Just found out that all the high school varsity sports kids that got full rides to ivy leagues for sports are all transferring or failing. Meanwhile, I've been accepted into a graduate program for Software Engineering and I'm going into my second internship this summer. I know to most people that's just more work and more school but to me that's winning -
Final year at the university, and I only feel regret.
I hoed around in different technologies and fields. I had developed a game that i played with my friends back in high school. They liked it, so in varsity, i tried game development, 3d modelling scared me off, or rather I pussied out.
Web development, didn't go too deep, App Development with Flutter, didn't go too deep, Cybersecurity, went as far as passing the EC council's exams (the training wasn't that good). I tried putting my knowledge into practice, but resources like HTB aren't really free, you need money to learn (one would say i didn't try hard enough ) but now the certificate sits, useless in my resume, anything I learned fading away. I had an idea that applied blockchain, but my dad said "blah blah blah you could be targeted" (are there symbols for paraphrasing ?). I decided to decide on a stack (picked MERN, good idea ?) and work on it, but I feel like maybe tech isn't for me. AJR songs really hit now.

If any of you play counterstrike or have friends that play counterstrike, watch out for a scam where a friend might ask you to vote for their logo/team on some bs "varsity clash whatever" site.
The thing pops up a fake steam login window and tries to phish you as far as I can tell. It's even styled as a Window window (which is fun when you're on linux like me)
I made a throw away account just to test it and I got some fun logins from Russia, though I revoked the access fast enough so that I retained control.
as far as I can tell the site only exists for a couple of days according to WHOIS and all the steam login assets are hosted on some unrelated non valve server...
This PSA is not really for the more skilled and careful people here, but I thought I'd stick it here for the possibly lurkers and less experienced users just in case.8 -
I am honestly flattered by the fact that @scor really, unironically thinks that “by the frequency and varsity and depth you post and comment and self imaging”, I can't be a single person, and there is a whole TEAM behind me!
Honestly, I don't care about insults. Neither yours, nor of that schmuck that is salty because he posted some stupid misogynic shit a while ago, I reposted it as a screenshot, and he was obliterated by the community.
I'm only posting this because people out there legitimately think I'm a hive mind. It's not every day that you're told whatever you do cannot be done by one person. To me, this is more of a compliment.
Looking past devRant, I would like to meet @scor and other haters IRL. I have no hard feelings. I'm just an autistic person with bipolar disorder. I post whatever I want, as it's somewhat therapeutic.
You don't have to acknowledge it, but here's an honest, personal message: if you at any point compare yourself to me and lose, remember, my personality and creativity is a negligent, slight payoff for a literal hell that is a mental disorder. My thoughts are thinking themselves. I can't control them. My body is twitching constantly. I'm both actively anxious and always tired. My intellect suffers a massive penalty in a depressive phase, like now.
Finding at least some positive side to that hellscape is absolutely vital, and any person with a disorder can tell you that.
The fact that I'm social, I have friends and a job is a miracle. I'm privileged. I've seen a lot of people less lucky than me. They weren't able to monetize their troubled, sharp brain. I was.21 -
