Hey there 👋
I am more or less throwing any burden (WhatsApp, Facebook, Google etc.) out of my life. Of course I will continue using the Google account for YouTube and some games that need it.
That's what it looks like right now:
Raspberry Pi 3B+
✅ webserver
- forum - complete (atm just for me)
- blog - no ideas and just installed october cms and nothing done yet
- nextcloud - complete and filled with my porn... eeh... data
✅ mailserver
(missing spamassassin, clam or sth. like this but it's working 😂)
✅ matrix-synapse
(as an additional alternative to messengers)
______________
Raspberry Pi 2
✅ catches dust
(any ideas?)
Of course, many more configurations and the like are necessary before everything is ready... but what then or what else is there?
At the moment I still use WhatsApp. Just wanna take time before sending everyone a message about changing the messenger and that it should be important for thinking about the own privacy, which alternatives there are bla...
Edit: For passwords I'm using Myki - didn't hear anything bad about it yet and it's very easy to use (Firefox add-on, Android app).
I love my passwords with 200 characters 😂
Maybe someone's knowing more about them?
Hope I didn't forget a thing... thanks in advance aaaaaaand... I'm gone. ☺23 -
Is there any good, developer-friendly alternative to WordPress? So sick of plugins that have no API documentation and still use SVN. Working with PHP is seriously the least of my complaints with WP.
Favorite CMS right now is Lektor but it’s not designed for use with clients and I haven’t figured out a quick solution to make it work for that use case. It’s also very lacking in features, so only suitable for very basic content.9 -
! Rant.
Lots of hate towards WordPress, which I understand as I avoided using it for years, but what is your preferred alternative.
To qualify, the alternative must have:
-An 'as good', simple post/page administration interface
- similar abilities regarding shop/blog and payment solutions
OR
have the ability to integrate these features for a reasonably proficient developer.8 -
Any recommendations for moving a blog?
My wife and I just cancelled our account with siteground hosting a WordPress blog. Looking for a cheaper alternative. Willing to get my hands dirty as a web dev, but would like a nice CMS experience for my wife. Also want to keep our existing content. If we can keep our custom domain somehow that would be a win.
Thanks!7
