Completed Angular 2 course on codeschool, really liked improvements and simplicity of Angular over Angularjs. Decided to do quick start guide in official website. Oh my f**king god... I need to setup webpack, typescript linter, typings, polyfills etc angular2-cli is no better, crawling with errors... why... why can't one just start a project and work instead spending loads of timing configuring all of that... AND WHY WE CANT HAVE PROPER SUPPORT FOR LATEST FEATURES...

I don't even know what I am ranting about... I just wish to spend more time creating things than configuring for ages development environment.

A few days ago I had an interview, they asked me if I knew Angular. I told them I never used it, and they told me to give it a go anyway. I made what they asked me to do in 8 hours and submitted it for review. Today they called and said they liked it, and asked me to go there tomorrow to talk terms.

Well, today will be a day of trying to make my frontend angular website communicate with my backend symfony rest api. But after work also have to go to college and learn about ER models.

Just started learning Vue after watching few Angular 2 tutorials. Man, Vue is damn beautiful.

Angular is still a pile of steaming donkey shit in 2023 and whoever thinks the opposite is either a damn js hipster (you know, those types that put js in everything they do and that run like a fly on a lot of turds form one js framework to the next saying "hey you tried this cool framework, this will solve everything" everytime), or you don't understand anything about software developement.

I am a 14 year developer so don't even try to tell me you don't understand this so you complain.
I build every fucking thing imaginable. from firmware interfaces for high level languaces from C++, to RFID low level reading code, to full blown business level web apps (yes, unluckily even with js, and yes, even with Angular up to Angular15, Vue, React etc etc), barcode scanning and windows ce embedded systems, every flavour of sql and documental db, vectorial db code, tech assistance and help desk on every OS, every kind of .NET/C# flavour (Xamarin, CE, WPF, Net framework, net core, .NET 5-8 etc etc) and many more

Everytime, since I've put my hands on angularJs, up from angular 2, angular 8, and now angular 15 (the only 3 version I've touched) I'm always baffled on how bad and stupid that dumpster fire shit excuse of a framework is.

They added observables everywhere to look cool and it's not necessary.
They care about making it look "hey we use observables, we are coo, up to date and reactive!!11!!1!" and they can't even fix their shit with the change detection mechanism, a notorious shitty patchwork of bugs since earlier angular version.

They literally built a whole ecosystem of shitty hacks around it to make it work and it's 100x times complex than anything else comparable around. except maybe for vanilla js (fucking js).

I don't event want todig in in the shit pool that is their whole ecosystem of tooling (webpack, npm, ng-something, angular.json, package.json), they are just too ridiculous to even be mentioned.

Countless time I dwelled the humongous mazes of those unstable, unrealiable shitty files/tools that give more troubles than those that solve.

I am here again, building the nth business critical web portal in angular 16 (latest sack of purtrid shit they put out) and like Pink Floyd says "What we found, same old fears".
Nothing changed, it's the same unintelligible product of the mind of a total dumbass.

- Angular is amazing.
- If you're complaining about it, then you're not experienced enough with it and you need to learn more
- Im using Angular for years, i built personal, professional and client projects with Angular as frontend and got paid thousands of USD
- I have never had any problems with angular in terms of performance, slow load time or insufficient documentation
- Angular is perfect for large projects. The structure is extremely robust and Easily lets you scale the project no matter how complex the project is
- You can have a trillion components and still be able to easily understand what each component does and add up to it because of how all the components are modularized and decoupled

Wanted to try either of Angular Js or Meteor Js. Which one shoul I?

I've yet to pick up angular because I don't know if I'll be acute or obtuse.

Writing css is still better than having to refactor angular code.

I've never been a frontend guy, I only could modify existing FE code and had some clues about how to write a hello-world using angular.

I've just refactored ~150 files in an Angular project, created half a dozen new modules and modularized lots of loose artefacts.

And after recompiling the project still works! And is now more maintainable!

I think I now can safely add "Angular" to my resume :)

I tried to solved a problem for two day. And I was about to give up. I went and watched a movie with all my frustration. As I was checking on devRant while watching . I decided to google again using my phone this time. Immediately I got an idea and back to my computer. Three minutes and I was done with a problem that took me 2day's. All was because I was using RC5 in angular 2 and the module I was using is RC1 angular 2 and they had not indicated the change in the documention 😢😢😢

Angular material is shit.

Angular material has literally no documentation. There is no search on their shit docs. And there is absolutely no info in their docs about some shit they use.
So when you need to know what the fuck does smth like MatOption mean (what inputs does this piece of fuck takes?) you will need to dig into the code.

I love the simplicity of jQuery and Angular 1.0 - you just include the JS files and off you go. No additional dependencies or messing around.

I mostly work in Java as a backend developer, but lately I started a frontend side project in Angular. Man, Typescript and SASS are awesome! Totally love it :)

Being forced to learn Angular for a project, then as my confidence kept growing those same guys said "actually, we are not going to use any Angular, vanilla Javascript will be enough".

PS: months later those same guys: "Hey, maybe you could learn Angular 2 for our next project". We never worked together again :/

I can work with Angular, even though it's pain in the but.
My current Angular job is actually the job with the first manager that had decent human values and ethics, I like my team, and yeah, what we building is shit. But it's only 30% shit because of Angular, another 30% are due to SAFe, and the rest is the usual stuff.
Still enjoy my job and respect my team.

But please do not expect me to pretend Angular is on a comparable level to React. Angular hasn't brought any actual innovation in most major versions but releases those breaking major updates still at least twice a year.
Ivy might be awesome, but only because Angular told the world 3 years ago also to have Ivy compatible compile targets for their libs/packages doesn't mean everybody cared.
And the ngcc, the awesome compatibility compiler, mutates node modules in place. So ne parallel stuff, no using yarn2 or pnpm.
At the same time, React brought so many innovations into the frontend world but is basically backwards compatible.

Not sure how the Angular partial compilation and whatever needs to go on works, but it seems like there's hardly anyone that really knows, so you can't use Vite or whatever other new tool.
And sure, if you're really good, you can write Angular without producing memory leaks.
But it's really hard. Do you know what's also quite hard: Producing memory leaks with React!

And for sure, Angular Universal, which isn't used by anyone, it feels like, will still be on a comparable level to an open source product that's used all over the world, builds the basis for an open source company, and is improved by thousand of issues day by day.

And sure, two kinds of change detection are a great idea. And yeah, pretending Angular comes with all included makes it worth it that the API is fucking huge and you're better of knowing nothing, because you have to read up things, than knowing quite a lot, since making assumptions and believing apis work in a similar way and follow similar contentions...

Whatever... I work with it. Like the time. Like the company, even my poss. But please don't expect my lying to you this was a good idea, or Angular is even remotely the same level of React.

Angular 2+, it's just so elaborate, and over the top complicated. On larger projects it easily becomes a mess. I started a new job where I inherited a angular 2+ project, that is terribly made, it's so frustrating. I now use Vue.js 2, and it's just so beautiful, especially single file components :D

Angular 2 is really, really satisfying me. Such a very clean and smart way to organize web functionality! And es2015 + typescript is sooo nice to work with.

First thing Wednesday morning, fired up the macbook, opened vs code, ran the same unit tests that were passing last night, 1 failure! FML.

For some reason an Angular form that was valid with the same data last night isn't this morning. Probably some crappy date issue in the mock data

Googling for Angular (>=2) documentation and finding AngularJS instead feels like cancer.

If Google was going to "update" to what is functionally a new framework, they should've named it differently instead of trying to piggyback on the popularity of AngularJS. Sure, there's similarities, but let's be realistic here.

Today I discover that while inspecting the source code in search of an element that might have been hidden or missing and to my surprise I saw angular code in it !! WHATTT? !! shame on Apple... the links of the iTuneConnect still mention WebObjects (a Java based web-building framework that was never adopted by the mass) but the client code has Angular on it. How is it possible that they did not try to come up with their own framework for web applications ? They started the entire web-widget html/Javascript adventure, promoting modular web component and what not to then adopt a Google made framework ?! . Fuck FE development. Tweaking or adding some stuff is OK, but making the whole FE from zero is a pain for me. Vanilla JS is OK, but I need to use Angular, which I don't know how to use properly. Generally, right now I find FE as a big confusing mess... Why Angular? Because fuck React - it is even more confusing. I just can't keep all these things in my head... You want to add something? Fine, add a dependency, import, export it, import again, that shit does not work alone, so you import another shit... IDE says it's all good, look it's up and running! But you open the app and it's not even loading because of errors. Another module missed, ffs. IDE can't really save you here, sigh...

I am a BE dev, I am straight out bad at FE. I don't hate FE, but I hate that I am forced to do it and I need to do it fast, without having time for learning it.

Is there anyone who actually likes using Angular?

I decided to learn it (im backend only for many years) to be less clueless in the frontend world.. and so far i find it horrible.
Is it just a "culture shock" or do frontent angular devs also find it.. not so fun to use?

What i dont like so far is the inconsistency of syntax.. i feel like similar things done differently and not following rules that can be learned, i can't remember/guess anything, everything needs to be googled

i.e- `*ngIf` vs `[ngSwitch]`

Not to mention 3 different syntaxes to simply bind a property..

I tried vueJs about 3 years ago and it was so fun and EASY

Sometimes angular can be really damn annoying with it's "Error handling".

When just one component has an error (For example using an non-existent form-control) it'll not only crash the component like it should, but the entire app.

Why the fuck Angular is superior as compared to React? Everyone I know just wants to choke on Angular.

So I joined a company as an Angular dev and the code they gave me was stupid AngularJS ported to Angular 7 mixed with thousands of lines of jQuery inside index.html,

also all the css was scattered into a few files with 8000+ lines of code and no idea about which file does what, we decided to rebuild the project in Angular,

I built a huge portion of it with PrimeNg (a UI library like Angular Material) but after building all of that they tell me to remove PrimeNg and also asked me to import all SCSS modules in angular.json like wtf,

they forced me to use bootstrap with jQuery IN AN ANGULAR PROJECT this was my first job and I think I have a pretty good understand of Pakistani IT industry after this.

I learned programming from online paid courses and tons of practice so I expected others to be on the same level but that's not the case.

Finally convinced the senior engineer I'm working with to let me use Angular CLI for our front end because of all the added things we get compared to what he had originally setup for our Angular project (plus it's a phenomenal tool). I was slowly adding in things to make the app better (more like a PWA), but what pushed him over the edge was the platform-webworker package letting us off load some heavy tasks into a web worker. I'm excited for the improvements coming!

Unable to find good job in angular 6 in which I have delivered fantastic project in previous comoany and here working in angular js

I am currently using angular from 1.5 years. With angular 2 coming to production i was thinking of moving to it.

But i have some questions:
I am hesitating to move because it encourages typescript over javascript. It adds 1 more dependency to my code ( code will break after angular updates and also when typescript updates).

I do not have any such problem learning vuejs or reactjs.

So, which one do i choose.

The component is called (and works) if i reload the page on the correct url. Even the URL in the adressbar changes on router.navigate.

I'd like to hear from developers which prefers Angular to React the reason of said preference.
I want to hear that becasue I like React way more than Angular since I find which is easier to learn (making a form with a React hook is easy while it takes days just to get a grip on Angular forms), it usually takes less code to do things, it doesn't force libraries which may not be necessary for your use case and just makes your bundle bigger (for example most things which are done in NgRx can be done just as easily with regular JS promises without the need of an external tool) and I generally prefer functional programming to OOP.
Said that I want to hear the other side, not to argue but because I want to know cases in which Angular may be a better choice than React to become a better rounded dev.

I'm going to have a project come up soon that's driven heavily by multiple api backend services and I'm leaning heavily towards vue due to the extensibility and the small learning curve.

I was darn nervous interviewing those people, relying on some reading on angular documentation, articles and tutorials but after few interviews. I manage to get into the momentum to conduct interview smoothly.

After two weeks of doing it, now I'm kinda understand Angular thanks to some great candidate explaining those concept clearly ( hope you get hired on the next round of interview).

For an open temp role, we are looking for someone that knows and used Angular 1.5 and ECMAScript 6.. yet everyone we have interviewed so far only knows up to Angular 1 and doesn't even know a new version of JavaScript came out, or have never used it before.

Are we really asking too much for someone interested in a temp role or are we just getting unqualified candidates?

Why would smn want to use Angular for their project? Its a mess! Its bloated, abstracted, opinionated and so not dev friendly. Its been more than 2 weeks I have been working on AoT and Lazy loading. Dont even get me started on NgModule! Its irritatingly convoluted yet people seem to prefer it. Why? Am I the only one who thinks this way?!?

So I'm doing angular 2 and I've started to notice that the time it takes to setup my website with al it's dependencies is becoming quite long. I know that longer load times are expected the bigger the site gets, but this is getting ridiculous.
Are there any general methods to reduce load times?

I mean, seriously, people joke about this, but does a new version of angular get released every week or something? How is anyone supposed to keep up? Let alone find the right version of the documentation to reference?

I started using angular about one month ago, I did a long course and now I'm trying to do my first commercial app.

I have to say I really really hate the template engine of angular, I've been web developing for about 5 years, I've used bootsrap, materialize and foundation.

It rally sucks how it's all different in angular, their fucking gryd system didn't even use classes, use weird html tags, and the angular material has very very poor examples and documentation.

Another shitty thing is the Google search, when I search any shit about angular or angular material I have to watch careful if it is angularjs or only angular because most folks switch the names without any criteria.

Why the hell Google has to make a framework so incompatible with standard shit? Why it has to be a pain to use a fucking framework after 5 years of experience?

Hey so I have to make something using both angular and rails and I wanna ask. After I manage to get angular running on rails, do I just proceed to build what I wanted on angular normally? Or is there a special way I have to do.

I'm learning to build something but I can't find specific guides on how to combine those to do so.

So I've found how to make it without rails. And how to link angular and rails. My plan is to learn both seperately then add. Will that work?

Saw a few guys having some issues picking up on angular 2. There's currently a really good course on angular 2 that's about a week and a half old, so pretty up to date, on pluralsight. Just search for angular 2 and order by date.

For those who don't wanna/can't pay, you can get 3 months for free on it by signing up on Microsoft devtools. If anyone wants direct link just say it(not sure if allowed).

Btw, I'm not affiliated what so ever with pluralsight, although I really like it. Just passing some information specially regarding angular 2 which is a pain to learn due to legacy code.

When you love react you gotta hate angular and when love angular you have to hate react. It can't be a 2 sided love. It's just what I feel.

I haven't been developing any web projects for 2-3 years (Since jQuery is the only well known js library). I put my focus on other platforms.

Now I am going to be back again, and there are some angular, vue, and react going on (despite of the other js framework/library #duh).

So, how do I choose between angular, vue, or react? I have no idea.
