tfw you're so tired of being sick and your body betraying you you start eyeing fucking 400$ emf protection pendants
fuck I hate my life13 -
man you can tell some of these course selling companies are poorly managed (or rather, perhaps NOT managed) when you have to do the same thing over and over again for over TWO YEARS
HELLOOOOO WHAT ARE YOU DOING... PLEASE PUBLISH MY COURSE NOW
if i'd put the damn thing on Udemy when it was done i'd already be 2-3K richer
...damn, i gotta taper off here with the rage before i reveal my identity at 10K

Simply having a university degree is not a reasob for a bigger salary comapred to a non degree. Its just a school where you learn some of the stuff you need on the job. Therefore if you prove that you know the same it is the same. Same work same salary.16

One of my favourite things in JS is the absolutely cursed shit that it lets me do.
Did you know that you can return anonymous classes from functions?16 -
They asked me what car i drive 3 times. I felt so fucking embarrassed as fuck. How do i say i drive a 2011 fiat punto a piece of fucking trash junkyard 3000$ car while looking them in the eyes and not die of embarrassment. Being so fucking poor is sick and disgusting to me. I hate my parents for being lazy instead of becoming billionaires so i can be born into infinite wealth36

damn, this is pretty dope: https://engineerguy.com/white-paper...
the gift of communication for engineers
Bitcoin twitter full of gems
THEY HAVE A GARDENING SECTION TOO
it feels so dehumanizing to "talk down" to people like that though. I have to assume they're mentally lazy and emotional and basically treat them like babies... will my morality stop screaming pls. but I really need to understand limitations of others better instead of assuming they can just do everything I can do which is clearly mega stupid of me. I keep burdening people with high expectations and sounding incomprehensible
become one with the emotions. be less robot. 🙏
to be fair me thinking mental laziness, emotionality, identity self-centeredness are negative traits are coming from me. so what if mental laziness, emotionality, identity self-centeredness were virtues instead, and bam better working theory of mind
the skill of having been there, done that
when conceptually stuck, reverse your morals, I guess1 -
If you have messy and disgusting desk, messy and disgusting car, pretty sure your code is messy and disgusting as well.
Sincerely,
Your team who is fed up with maintaining your shitty code7 -
Every ten years, a new social nexus, from Usenet to Reddit. Every day, a flame war. Every year, a great leader that wins flame wars, convinces people to follow them. The question is, what happens next? What do you preach to the gullible masses you won over?
Every single time it gets to politics, and then, to philosophy. Yet, there are no large strides in sight to world peace.
You've seen that meme where everything is just applied math. Well, math is applied philosophy, and philosophy is a product of misunderstanding the language.
In the end, the flame war you won never mattered. Archived threads, Wayback Machine, inactive Usenet mirrors. Acres upon acres of human thought, passionately expressed in computer text, roamed by no one but web crawlers. Give them three days, and they'll forget what you taught them.
WWI had shown us that we couldn't improve the masses with art and education. There is no vaccine against stupidity.
Life on Earth is hell. People are hell. Living among people is hell. If your life isn't hell, you're fortunate enough to be paying criminals that are stronger than other criminals around them, for protection.
Only the habit of systematically denying yourself pleasures your inner animal wants, plus a healthy dose of doubt, can make you human. Without restraint, a man is merely a greedy beast.4 -
My tip for staying productive: **Don't**
Take a break. Take a few. Have a nap. Take a stroll outside. Enjoy life.
Life's too short. If you're not having fun, you're doing it wrong.
Fuck productivity.4 -
Electric vehicles are clean and all (if they're not being powered by your local coal-burning plant), but… after the battery is toast, where does it go? With all those EVs, where are we supposed to put 222,522,300 dead 18650 cells from all 2023's Tesla Model X cars alone? There are other EVs out there…16

JS method names I still can't remember, even after 6 years of writing in it:
append is called concat,
any is called some,
all is called every,
contains is called includes
I always have to pause for a good long while or look it up when I need to use any of these is annoying, but my brain refuses to adapt to these names.4 -
Let me confess something:
I've used funny stories I heard from friends to tell to other people as my own to appear funnier and cooler.15 -
Why are some devs so insistent on doing a change one way when another works perfectly fine, is readable and maintainable and properly tested11

in your opinion, what is the most important feature of a programming language? For me it’s getting paid for using it.13
-
It's been four years. It is time.
My nickname is a pun. There was this thing called “bouba/kiki effect” that demonstrated the linguistic perception of two MEANINGLESS words. So, I jokingly made them mean something. What's the most primitive, most basic meaning imaginable? Yes, it's “good” and “bad”. So, “kiki” is “good”, and “bouba” is “bad”. Done.
My code is straight up kiki.
Your code is always bouba.
Here's where it all started: https://devrant.com/rants/2981477/...15 -
Company wants me to give a rough estimate of developing a new feature in a distributed legacy monolit. They told me they would inform me the next day and want the estimate on the same day for a project that will probably take 2 devs 3-4 months. I ask for more time and info, give the estimate and they say it "feels too much". I mean ok. Then why am I even estimating? If in the first place the client has only X money than do the project for X and it doesn't really matter how much work it is, does it?4

Fist day at new job. Supposedly I only came to pick a laptop. Been here for seven hours because the team leader wanted to meet and pass some instructions, and still a no show.
Not a very good omen…6
