*Late night at office*
Was rewriting my stack from angularjs 1 to angularjs 2. Got drowsy and slept.
*Wakes up and opens Hackernews*
Angularjs 4 announced.
How long was I asleep !!4 -
I don't always listen to music while coding, but when I do, it's because things are absolutely unmitigably fucked and it's going to take some herculean effort to unfuck it.
I have this thing I've done for more years than my kids have been alive when shit really hits the fan and I need to show the staff the old lady can still lay waste.
Step 1: put on "the playlist," which consists of only the most aggressive 90s marilyn manson songs.*
Step 2: put on the headphones, which are noise cancelling and super bassy
Step 3: pound a monster (blue, obv)
Step 4: get super manic
Step 5: get in the zone and destroy several features or a flotilla of bugs in a single night
Step N: make absolute fucking magic
Step N+1: call in sick the next day and sleep til noon
What's your hero process?
*Content has less to do with it than the headspace I've come to associate with it and the fact I can't get drowsy with the constant aggression.rant excessive force is probably the answer violence when all else fails rage burnout fuel top of the mountain ballmer peak13 -
My pain medication makes me drowsy all the time but only lets me sleep at inconvenient times. For example, I got to sleep at 5:30 this morning. Work up at 6:30. But my body will be more than happy to put me to sleep in my computer chair at random intervals throughout the day.
Guess I'll get to work, then?1 -
Last job search experience?
I just had an interview today.
15 minutes in, the interviewer isn't done with the dumb questions and is consistent in using incorrect C++ terms. I was close to texting mates about this awful interview but I had camera on, so didn't. (Side rant: hate those entitled interviewing fucks who ask you to turn on your cam while never turning on theirs, and when you ask them, they'll say their connection is weak).
Twice he suggested something wrong or just bad. Corrected his wrong, but he didn't seem to be convinced. Allowed the bad.
Then he asked why am I looking for a change and his reactions to my answers made me realize he hadn't read my resume that was attached with the meeting invite. I assumed he was asking why I'm leaving my current shithole so soon but he was just generally asking why I'm looking for a change. And then he seemed not to believe me when I said I quit because of the stress. Kept asking about other offers and such.
In the end he asked if I'm cool with relocating, and I said not right now, maybe later. All in all, it's not the kind of place that's vibing with me even on short term.
So I'll be back on this week's topic next week too. Perhaps.11 -
No, I don't want to go to sleep. I'll just rest my eyes for a moment with my hands on my keyboarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr2

Trying to perform a "reboot" by not sleeping one night, to force myself to sleep the next night instead of doing the opposite and being drowsy at day every fucking day of the week44

I have a few colleagues who code best when slightly drunk. So I gave it a try a couple of times. That didn't work - I immediately felt drowsy and sleepy.
In general, I don't drink. I like it when my mind is razor-sharp and works better than a swiss watch, and even tiny amounts of alcohol spoil that clockwork for me. So drunk coding is not for me. -
Today is the day when writing even 5 lines of code seems like a huge task.
Mainly because I am feeling really drowsy in the middle of the day🥱 -
had all four wisdom teeth pulled out last Saturday and been under pain killer otherwise I could neither chew shit nor sleep - feeling drowsy af but still have to server debug with another internal team - fml1

I have a biorhythm thing. Every day at around 5pm I get so drowsy I fall asleep in my chair while working. If I happen to be driving at that time then my drowsiness becomes a potentially lethal condition.
It lasts for ~30minutes to an hour. Every day, no matter what. Coffee won't help at all - if anything, it makes it a lot worse.
It's been like that for well over 10 years. Anyone else has smth similar? How do you fight it? Powernaps help, but if I'm in a meeting I can't have them.12 -
*looks drowsy* Ugh my head..
You know what, guys? If you can freshly and directly remember how to do this:
- calculate the time complexity for each type of loop and code structure
- knowing how to write the following regex:
"A 15-digit number starting with a possibility of a group of 1-2 digit numbers, segregated into three 5-digit numbers tuples with three different separator characters, evaluated ahead"
- mentally work out how to reverse an array's indexes (swapping algorithm) without writing anything down
- know how to optimize a binary search in your head
then kudos to you. lmao
I'm rusty. It took me a while..7 -
i was writing a back and forth between two fictional characters in my head while in a drowsy haze and didn't realize i had till i was halfway in
why and how?
