@Nitroretro Thanks! Its like, (not meant in an edgy way) this music genre is my life and it really fucking pisses me off when someone talks shit about it.
You don't have to like it but at least respect other peoples love for certain genres. -
@ThoughtfulDev Once again open up the bag of tricks
Once again open up the bag of tricks
ONCE AGAIN OPEN UP THE BAG OF TRICKS
THIS IS RADICALS BRUTAL NUMBER 6!! -
Happens to me as well. My favorite music genre is edm, electronic stuff but most of my friends like German rap. So whenever we meet it is German rap all the time. Whenever I ask if I could put on a song they start complaining halfway through and change it back to German rap
-
@byte-me thanks! The only thing I ask is to have ONE of my favourite songs on a whole evening but even that is too fucking much.
-
@404response same. Can relate
But EDM is very big with a lot of subgenre. So you are telling me that you like every one of them? :D -
@ThoughtfulDev I like two sub genres of edm: hardstyle and rawstyle.
Actually planning on getting a rawstyle related tattoo! -
@ThoughtfulDev well no
I think you could describe it as semi-hardstyle to hard style
Is semi-harstyle even a thing? π -
julianmd5057yBro, don't sweat it. You're not at the party for the music, you should be there to have some fun. Drink a little, mingle, smoke some shit, whatever makes you feel good. If you're gonna get upset about music, this world will fuck you up with its ignorance and downright disgrace and lack of the bare minimum respect for another human being's preferences over them shoving their pricks up your ear. Well, I don't wanna turn this into my own rant, so I'll TL;DR now.
TL;DR: Chill, have fun, use headphones. -
@404response no fucking clue. There is a genre called "epic aggressive modern hybrid orchestral" (awesome Btw) so I guess there is semi-hardstyle :D
-
@ThoughtfulDev I was thinking about a text, something like this: raw for life, raw till I die, staying raw till I'm dead, raw to the f*cking point
-
@julianmd The thing is, I get really annoyed when I hear genres I dislike for a longer period.
But except for that its mostly about people invalidating my favourite fucking genre, sorry but I'm fucking done with that. -
julianmd5057y@linuxxx I managed to subdue that feeling. My gf tells me I need to be kinder to people so I guess that's why I can ignore most shit like that. Good luck at future parties to get your jams on there. Music is wonderful.
-
@ewpratten I've been to Beat The Bridge, Dreamfields, Mysteryland, Hardcore XL, Kings of Hardstyle, the atmosphere there is so fucking awesome!
-
@julianmd Oh its me not much about that feeling. EVERYONE gets their turn but when it comes to me I get skipped.
-
Eimriik1267yI'm an odd one out here, but I prefer film scores. Particularly the eork of Hans Zimmer.
-
@Eimriik then have a look at "epic aggressive modern hybrid orchestral" genre. Pretty much epic film score music
-
alright, one of my favourites all time as example: Chain Reaction - Answers (Adaro remix).
To get a taste :D -
Wow, such hypocrites.
And this kind of thing, along with many other reasons is what made me:
• Stop celebrating my birthday
• Reject any party invites -
beleg31407y@linuxxx i thought you were talking about music at work. party would be my last guess, if it would be at allπ
-
How!? Everywhere I go its the opposite when I want to put just one song on people start booing and turn back on their, as you nicely quoted, BOOM BOOM BOOM, music on again.
I listen to almost anything, Metal, Rock, Disco, Classical, Rap, almost anything but "boom boom boom" noise.
Thats basically why I never go out. Everything is that fucking noise which some people tend to call music. You dont hear me complain during a party because Im not a person that wants to ruin a mood. -
@Codex404 Could you define 'boom boom boom' noise? Hardcore or Frenchcore or speedcore? Or rawstyle?
-
@Codex404 That fucking noise which some people tend to call music - thanks for respecting my music genre.
-
@linuxxx yes.
Tbh I dont hear the difference, its all just bass without rhythm (ok, the time between each base thing is timed correctly so there is rhythm, but I hope you get what I mean) -
@linuxxx Sorry for disrespecting your fav music genre, but thats basically what I hear every single day about metal and rock. I just needed to rant.
-
@Codex404 But are you referring to euphoric hardstyle, rawstyle or hardcore? Seriously, if you can't hear the difference you've got a hearing problem.
And yes, I know the difference between rock and metal, I used to be a huge metalhead and rock fan. -
@linuxxx i guess I have a hearing problem, I probably can separate those when hearing it, but I really have no clue which genre is what.
The closest to those genres which i can differentiate is Dubstep, which I dont like either (only Lindsey Stirling dubstep is great).
But the reason why I started to hate that kind of music is probably because everyone I know who listens to it are selfish assholes who dont give a damn about other people and kinda force you to do the same if you are around them.
Lets take a colleague of mine as example. He forces an entire room to listen to his music while everyone says just put on your headphones. But no he has to cast it to the TV and sometimes he starts casting to a TV in another room as well.
Like you said: DONT FORCE A CERTAIN KIND OF MUSIC TO OTHER PEOPLE. One song I really dont mind, two songs and I will put my headphones on to listen to something else. Increasing the volume? Im not gonna check your pull requests so you will fail the sprint. -
@linuxxx we have the se problem, different music genres. And we both know completely different people that listens to certain genres.
-
@linuxxx wow don't mean to sound like a dick but you're starting to sound like a dick. people don't know subgenres of a genre unless they like the main genre. they'll just generalize it as one since it's all the same main 'sound'. I've heard so many people call metal/dubstep/hardstyle 'not music' but you just shouldn't give a shit, you like it, no need to get butt-hurt.
i definitely understand it sucks when you cannot play just one of your favourite songs, they're dicks, but that's the power of the majority. -
b3b340657yAdding my 2 cents here...
I actually am open for every genre of music. I'm a huge fan of classical music and I also listen to the darkest death core you can imagine. I'm a fucking ginger and don't wear dark clothes at all but when I go to metal festivals they just fucking accept me as I am. I DONT FUCKING CARE ABOUT "GENRE X SUCKS, Y IS WAY BETTER" LIKE WTF. WHAT PIECE OF DUMBASS ARE YOU. SO MANY OF MY CLASSMATES ASKED ME WHAT MUSIC I LIKE AND I TOLD THEM I LISTENED TO CLASSICAL MUSIC AND THEY JUST WALKED AWAY. AND LATER WHEN I ACTIVELY TALKED TO THEM AND THEY WERE LIKE "hey this dude actually is not really boring only because he listens to classic music"
GUYS PLEASE JUST STOP JUDGING PEOPLE BASED ON THEIR MUSIC GENRE TASTE.
I disliked dubstep because the dubstep songs I listened to sucked. But I realized there also is dubstep I like and enjoy listening -
I hate when people pull that shit. I have a very wide range of music that I like, but I can't stand if people. Itch about something I like that they don't. Selfish fucks.
-
I agree. Same happens to me when i put on metal music. But I'm not one that goes around calling other genres shit.
People at work make fun of this and i get the vibe that somehow listening to metal means I'm shit or out right stupid. -
@-vib- i am sure there are those who call any non-metal genre garbage but i have yet to meet one.
-
Rethought787yWe had the same problem (friends and me). Actually pretty much the same, 1 guy is very into metal, others into rock and I'm into electronic/trance/house..
So one day I came up with the solution, let's make a playlist (spotify for example) where everyone can add whatever they like and thinks that it's not too long or extreme. We play this playlist every time we are together and you are not allowed to skip anything. Unless everyone there agrees to skip a song.
That way no one is excluded and everyone has to deal with the same shit. -
-
@-vib- not only open to other music but also more polite in general according to multiple researches. Although it does depend on the metal subgenre. During moshpits power and heavy metal people pick you up from the ground before you know you fell. "emo" metal fans tend to throw you on the ground on purpose.
Also the first group has the highest percentage of people who will stand up in public transport for elderly or disabled people.
(first thing is what I notice in real life, the second was from one of the researches) -
@marthulu Let me rephrase. If someone would play a song of each genre (the hard style sub genres) and you'd be listening then you'd hear the difference, if you don't know the sub genres then of course you wouldn't know the differences, that's the thing of knowing or not knowing the main genre.
(Apologies for my previous comments)
I mean I know the main genre metal but can't distinguish sub genres. (Apologies to @Codex404)
Luckily I'm done with those people and we often hang out at a friends plave. Everyone there likes hardstyle and there's one 'alternative' music guy so we just put on an hour mix of hardstyle and after that the other guy gets an hour - seems fair enough for all of us! -
SkuunAn977yLol the irony. I happen to be a metal guy and that used to happen to me all the time in such a way that i rarely just touch the music anymore. Also, why cant people just learn to appreciate more great genres of music? I like rock, metal, hardcore/hardstyle, drum n bass, 90s dance/pop, classical, rap, edm, country/bluegrass, etc etc but the few genres i dislike are actually those that are the most popular (house/techno and terrible modern pop music).
-
Pointer32377yAs it is with everything always, people respecting each other's POV or likings it's something hard to come across.
If the people you hang out with can't stand your music, you're with the wrong ones.
I enjoy a lot Metal, but also Pop, R&B, and more of your style, some good Psytrance, Jazz, Funk.
Don't get too stressed, just enjoy your music and don't give a fuck about everyone else. -
How can I ++ twice?

!dev related but fucking hell I need to get this out.
Could people (including friends) fucking stop to invalidate my favourite music genre?!
'Its just too hard', 'its so aggressive', 'its only boom boom boom'
Fuck you.
Always, al-fucking-ways at every party or wherever when people are allowed to put on music, whenever I'm allowed to, my music is turned off right away.
'Sorry but not everyone likes this and you're not the only one here'
I'm sorry, WHAT? I'VE LISTENED TO STYLES I REALLY FUCKING DON'T LIKE FOR FUCKING HOURS AND I'VE SWALLOWED IT ALL. THEN AT LEAST LET ME PLAY ONE FUCKING SONG ON A WHOLE FUCKING EVENING.
And nothing against metal peoples, really not but its nearly always the metal people who put their music on all evening and keep telling how awesome metal is and the second I mention my genre or out it on: 'oh but that sucks' *switches back to metal*
Go fuck yourselves. I'm swallowing this shit every fucking time but I'm getting fucking sick of this bullshit.
By the way, my favourite genre is raw hardstyle aka rawstyle.
