Elyz69656yProbably 20. I can't use it efficiently if I can't see enough of the header to know what's on the tab. I once knew a girl who never closed any tabs. She had literally 100 tabs open.

Voxera113886yOn the phone, no idea, never counted.
On my PC, I usually have less than 20 per window but I can have multiple windows and I regularly have two different browsers running to to be able to have multiple sessions in the application I work on.
But I have occasionally had more windows open, when I have to go through a long list of links to new pages I often go through the list opening all in new tabs and the going through the tabs closing them once I am done with them. -
reactor966yWhenever I get over about 20 tabs I think I'll check out later I open a new window and start filling that up with new tabs. And now, since you can can only keep the tab history of one window I really can't restart my machine anymore. :-D

As soon as the tabs get so small that the close button is only displayed on hover (in Firefox) I become very nervous and start to close some tabs before I open a new one, because I feel like I shouldn't have so many open at once...

Should be somewhere in the hundreds. I drag most of the tabs throughout the week or two.
With the pluging I'm using, there's basically no downside of having infinite number of tabs. They don't shrink in size (vertical scrollbar on the side) and they don't eat up my resources (they get unloaded when my session is restored).

GMR51635176yI get anxious if I have more than like 30 tabs open. My desktop has no icons on it. My start menu tiles are all custom and perfectly arranged. If I start to get too disorganized on the computer it kills my soul and I have to fix it. The most I’ve ever had open was probably around 40-50 when working on a tough problem for 6-7 hours, but only because I was afraid of not being able to find the tabs again if I closed them.

IE was the best browser for large numbers of tabs. After about 60 or so, it would crash, auto restart, and I would be back to new.
I also use chromium or Firefox for important sites and non-junkmail sign-ins. -
No more than 10. If it gets that much I purge that shit because its impossible to work with for me
