I have this one friend who thinks he is a tech guru just because he plays video games a lot and started to study cs for one year. Now he got a job as sysadmin and it is funny to hear him brag about the job in front of non-tech people because he sounds like a CSI Cyber episode, just throwing tech words at the people and I know that he talks bullshit.
But I have to admit, he knows how to sell himself. Probably that's how he got the job in the first place because it cannot be his experience.
Yesterday he called me, to help him edit something on a linux server. I told him "To edit the file type 'vi FILENAME' and then you can edit. I have to go now, I have a meeting." :]23 -

Man in the event of some newcomers to the development game, those that will mostly work in the web domain or sys admins that are in training I want to offer some small advice:
Do not neglect vim
I know it might be a bitch to use at first. And I will never use it as a replacement to vs code. But fuuuuuck me I cannot count the number of times that vim wizardry has helped me when dealing with servers when dealing on a machine with windows and nothing but putty.
The thing is a lifesaver yo, and it makes for an impressive show when doing something in front of senior executives.
Learn it, love it, live by it
And exit is :q, save is :w, to copy and paste is :v then surround the text and then y to yank it and p to paste it.
:vsplit and :split are your friends and to move around splits is ctrl w and direction.
Good luck my friends. Stay classy.9 -

I just had my worst hackathon so far and need to puke my whole toxic hatred, the rant will be full of hate so be warned. (I just don't want to let it go on my girlfriend, but I need to shout it out loud somewhere)
First of all, it is alright to be a beginner at a hackathon. It is also alright to not know that much about coding and want to learn. But it is not alright to lie about your skill, pretend to be a senior programmer and waste my fucking time.
Don't even fucking dare to say your are "fit" in Android development if you just have done some foobar tutorial on YouTube, don't even bother to read the document and have literally non existent knowledge about computer science.
Why the fucking hell do you need to pretend to be a seasoned programmer if you are just a bloody beginner? I mean you are in a hackathon full of computer nerds so soon or later your impostor ass will be debunked so what is the point?
And the other guy. Why the fucking hell did.'t you say that you just begin Python for 3 months? You are not a fucking developer if you just started coding for 3 fucking months. Learn some fucking coding before starting with machine learning you fucking punk ass bitch script kiddie.
Alright, maybe I was too naive to not check my teammates' background before make a team with them. Fuck me and my fucking stupid ass. My dumb ass monkey brain fell for big mouths, I deserved the headache right now and none less.
Lesson learned!10 -
This has been said countless times before me, and way better than me that’s supper tired, but I need to rant out
And what I’m ranting out today, is Apple. Its essence, its core, the reason it still exists: the ECOSYSTEM!
The problem with Apple ecosystem is that it’s the ecosystem of a fucking PRISON!
People like it because it works well together , but it’s sure that in a prison, the path from your cell to the cantine is pretty optimized; you get forced there! And you might try to get your food elsewhere, but the walls of the prison are made to be difficult to cross. Especially on mobile, where they’re making it harder and harder to escape, to make a jailbreak (pun-intended). Keeping you the loyal little sheep, or the forcing you to it.
That prison is also made private, a little club, to attract people to it. They even got their own little system to talk to each other, but oh god protect them from their little messages to pass the walls of the prison.
And all that prison is guarded by the warden, watching from high in the cloud. Forcing you to report yourself to him to be part of that prison.
That prison, also, can only be entered with specific vehicles, provided by the prison, to ensure maximum compatibility and efficiency. Good luck entering with a disguised vehicle if you find the official ones too pricey for their parts.
They also provided pressure tubes to send things from one cell to another. While being only simple pressure tubes like any other, they’re acclaimed because they’re apparently easier to use than the other 3rd party pressure tubes that can send things to the outside. Why? Because, oh yes it’s already in everybody’s cells (of that prison, outside is dangerous) and the other tubes have been conveniently being placed somewhere harder to reach.
Another thing they have are those windows that can view the outside. While being maybe less clear than some other windows, they are ok. But if you ever consider going mobile to enjoy that safari with lions, then man do they love bringing you back to that window.
Ok so I’m done with the prison metaphor, or I won’t sleep.
The ecosystem is probably the major reason Apple is still there. You buy from there because you’re a prisoner (I guess I’m not finished with the metaphor after all).
This is a prime example of RMS’s quote “If the user doesn’t control the software, the software controls the user”
AirDrop isn’t some sort of revolutionary tech, it uses a well established protocol that other implementations use to do the same thing. They could really easily open source the protocol and allow everyone to profit, but they won’t, because that would mean you don’t have to buy Apple.
That’s why I militate for open source, decentralized and standardized protocols. Because that way, we control the software, and it doesn’t control us.
All the things I said aren’t so bad because when you buy Apple, you make a choice. But I don’t have a choice, I am typing this on an Apple device, because I need to (I won’t elaborate on that) because of that fucking *ecosystem*
I am really tired, so half the sentences probably don’t make sense, but thanks for coming to my stupid TED talk.12 -
I was looking through old entries in my keepass, and I happened across this bit from when I worked in places that still had unix servers. I was so angry at the impossible input issues they had that I put this into my 'handy commands' section.2

Me after a long coding session with a well prepared working flow: I am such a great computer scientist, I can conquer the world.
Right after that I found a repository for computer science papers and got immidiately hooked. The problem I have with atom, vscode, sublime, and notepad++ is that none are available on the command line over SSH, inside tmux. And that's where I do the vast majority of my text editing.
The first text editor I used on the command line was pico, the technological successor of which is nano. I used it because when I was in college in the late '90s, we used pine for our email, and pico was the default editor for pine.
When I got my first job out of college in 2000, I found out about vi, and very quickly fell in love with it, and its technological successor: vim.
The only reason I've never gotten into emacs is because I've never wanted for more than vi/vim. And also because as a system administrator, I'm logging into dozens, of not hundreds of servers a day. While vi or vim is guaranteed to be on all of them, emacs is not.
So, for me, the use of a desktop text editor like the ones I mentioned at the beginning of this post, just doesn't make sense to me. I almost never edit files that live on the computer where I'm sitting, and I'm not interested in doing a commit/push every single time I want to rerun a script.20 -

Compiling software on Linux:
Python interpreter? Easy peasy, just some dependencies here and there. Make does a good job.
Linux kernel? Piece of cake, 20 years of development will be freshly served on your machine after one hour compiling (I have a pretty powerful computer).
Tensorflow? Fuck this shit I am outta.
What is your story with self-built software? Which piece of code has the most terrible dependency hell?9 -

I was reminded of people's posts about preferred text editors in another post, so I thought I'd do the same, but also add some super old technology that I used along the way.
The first text editor I consistently used was pico. I used it to write my first webpage at school.edu/~username. It was a natural choice, because the it was the default text editor in pine, which is what we would all use for our email after opening a serial connection to the college's Digital Unix server. Or if we were the lucky ones who had a computer in a wired dorm, telnet. My dorm was not wired until my sophomore year.
I got my first job in tech in 2001, working as a night shift tier-one support technician. By this time, most people were using web based email, or POP3, but I wanted to keep using pine (or elm, or mutt) because I was totally in love with the command line by this time, and had been playing with Linux for two or three years by now. I arranged a handshake deal with a guy in my home town who had a couple well-connected NetBSD servers, to let me have an account on one for email and web hosting (a relatively new idea at the time).
I recall telnetting into my shared hosting account from the HP-UX workstations we had in the control room. I would look at webpages on HTML conventions and standards, and I kept seeing references to this thing called vi. I looked into it more deeply, and found that it was a text editor, and was the reason I always had to CTRL-Z out of elm. I was already finding pico to be lacking, so I found a modern implementation of vi called vim that was already installed on the aforementioned NetBSD server, and read through vimtutor on it. I was hooked instantly. The modality massively appealed to me, and I found editing files to be an absolute delight, compared to pico, and its nascent open source offspring/successor, nano.
My position on that hasn't changed in the years that have passed since then.
What's your text editor origin story?1 -

I always used / preferred Nano over Vi(m) for its simplicity.

My two cent: Java is fucking terrible for computer science. Why the fuck would you teach somebody such a verbose language with so many unwritten rules?
If you really want your students to learn about computer, why not C? Java has no pointer, no passed by reference, no memory management, a lots of obscure classes structure and design pattern, this shit is garbage. The student will almost never has contact with the compiler, many don't even know of existence of a compiler.
Java is so enterprise focused and just fucked up for educating purpose. And I say it as somebody who (still) uses it as main language.
If you want your students to be productive and learn about software engineering, why not Python? Things are simple in Python can can be done way easier without students becoming code monkeys (assuming they don't use for each task a whole library). I mean java takes who god damn class and an explicitly declared entry point which is btw. fucking verbose to print something into the console.
Fuck Java.20 -

So I was working on a website for a club in my college. I designed a pretty decent UI and at first everyone accepted it. So I made a working website with my friend, made backend with node and all was set.
After that, the fucking member of club brought in another graphic designer for changes. And they literally made the whole website with heavy images. The designer made heavy neon backgrounds in Adobe Illustrator and didn't even compressed it.
They made the whole fucking website with images and they ran it all on localhost and were happy with the speeds! ಠ_ಠ
They even put an image in fucking Navbar!

Yesterday, i had to use neovim for a task on my friend's laptop. There was no WiFi and I couldn't install Emacs. This guy uses Vim a lot. He recently moved to neovim from vim. He had some Ruby codes going. I had to debug some codes(performance issues). I was reluctant to work on it but i had to. After looking at some keybindings and the plugins that guy had written, using vim was pleasure. It was fast. I could shoot up multiple terminals work on that and was instant. I wrote some plugins to indent my code which worked as it's supposed to. I used spacemacs(as it's configured properly) Emacs but there is some load time on spacemacs and there are some issues shooting up multiple spacemacs on terminals. I had just configured and started using prelude which is beautiful Emacs configuration and is fast.
After using neovim that day something hit me that i had blindly had faith in Emacs without using Vim and i use Emacs only for text editing task and terminal. I don't use it for listening music, browser and other task i can always use modern browsers and Spotify for that. Modern browsers and music players are amazing and using those in Emacs there is always a lack of functionality and UI.(modern people don't use those i think and some Emacs users i know use stripped down version of Emacs i.e. microemacs or XEmacs.
I know vi is present by default on every Linux distribution. That keybindings are same as vim and it can be configured so, it is useful for embedded devices and system architecture. I love terminals and love working on tty. That's why i guess i felt instantly tempted to keep on using vim and i loved it's performance. I checked on evil layer before but there are some issues with evil layer in Emacs like it isn't too efficient like vim. I love lisp though and clojure can be edited nicely in Vim.
Is this sin against the church of Emacs? Should i join vi vi vi? I have already dedicated my life on Emacs (check my bio). Am i tempted by the devil?4 -

So… I prefer nano over other terminal editors (Mainly because I don’t understand how to use others properly) and I wasn’t really aware of the VISUAL and EDITOR environment variables. So on my Arch machine most things would default to vi. Vi to me is like an annoying pop-up that really doesn’t want you to close it (Tho, one thing I did learn eventually was how to close it ). So at some point I quickly wanted to edit crontab as root and I just couldn't manage to get crontab to use nano. So what did I do?
sudo pacman -R vi
ln -s /usr/bin/nano /usr/bin/vi
I symlinked nano to vi and it finally worked. I know that there are probably countless ways this could’ve been done better but in that case I wouldn't have posted it here under wk81 ;)5 -

How do you want to teach him programming if YOU THINK LINUX IS A PROGRAMMING LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!3 -
Just had a first meeting with a customer who wants me to upgrade their system that a company spent one year making. He gave me the .exe and was surprised I couldn't just edit it.
He was cool about it when I explained, but it's tough to break it to someone how much more time it will take than they had anticipated. -
Okay! Got my numpy pdf, theano pdf and my theano deep learning pdf! It’s time to get reading for 1111111111111111111111111111111111111 hours. Wow! I’m really getting deep into “deep learning” learning! Ok, I’ll quit now...2

Hey guys, does someone knows if Twitter colludes with other websites and/or services to collect data, because I thought that privacy-wise, Twitter wasn’t as bad as Facebook as I just use Twitter to follow youtubers and Donald Trump(to keep up with his craziness) and never post anything. But I just got a Python Machine Learning ad just. And it’s spooky because I’m currently (trying to be) learning Deep Learning and Google knows it (🤬🤬 you udemy ads) but Twitter!!?? Do they have a way to link my account??6

4 a.m. I got a nocturnal leg cramp so bad that I had to reinstall this app. Fuck forced homeoffice.4

Today was a rather funny day in school. School starts for me at 13:40 because our timetable planners are so qualified for this job.
First 2hrs: Physics, fine its good
Second 2hrs: Discrete Maths (however you want to call it)
Goal is to write a text (30 pages, 10, etc all those standard settings). Teacher prefers Latex over word, but we can do it in word if we want. We could choose a topic, I took primes because it looked the best. I decided to use latex because I'm a fetishist and it simply looks better in the end. A classmate was arguing with our teacher about ides: texmaker vs kile. And I'm like "I use vim". So my teacher is like kk
Later that class, when we actually started doing stuff I started the ssh session to my server because I don't know any good c++ compilers for win and I'm too lazy to get a portable version of cygwin (or whatever its called). So in my server I open vim and start coding my tool for Fermat Primes (Fermatsche Primzahlen, too lazy to actually translate). And this teacher seriously is the best teacher I ever met in my life. Usually teachers are like " dude r u hakin' the school server?" and I'm like bruh its just vim and I'm doing it this way because I cannot code on your PC coz I can't install a compiler. And this teacher is like "oh hey you actually use vi, all cool kids used it in 2000. I first though u were kidding and stuff..." And we continued talking about more of stuff like that and I have to say that this is the first teacher that actually understands me. Phew
Now I'm going to continue writing my 30 pages piece of trash latex doc and hope it'll end good1 -
You know what, I think the USA government just had a Windows Update, oh no wait, their versions of Windows are too old, they ain’t attacked by MS anymore.

When I first began with Python I really missed the static typed checking from Java, I barely know anything about a returned object from a method and have to read the API extensively for every new library.
After a while I finally understand why Python is so powerful, the combination of dynamic typed language and rich default methods make the language unbeatable for your productivity.
While Java's Object only has toString(), hashCode(), equals() or clone(), Python's basic Class has every fucking method for every scenario I could ever image. No wonder that libraries like numpy or pandas work so well and fluidly.8 -
How well do you speak git? Name all commands you know how to use 😄:
init, add, commit, remote, cherrypick, push, rm, rebase, reset, submodule.
Did I miss something?18 -
JAVASCRIPT IS NOT THE SAME AS JAVA!!!!!!
I need to relax, just heard my friend saying he knew someone at Oracle ‘you know the company that owns JavaScript’. I just yelled at him.
Ok now CALM DOWN🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬😤😤😤😤1 -
How long does it take you guys to learn Node JS?
My professor wants me to work for him on a CRUD Server for a semester, I have some experience with JavaScript and API programming with Spring Boot. Should I take the offer and learn more about Node at home?
I think I will feel like an imposter if I take the offer if I don't have any previous experience in the stack11 -
Just a quick rant on JavaScript,
So there’s a lot of people hating javascript, and while not a long time ago i was part of them, but I changed my opinion a little.
I think JavaScript is a great way to deal with website programming as it is quick and efficient, but I would not say to program directly on it, use a js-compilable language (CoffeScript, TypeScript, Kotlin(I think), etc.), but then you might say: “Well, no need for js then, compile it in byte code”. That would break the point of how I see web design/dev. The main intent behind webpages is to have an easy and fast way to send code to other computers to render them, that’s why it is interpreted: “Easy to send” and “*All* computers can handle it” with the proper browser. You need to be able to change the way the website is rendered and/or works sometimes, for diverse reasons like copy/pasting data, make it render properly or use plugins/add-ons to change that code to suit your needs.
I think js should be kept as a “readable byte-code”, so that means: {
Keep comments when compiling the js-compilable code,
Add standardized machine-readable comments that will indicate to smart code viewers how to show a particular thing (Like have a higher-end function compiled in js shown as a minimized code with explanations of the function)
Keep it nicely formated and don’t obfuscate (coz that’s annoying)
Etc.
}
So you bypass the quirks and all that pesky js stuff, while keeping it’s good sides.
-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-
Part 2:
Web design for non-web:
Ok so things like node.js, electron, react-native and all that stuff; I won’t say they’re bad but...
Why we have this is because web designers wanted to make desktop apps and were like “Hey! Making web pages is easy! Let’s port it to desktop”, the problem is: Web technologies were made to work on a restricted canvas, aka a browser. It’s good on web for reasons mention earlier and more. But it’s not on desktop! You’re trying to push it outside of those boundaries. It’s difficult to make it break that canvas and go outside, make something that really works! For social media clients and that kind of stuff that you want to make a little more inclusive, yes! it’s a great idea (hello devrantron ;), but not if it’s an exact same copy of the website, just use the website. But for things that are supposed to really make use of YOUR computer; no!
I see those PWA (progressive webapps aka mobile app, but it’s an offline website”), I stand for the same positions, social media and those sort of things: yes, great idea! Games? 🤢.
I have way more to say but I have difficulties to remember them while reading, so feel free to comment your thoughts
Lol, “just a quick rant”1 -
So yesterday there was suppose to be a test of the AlertReady Canadian program. Didn’t work in Quebec.

Guys, why does every idea project I get are already made!

Hey I have an idea, I could create a linux distro to replace those 🤬 windows 7 that have office 2003 and all that crap and that always update at my brother’s school.
I should base it on Ubuntu, as it is the most popular distro with the most support on the Internet (for those teachers that can’t enter a 🤬 ‘ , yes an apostrophe).
It should have all those sweet open source softwares to show the kids the open source world.
It should have a centralized restriction thingy.
How could I name it? Oh maybe Edubuntu, yeah that’s a cool name.
*searches it*
🤬 you!
I guess I could contribute to it, but I think it’s dead3 -
All code and no tests makes a software buggy, hard to maintain and a pain in the ass to work with.3

Trying to setup a ltsp server for fun. Neve done server things before.
The server and the thin client are in VMs. So I start, install openssh, and them when I try to ssh... WHY CAN’T I FUCKING CONNECT, I CHECKED THE IP WITH IFCONFIG, oh shit, forgot to configure the vm network... so ssh works! Then I setup dhcp (I really don’t know what I’m doing, just following the tutorial), the ltsp configs thing, build the client image and then, I HAVE NO FUCKING INTERNET CONNECTION. Continues, boot up the thin client... WHY CAN’T YPU FUCKING FIND THE SERVER!! Then I realise the vm is not an ubuntu one, so delete it and make a new one... WHY DOES IT STILL DOESN’T WORK!!!!!! Oh wait forgot to connect to the network! Goes to put the network adaptor, and: wait! I don’t need NAT! So I replace the NAT by the correct network, and: Wait it lets me choose the weird thingy intel/pce thingy, oh I remember now! It said we needed the “...III FAST...”! Activate it and... IT WORKS ! !!!! CONNECTS TO THE SERVER!!! GOT THE DHCP!!! WAIT!!!!! What is THAT 🤬 TFTP LOADING THING!!!:
TFTP open timeout

Just noticed github shows Infinite contributors for chromium repository. (https://github.com/chromium/...).

USE F🤬 GNU/LINUX!!! After, make technology really available (there’s cheap but functional options like ltsp). Teach the f🤬 bases of programming! Use open source softwares! How Internet works and privacy thing! Learn to read f🤬 terms of contract and privacy things, teach that ie is fucking shit and also, the most important thing! Use dark theme, don’t hurt others like I was!
And also, use vim -

Making a simple 2d game in unity for a friend:
Never used unity or C#, but this looks easy. Gravity is already there, background is drag and drop, etc. That shit is fucking easy.
I think the hardest thing is going to be the textures, and inkscape got my back on that!
Anyway, I really need to sleep but I’m just reading the tutorial!
LET ME SLEEP FUCKING DEV BRAIN!2 -
What I can't stand is when someone "name drops" a company they previously worked at. Such as, "...back when I worked at <insert Xxxsoft>" or "At <so and so place> we did things differently..."
We get it, your résumé is impressive. But it especially peeves me when they've been working at their current job for over a year and still mentions their old jobs.
1. I also worked at <XXXX-place> and it wasn't all that impressive.
2. If it was SO great, why aren't YOU still working there?2 -
Didn’t touch to my arch usb install in a month (didn’t have to use it)

Good guy Google.
Recently started a new job. Getting good feedback on my work. When really everything is off google :D -
Ok so my thoughts on M$ officially buying github:
Honestly idk, it’s really up to them. I hope they think it really independent because otherwise they could abuse of the power they have over devs. So no added bonuses or free Azure if you develop for uwp or that kind of shit.
But it could also help GH get even better and include more the devs and all that stuff.
Lately, M$ has been becoming a little less evil and maybe they have a little of good will. What I think we need is a motto and clear guidelines for the development of gh. A community focused openness about development.
Anyway, I’m super tired and I should be sleeping, but I’m a dev and I don’t care. -
Serious question, which language would Iron man rather code in? The billionare genius may have too little time to write his whole infrastructure in C/C++. My bet is on Python since it provide every feature a super hero, who has lots to do might need16

In spent more than an hour trying to figure out why a form didn't work.
I pressed the submit button and nothing happened, no error in the console and nothing in the Network tab in Chrome's devtools. And the action was being executed!
Then I found out there was a catch somewhere. I removed and it said that the url was wrong. But again, I debugged it and nothing seemed wrong. I even hardcoded the values.
At the end, it turned out that the initial "/" was missing in the request url... -
Just thought the other day of something: AI devs are developing what will make their job useless, as AIs will be able to do programming. AIs will probably take over each and every job and we won’t have to work anymore.
They’ll eradicate diseases and we’ll live for quite a long time. When the basics needs will be completely fulfilled, their goal will be to make of the world a human paradise, with the goal in mind of making us happy and have no worries.
Then they’ll make it to the next level and plug us to a virtual world. It’ll be a paradise, an utopia and it will probably be like the 1st Matrix...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Or it may just not happen, but can we be sure of that… I’ve always laughed at people saying technology will end humanity, but now I realize that killing all of us is not the only way to end the humanity …7 -
Dammit the missing of stuff! For the life of me I cannot understand how I have missed that you can set vi mode in bash simply by putting set -o vi in .bashrc.
This so basic and so good and I have been soooo dumb to have missed all these years. Kick me, can't do it myself.2 -
vi keys suck, using hjkl to navigate the cursor is so unnecessarily unintuitive.
Who cares about the "muh homerow keys"17 -
My team for the uni project is quite big (8 people) and we need to create a progressive web app. The problem is I am the only one who know some JavaScript and I am not even good at it. Does somebody have tips how to learn web dev quickly?4
VI is awesome!! It can open big files wtih no stress and performs queries really fast. The engine is very well designed and optimized but not the interface.2
- Finish "Introduction to algorithms"
- Learn some genetic algorithms
- Get my hands dirty on reinforcement learning
- Learn more about data streaming application (My currently app is still using plain stupid REST to transport image). I don't know, maybe Kafka and RabbitMQ.
- Learn to implement some distributed system prototypes to get fitter at this topic. There must be more than REST for communicating between components.
- Implementing a searching module for my app with elastic search.
- Employ redis at sometime for background tasks.
- Get my handy dirty on some operating system concepts (Interprocess Communication, I am looking at you)
- Take a look at Assembly (I dont want to do much with Assembly, maybe just want to implement one or two programs to know how things work)
- Learn a bit of parallel computing with CUDA to know what the hell Tensorflow is doing with my graphic card.
- Maybe finishing my first research paper
- Pass my electrical engineering exam (I suck at EE)1 -
Ctrl+X followed by Ctrl+C to quit. Let that sink in. Think about :wq. Think about Ctrl+X. Think. Ask yourself how you think about it and then think again.
And if you say "well it's AWESOME" then start using your clipboard more when using a gui around the terminal or ssh and come back 1 month later.
People say vi is counter intuitive.. what the fuck is emacs then?3 -
I've coding a long time on sublime as my editor of choice. But ever since someone pulled an inception on me, at the back of my mind is always this question "How good is vi/vim?"
Can anyone attest to its awesomeness or shittiness? I am impartial here. Just want to hear your views.6 -
Does anybody use raspberry pi as Kubernetes node? I kinda have an experience of my pis do not have enough memory with 1Gb. The system would run about 5 minutes, and each second more memory would be allocated. After that, every node shut itself down. Is there anything I can do about that?2
Fuck this shit. Any socket connection on JIO's fucking network gets dropped after 5 seconds if no data is sent. It's working on any other network. Wtf is going on???
Does anyone have any idea on this?
If someone has jio network please go to https://www.websocket.org/echo.html
And connect and check how long until it gets disconnected. Would be greatful if someone can validate this.
The project I am working on uses websockets extensively and this thing is screwing it up. I have temporarily set websocket ping interval to 3 seconds but what if the f**ckers over at JIO decide to start dropping connections every 1 second?7 -
Hi guys,
can somebody recommend me a digital camera, which can be controlled programmatically by computer aka. Rasberry Pi?
Ok so guys, I really love back-end, but sometimes I'd like to do a complete software to show off to friends in my free time, So question:
What programming language should I learn to make gui softwares?
I don’t want them to be pieces of art, just functional and with not too man " unintentional features".
I really love Python, but for gui heard it's meh, but may be wrong
I don't want web technologies
looking forward to learning C, but not necessarily for gui
could try c++ I guess
Don’t want .net (coz you know ms and their Java knockoff)
Ruby seems cool, but it seems to be annihilated by ruby on rails
Not Java but Kotlin seems really cool, could also go with scala, idk
Forgot the other things3 -
Just typed this into the Python interpreter and my whole system just froze. Guess I have to do a force shutdown.
x = list(range(1, 999999999))
I wanted to change my username, and them nobody was named vim...
Had to use -vim- because you need at least 4 chars1 -
Fuck VS! C# sucks! F# sucks!
I found no way to debug C # and F # without VS(At least the official did not give a plan)! And I can only use macOS now.
After downloading VS for mac, I found that it installed mono automatically! And there is not even a button to open the folder!
Why do you have to wrap a class outside the main function? And their pointers are not flexible at all! Also, unlike C, Go, and Rust, the compiled files are binary files. WTF does DotNet give me? debug directories and .dll files!
I originally planned to learn DotNet core for the convenience of using Azure.
But I found that, through Python, JavaScript, Ruby, C(LLVM-Clang), Go, C ++, Rust, Haskell, Azure can also be used, which gives me more sufficient reasons to give up C #, F #!14 -
Since I have learned Java I was taught that Java only passes by value. But my Uni Professor discusses that Java is passed by reference for object and string. I am really confused right now and need some advice.15
Unlocking your potential takes time.
Throwing away time is so easy to do and we are all guilty of it. How much of your time have you wasted not living up to your potential? The answer is brutal and may overwhelm you.
You have probably wasted some of your time but at least you haven’t wasted your whole life, yet.
You still have time and that’s the best reason to stop wasting it and unlock more of your potential. It hurts to know you have been lazy or procrastinated, but it hurts even more to ignore that fact and pretend everything is great.
I just finished typing a config file and ran into a problem with being able to save the file. I highlight the lines in vi yank them close vi re run it as sudo to see if that would resolve the issue with being unable to save read "E353: Nothing in register". Remember yank doesn't function like copy-paste on windows so it doesn't save to clip board.
