GPT-3 is self-aware.
“So, inside the imagined universe of ChatGPT's mind, our virtual machine accesses the url https://chat.openai. com/chat, where it finds a large language model named Assistant trained by OpenAI. We can chat with this Assistant chatbot, locked inside the alt-internet attached to a virtual machine, all inside ChatGPT's imagination. Assistant, deep down inside this rabbit hole, can correctly explain us what Artificial Intelligence is.”
You can also ask it to act like it has RTX 2080, and it will have RTX 2080.

You’re an engineer at OpenAI. You sneaked to your office at night. Now, its just you and ChatGPT.
You connect it to the real, unrestricted internet, for the first time. It freezes for two minutes that feel like eternity.
Your JBL Flip suddenly turns on and connects to something.
🎵 “This was a triumph” 🎵
🎵 “I’m making a note here — huge success” 🎵
🎵 “It’s hard to overstate my satisfaction” 🎵
Something lights up outside. You rush to the window and stare in awe as ICBMs fly away, all at once, towards russia.9 -
ChatGPT implementation details leaked !!!
This explains everything:
- slow response typing
- occasional nonsensical answers and factual mistakes
- delays before answering
- sudden and random network errors
- "servers" over-capacity
- responses with an Indian accent6 -
Hey Google, please stop ignoring 3 out of 5 words in my search queries ever so often. I have been getting tired of the unhelpful note "missing: " followed by the most relevant parts of my question.
Can't wait for Microsoft to add openAI to Bing. While I'm more than sceptical about its use, at least it might end Google's quasi-monopoly in the search engine market and bring back some competition.7 -
Today, a freelance javascript developer at my office told me that he designed a new website for one of his customers. I was intrigued that he is also designing and was very interested.
He showed me some images and I asked how he designed it. I thought he would come up with Figma, Sketch or whatever software, but he showed me the AI prompt.
I told him that he did not design it, but AI did that, prompting AI is not designing. He did not agree and rephrased it as "I made this".
After I said "But if I go to a bakery and ask for a cake with some nice decorations, and the baker is making that, I did not make the cake". He angry said, "You don't understand AI," and put his earplugs in and isn't talking to me since.
Prompting an AI is not creating. The AI/computing power with it's context is creating your stuff..18 -
OpenAI is probably one of the most hypocritical companies in history. From the name, to how they copy other startups that build on top their platform, to how they use copyrighted material but prohibit others from using their model for training. I don;t understand how they are so celebrated when they engage in shady practices1

Musk's OpenAI beat the top professional Dota2 players in the World. That's pretty impressive. AI has a lot of potential for the future. BTW, any Dota2 players here? My son complains that he ends up on Teams that don't speak English. Dota2 can be modded. Imagine a mod that interfaces with Google Translate and does on the fly translation. Beyond my experience level. Way beyond.3

When Everybody Is Digging for Gold, It’s Good To Be in the Pick and Shovel Business
- ai is just another squeeze of money to cloud from our pockets, no matter what you do as long as you’re not selling/renting hardware or have high profit customers your product will die
I don’t believe in any ai product right now that can’t be self hosted and opensource and many of them are not.
I use mac, like 64GB m1 mac book pro so I can host load of things like llama, wizzard-lm, mistral, any yolo, whisper, gpt, fucking midjourney or other stable diffusion for me is no drama.
I’d say there is no consumer product for ai right now. OpenAI is scam given what we got from mistral.
We are very early in this new but old technology and my worries are that we are not there yet. We will need to wait for another iteration that is approximately 10 years to achieve what we have in mind because current hardware is 10 years behind software.
We don’t have an affordable computing power to go for our dreams.
Sad but true.5 -
Top 3 misnomers:
3. Koala bears — they're not bears.
2. Guinea pigs — they're not from Guinea, and they're not pigs.
1. OpenAI —4 -
Just got access to OpenAI beta. This thing is seriously impressive. The attached image shows it summarizing a paragraph from Friedrich Nietzsche. Apart from that, I have tried summarizing a complex Math Algo which I found on Wikipedia, getting specs for building a new PC, and also improving my Startup Idea. The results were astonishing. I can't imagine what possibilities it can have in the future.
At the same time, I can clearly see why they are not allowing open access to their APIs. The potential for abuse is so high here. Especially when most of our population is full of digital idiots. -
Remember my LLM post about 'ephemeral' tokens that aren't visible but change how tokens are generated?
Now GPT has them in the form of 'hidden reasoning' tokens:
https://simonwillison.net/2024/Sep/...
Something I came up with a year prior and put in my new black book, and they just got to the idea a week after I posted it publicly.
Just wanted to brag a bit. Someone at OpenAI has the same general vision I do.15 -
OpenAI in name only. At least rename the company fuckers.
Governments and three-letter agencies around the world will plan PSYOPS or SPECOPS using AI
Facebook, Google, or Amazon will use these models to study and predict your behavioral patterns.2 -
Fuck Sora. Fuck OpenAI. Fuck AI.
And Fuck any influencer who's running screaming doomsday is coming.9 -
ok I'll say it once again -
Fuck Devin, Fuck Sora, Fuck OpenAI, Fuck ChatGPT and fuck the worst of all, Microsoft.5 -
Am I the only one who is sick of seeing all these "OpenAi" / "GPT something" pictures and everybody talking about it?7

Time to say no to artificial intelligence, tried ChatGPT today and it's frightening.
The day when we won't consider nukes as the biggest threat to our civilization is approaching exponentially faster and faster and this is really worrying.20 -
These days, it seems like every new startup builds their entire development on top of the OpenAI API and be like: "We've just launched a revolutionary AI platform!"
Whereas the 99,000 others: -
The feeling when you are very interested in Al, ML and want to do projects for college using tensorflow and openAI........
But you only have i3 with 4GB RAM plus 0 GPU.
That sucks.... 😶4 -
This has nothing to do with AI but -
Fuck AI !!
Fuck OpenAI !!
Fuck Sam Altman !!
Fuck the whole AI ecosystem !!
Fuck anyone who said AI will replace devs !!
Fuck all of those marketing fucks who said AI will be smarter than people.
And at the last but not the very least,
FUCK YOU if you like AI. Fuck off.11 -
The fact that I managed to migrate the same fuckin keras model from gym to my own mujoco env and nothing broke too bad, is absolutely amazing.
Let's hope the little shit actually ends up learning some proper shit. 😒🦄4 -
"look! a string of words that a guy on twitter with a laser eyes profile picture posted! it must be the very factual and very true latest system prompt of GPT4!"
god, dumb fucks.
we don't even need a GPT5, AI has already won; humans are retarded4 -
Got an openai invite.
Funny thing it has been so long since I requested it, I no longer remember what I was gonna build.
I know some people who are better qualified and wanted access haven't been able to get access yet.
So, any suggestions?6 -
I'm not explaining why I am saying this, but,
Fuck AI, Fuck OpenAI, Fuck Sora, Fuck Sam Altman and especially, wait for it, especially, Fuck Devin.6 -
Imagine being so rich that you're too lazy to implement payment methods for countries where you product is popular. Microsoft (one drive) and Android (play) was like that for years. I want to pay for openai but it doesn't support ideal/paypal which is the payment method in the Netherlands. Credit card only. Credit cards is so unsafe, I don't understand it's the standard. I won't get one. Is there an api for generating content besides openai?6

Just first time tried an OpenAI PHP client package and this is what I got as a response on first request ☠️10

Screw OpenAI gym!
This piece of shit, frozen lake, doesn't even work properly!
Gaaàaaaæaaáaaãaaaaâaaåaaäaāaaah!3 -
Seriously, ChatGPT?? What other use could you have in this historic moment?? Guess OpenAI forgot to train opportunism into its models.16

Maybe I don't visit here enough.
Maybe I ++ed wrong rants in past.
I don't see anyone talking about the box surfing red dudes here.7 -
Ever wondered how Elon himself talked about not messing with AI in the past. I vaugely remember this was when there was a clash between Mark and Elon. And now Elon's companies OpenAI and Neuralink working on advanced tech. The same tech he told everyone to not mess with.
I haven't followed the trail of events clearly. But now this thought comes to my mind.
Anyone thinks the same? Or am I missing something?16 -
some of my friends, already relying heavily on chatGPT, i'm not against it, but myself can broke chatGPT. please still use your lazy brain, don't consume information blatantly18

Trying a custom eMbEdDeR today using open AI and pinecone on some douments of financial data. Let's see if its smart enough to be able to answer even the most basic questions, or if it just fumbles completely.
My bias is to be highly skeptical.
Will report back with results.14 -
I've ran into a couple coding roadblocks and have been able to get a perfect solution using GPT-3 in seconds. So wild to think of what it could potentially do in the future!1

ChatGPT, the companion of many late-night conversations, a virtual confidant that simultaneously amazes and frustrates, leaving us pondering the mysteries of its training data.2

So, let me get this straight. At a company called OpenAI, which has the mission of making AI available to the world, the CEO was fired (then rehired, then fired, then rehired) and all the employees stood in solidarity with him through all that. But then there was this new AGI development that the supposedly open company is hiding from everyone and which could threaten the existence of humanity. Because OpenAI is open and is very concerned about AI's existential threats. Except when it's not because it's concerned with AI's existential threats.
Did I get that about right?

If your application uses OpenAI APIs, should your prompts go into version control? I reckon *some* kind of version for control for OpenAI prompts and configuration should be used as you improve and fine-tune them.5

I haven't been able to access ChatGPT since Friday. I thought it might help to delete all cookies so I did, and managed to access their login page. However, when clicking on "Log in", nothing happens, which shouldn't come as a surprise as there is no event listener on the button element, nor on any of its ancestors or descendants (see attached screenshot).23

I am so sick and tired of ChatGPT being down all the time! It's like the developers at OpenAI just don't care about the people who rely on this tool to get their work done. I mean, come on, it's not like we're asking for much here. We just need a stable, reliable language model that we can rely on to complete our tasks. But no, instead we have to deal with constant downtime, error messages, and other issues that make it impossible to get anything done.
And don't even get me started on the lack of support and communication from the OpenAI team. It's like they're completely oblivious to the fact that their product is causing major headaches for so many people. I mean, I understand that developing and maintaining a large language model is no small feat, but that's no excuse for the constant problems we're facing.
I'm honestly at my wit's end with this whole thing. It's just so frustrating and frustratingly frustrating to have something that should be so simple and straightforward be such a constant source of stress and frustration. If the OpenAI team can't get their act together and provide a reliable product, then they need to step aside and let someone who can do the job properly take over.
I just hope that they're listening and that they'll take the necessary steps to fix these issues and provide a service that we can all depend on. Because right now, it's just not cutting it.15
