You are good in programming and data structures.
But we won't select you because you couldn't solve the puzzle. 😑11 -
Which retard on this planet decided to put a "continue reading" button on every dumbshit news and article website. You built your fucking website to read! That was the entire purpose of your website!!9

Telephonic "technical" interview at 5 in the evening
Interviewer : Tell me about yourself
Me : Blah blah...
Interviewer : Thank you for your time
(Call time on phone... 7 minutes)
Absolutely uninterested... no single counter question... Guess she just wanted to go home early... 😑6 -

What you think when in college
These big companies would have all their code systematically arranged and everything organized, well documented.
When you come to the corporate world
Its the same shit you saw in college with the only difference being that you are expected to somehow keep it running since now it has actual money flowing through it!4 -
found this in our codebase today
try {
//do something
} catch () {
try {
//do something else
} catch () {
try {
//do something else else... this goes on 4-5 levels deep
} catch () {
//log... couldn't do
}
}

I usually read rants while using public transport. What is the probability that the person about whom I'm reading is sitting right beside me!3

That moment when you are just testing a web framework, you type some random text, open in browser, and Google asks whether it could translate it. Yea sure... go ahead! 😛5

Life cycle of code
1- See what sound code I have written! It's beautiful.
2 - Hey we missed something last time, just add this bit of tweak.
3 - We need to add some flags for some exception cases
4 - Hey there is a new requirement. Just add some more paths and more flags
5 - More flags!
6 - This shit runs now more on flags than on the design!
7 - Flagception!3 -

What kind of a motherfucking city is this! (Mumbai) Every fucking road has a shit ton of traffic and no one gives a shit about people walking nearby. An asshole drove over my foot while I was crossing the road, motherfucker. Traffic signals not working, no traffic constables to see anything. And people talk and keep telling this is the spirit of Mumbai. Shitty infrastructure is the spirit of Mumbai. Fuck everyone!6 -
Corporate jobs... where you spend most of the time doing stupid work because of idiots in the team.
There was a script to automate some manual task. However that script had a bug. The script was then updated.
Still there is some idiot out there in the wild who runs the old script now and then and causes issues.
We have written another script to counter the effect of that buggy script! 🤦♀️2 -
All this started around an year back. In college we had this subject of web programming where we were given a mini project to do. The topics were given related to college stuff. Mine was an attendance system. Made a simple website using all i knew about bootstrap, jquery, etc since i had some previous experience with web. The professor liked it and asked me to further improve it so that it can actually be implemented. This was six months back.
Since that day, to this date, that guy asks me to add a new feature or just modify something every two weeks. These guys just want free work and think everyone is just free. Neither does he help a bit... just demands... god knows when this forever loop would end! It has become frustrating now...it just feels as though why i showed my skills in the first place 😐😖5 -
Installed my telecom service provider's app for checking new packs. Didn't remember the password. Hit forgot password! I get my password in plain text in sms!
Fuck, it's one of the leading service provider in the country!
Till now i had only read about it, but never encountered it! Any ideas as to how to approach them?2 -
I just downgraded from that shitty windows 10 to windows 7. Win 10 just decided its good to nuke itself while updating.... so fuck off!!
Dont judge me, its my secondary OS.
Primary is Debian!5 -
What are your thoughts about competitive coding and hackathons in general?
I sometimes feel that practices which are important for maintaining and structuring the code gets lost in the spirit of competition. Also, more hacks are kind of used to finish the assigned tasks rather than a proper approach.3 -
Wanted to give a demo of a web project in college but didn't want to carry the laptop and set it up again since I use my desktop primarily.
Just run ngrok on desktop... note the link and you can give a demo from any corner of the world!!1 -
Benefits of having a client whose timezone is 3 hours ahead of yours
Even if he goes home late... you can still leave on time -
so now that ai and all that machine learning can differentiate between images n stuff, what could be the new captcha‽ 🤔5

This condition over here which is never supposed to be true sometimes becomes true, no one know how or why, just change it manually in prod whenever that happens...

Deleted the database of an application I built for college since they were replacing it with a better one. Later, the teacher remembered that he didn't take a backup.
Fortunately, I remembered I had configured a cron job an year back in the app which saved me that day. 😅 -
I made a website for my college. The day on which I had to demonstrate it was fun. A student teaching and solving doubts of teachers! 😀😎

Have a SOAP service but need REST service since it is in fashion?
Easy, make a endpoint and ask for the entire body of soap (yes, in xml) in body of rest request.8 -
A recruiter calls me without any notification for a job I applied. The first qn i get is what is the salary I expect and how much work experience I have. Straight up rejected saying not enough experience. It wasn't a fancy company but surely looked decent enough. Is this pretty common or did I just dodge a bullet?1

got into this stream for developing great fun things, then corporate life happened and sucked out all the creativity2

classmates attend a paid workshop on WordPress for 2 days.... now everyone needs my github id for learning bootstrap!! (had used bootstrap in a project around 8-10 months ago)3

yesterday, I just swapped my sim card for some time with another. Placed it back....and voila! I can't enable data connection. I lost all my apn settings. To add to this, neither is it auto fetching the apns, nor i can manually change it! It shows some fucking error "apn settings not available for this user". I have another phone with same android version (lollipop) and everything works smoothly on it. These guys just broke everything after giving an upgrade from kitkat. Auto brightness stops working after a few hours, random reboots.... This is it... bye bye stock rom!
-
I found this out during my final practical exam while doing...
sudo useradd
phone's weren't allowed so no pic! 😀😀
We trust you have received the usual lecture from the local System Administrator. It usually boils down to these three things:
#1) Respect the privacy of others.
#2) Think before you type.
#3) With great power comes great responsibility.

Before get get source code for freelance job, the person who cantact me say the job is to continue the project for some update and tweak.
The UI from design is beautiful and he gave good explaination for the project and the update, continue to conversarion, negosiation and deal.
but he is not the IT guy and also the project is not his work or something that he do previosly. All the person who work on that project is already leave and not contactable.
And here that I get:
- source code
- domain cred.
And here what's missing:
- documentation
- .env file
- db backup / old db cred.
- server and hosting cred.
And after some hour of learning the code I find out that:
- latest commit was 2 year ago and different from production version.
- most of the branch is RnD.
- the code have many wtf/minute lol
And for now I still re-negotiate with the person who give me the project with 2 suggestion from me.
- continue with this code with condition, he need to search for the missing part at least backup db or documentation.
- recreate the project with more time
And here's one funny part of the code.
randomNumber(){
return 5 // this number was choose by dev team at random

My life is like a random number, trying to find the best distribution to follow.

In a company currently for an interview, these bastards call people in batches and ignore the batches previously made... they just passed a sheet like an idiot to write names.... obviously people who came late were at the back.... so the ones who came late would go in early! 😑2

New Project
M: Hey, check these two processes. Both took different paths for the same input. Here are the logs. Both are the same though.
Me: Ok... do we have a debugger?
M: No this product doesn't have a debugger
Me: Any unit tests i should know of?
M: We don't do unit testing. Everything is done in Integration Testing.
Me: Ok. So how can i check the db for this?
M: You can't, the access is restricted. You'll have to raise a ticket to other team with the sql output you need.
Me: Ok. So I hope you have the schema at least.
M: Yes we have the schema. But there was some issue last week so the values might not be there in the correct column. They may or may not be present where they are supposed to be.
Wtf am i supposed to do... fucking play football on ticketing system with the other team 😐 -
I am sure that this idea of every site tracking their users must have come from the same people who ask to hack Facebook accounts!
