We’re recruiting new team members, and so our recruiting staff wanted some input on what to look for. We told them that we need more frontend devs, mainly for JS frameworks like React and Aurelia.

And now a few weeks later we find out that our newly recruited Java developer is starting this monday. Thanks

thoughts on Aurelia vs. Angular 2?

Seeing Angular markup after having used Aurelia for quite a while. Let the js framework battle begin.

I feel I need to write some side project summary somewhere.

So here it is about 3 months later:

- deleted 90% of code I created during last 3 months
- rewrote backed 5 times
- 200 lines POC still waiting to put in any meaningful architecture on frontend
- frontend part after aurelia, next, gatsby, react I think it would be vue powered by nuxtjs
- forced myself to buy food for whole week and don’t go out (except go running ) before I finish at least what I wrote on whiteboard

Now some positive news:

- there is not much left to be fucked up, removed or unnecessary added
- I think I got a plan
- this is probably first side project that makes me happy for such long time
- there is some probability it would help people and this is what I want to do in my life

Most important is that I know it would take at least half a year to do basic version of it and I don’t care.

Wish me luck so I can put some sneak peak after next 3 months.

Some time ago Ex-Boss, who's also a Dev, asks for some opinions about which JS framework we should use in our next project. I gave my 2 cents about react JS and he said no, react won't be any good, we must use Aurelia because it is backed up by Rob etc etc. At that moment I thought: wth is he asking, if he has already made its mind on Aurelia? As at that moment react was getting some hype and I knew the features and advantages, I kept going. Boss, react has shadow DOM. React has this, it has that etc. This discussion ended up with him raising his voice, telling me he is much more experienced than me and telling me to GTFO. That's what I did. And thanks God I did it. I respect other opinions and beliefs but If I'm asked to give my own opinion I will, even if they don't like it.

Why haven't anyone told me about Aurelia before? I've been rewriting an Angularjs app, and tried both angular 2 and react. Not to step on anyones toes, but React isn't that great if you ignore virtual dom, and angular 2 is just.. wrong. The rant? Yet another framework I need to learn.

People familiar, whats been your experience with Aurelia?

Depends on when it comes out, often it involves rebuilding my portfolio. Other times it's building a project idea, had a light week at work once and built a small app in Aurelia, then rebuilt it in Vue to test out both and compare them.

When I was looking into PWAs I rebuilt my react native app into react. Lol
