Just checked my laptop uptime and it's been on one charge for exactly 1 month, with average use and aggressive tlp/powertop settings 😰18

Spend half a day trying to make sound work on my antergos install, after multiple image builds, kernel jumping, reinstalling alsa, realized that people working on making cherry trail laptops sound work - stopped working on it since like april 2017 and new kernels have simply no patch to make it work, great.. debian docs mention that you should be able to use an external soundcard atleast, but the whole alsa and pulseaudio shit doesn't make that easy at all.. atleast the battery time with arch+powertop+tlp is almost the same as what I would get with windows out of it1

Automate this!
I'm an aspiring coder working some chappy administrator job just to pay the bills for now. My boss found out that I may actually be more computer literate than I let on.
Boss: "I want you to make X happen automatically if I click here on this spreadsheet"
Me "X!? That means processing data from 4 different spreadsheets that aren't consistently named and scraping comparison info from the fronted of the Web cms we're using"
Boss: "if you say so.. Can you do it?"
Me: "maybe.. Can I install python?"
Boss: "No..."
Me: "what about node.js or ruby?"
Boss: "no.. I don't know what you're talking about but you're not installing anything, just get it done"
Me: "Errm Ok.."
So here I am now, way over my head loving the fact that I'm unofficially a Dev and coding my first something in Powershell and vb that will be used in business :)
Sucks that I still have to keep my regular work on target whilst doing this though!2 -
Did a dual boot of Fedora XFCE with an existing Xubuntu installation in my laptop.
Things are great but the battery consumption of Fedora is too high when compared with Xubuntu.
I already installed tlp before doing this test.
So is there anything else that i could do to reduce the power consumption..?2 -
Tries to automate login with vb using I.E...
Gets stuck because login page is a hive of nested iframes with deep nested tags without defined names

Thought i'd try using VSCode.. initialized folder for git... and then proceeded to delete all my nodeschool work that i'd done over the past year... ARAGH!2

!Rant
I've spent a week now. Lenovo laptops, specifically the ones that aren't high end like the ThinkPad or the Yogas have shit compatibility with Linux.
For some really weird reason the colors look like I'm using a 16 bit and lib-input just wouldn't work properly with my track pad.
I can live with the display but can't simply remove lib-input and switch to synaptic without deleting the whole gnome-shell on the Ubuntu Gnome.
I deleted windows and there's no fucking way to reset the battery threshold back to 100% from 60% without installing windows because there's no driver for it. Tlp along with ThinkPad configurations doesn't help too.
