So I'm looking through my emails this morning and I see this nugget which really catches my eye. "What does man has to do to get his build done" writes Damyan from Bulgaria. Poor Damyan, we've all been there. Your code compiles locally but some poorly written unit test blows it back in your face. Unit test failure report leaves you scratching your head.
Of course engineering team responds to Damyan and suggests that perhaps his code is really to blame. Knowing the quality of our tests this scenario is rather unlikely. Damyan agrees with me and points out how the test is behaving non-deterministically. The engineering guys say fix the test then.
What does man has to do to get his build done? Damyan's words run through my head as I sip my morning coffee. I can feel his frustration as if it were my own. I don't think I have ever empathized more with another human being (even though we've never actually met). What does man has to do to get his build done? Will we ever know?
Either way his words will adorn the whiteboard as the quote of the day in honor of all developers who are putting their sanity on the line trying to tame unruly build servers.1 -
Stickers have been applied. Since I'm lazy and retired, this has been my only "tedious" task of the day. Now back to Monster Hunter.... Roaaar.7

!rant + question for Bulgaria ranters
I've recently came through vps.ag owned by BelCloud (https://www.belcloud.net/)
Was wondering, do you recommend it? I liked the fact they don't ask for personal details + have low prices for my needs
I'm checking their payment options and found those, I'm a bit freaking out here as I only heard about Paypal and crypto coins.
Any recommendations?26 -
This stupid computer is in clamshell mode connected to my screen and mech %99.999999 of the time. I take it with me on a trip and the down arrow key breaks off (little plastic shit-thing snapped off)..WTF? 2013 Macbook that has about 5 hours of total keyboard-use, at best.
Walk into the Apple shop in Varna, 3 Euros and I'm back in action.
ahhhh fuck..it was probably my fault clacking too hard.
Good sushi here and my dry February has happily turned into large pints of Kamenitza...
Cheers from Bulgaria, you fucks..5 -
So Bulgaria just confiscated 200k+ BitCoins during a raid. Oh boy. This gonna be fun, if they decide to sell it all.1

My freelancing journey so far:
In Jan, I continued working for an Indian client I got back in November last year. A Shopify app built with Laravel/MySQL stack.
In Feb, I got three more clients. One, who's from Bulgaria, wants a Shopify app built with Laravel/MySQL
The second one, who's from the UK, wants me to convert their Yii2 application to Laravel.
The third one, also a UK client, wants me to integrate a fulfillment center to their Shopify store.
This month, I continued working for the above clients and now the Bulgarian client wants me to work on a Typescript + Svelte application. I'm really excited for it.
So yeah.. Just wanted to share it. I'm not making a point or any joke or something.7 -
So I'm planning to open a company in Bulgaria really soon. Looking for (junior) developer and UX/gfx designer for permanent, remote only position.
Can anyone recommend me where to find such people in Bulgaria?5
