Chrome out consumes everything else running, and Virtual box has a full blown LAMP server running.

Just as I wait for my train, some advertisers from a utility company here approached me. Asking what my company is etc..

Me: *recalls ping to my servers in Italy*
"Yeah to Italy my ping is about 300ms if memory serves me right... So that'd make sense"
(Turned out to be 40ms.. close enough though, right 🙃)
Them: "don't travel too much at light speed, alright!"

Meanwhile me, thinking: but guys.. all I wanted to do was smoke a cigarette before my train comes. Why did you waste my time with this? And uninformed time wastage at that.

- remove unnecessary checks for "have you turned it off and on again" & "please ensure your machine is plugged in".
- instantly be put through to second line support as a minimum level.

when you have 6GB worth of unused kernels on your machine and your machine is desperately crying for MOAR storage space!

What the actual fuck. I just found out that on one of the SSD's I bought, the optimal partition start / finish sizes which apparently on that unit only occur every 65 THOUSAND 4kB sectors (which translates to about a quarter GB) means that I have to throw away half a GB worth of space on that disk in order to align it. Very optimized indeed, dear SSD manufacturer! Huge alignment numbers for just that much extra wastage in the name of optimization. Something like 4x sector size on 512 byte sectors or 1x sector size on 4k sectors.. ain't nobody gonna need that. Let's make it a quarter GB.

At least we now say it openly: that if we were the winners, we'd also take it all, live that empty luxury, life of fame. But 99,99% of us, we aren't in that position, just working off our arse to only keep afloat. And for the stars, those fake images, we're just rats to click on ads to better train Google.

And I'm still a bit pissed at our profession, that, you know, as engineers, scientists, physicists, we still see us in the lineage of that "great" age of enlightenment and reason,.. while it's all just a cover up. Sure science and their ideas are nice as long as you serve a purpose or make some money. Sure democracy and free speech are great achievements, but in the end some elites and monopolies rule the world at their gusto - and will not stop destroying the world unless we're already one feet in the abyss (like 1962, be we ain't had enough of that shit, hadn't we?)

Anyone else get the feeling that you're whiling away your weekend when you could be getting stuff done that you found important/likeable? It sucks to realize you get 32 hours of waking time and not one meaningful ("important but not urgent") thing gets done in that time.

I hate my boss, he just throw some weird ideas to work on, and at the end it fails. WASTAGE OF TIME !!

i have been watching some jetpack compose tutorials and trying to create projects with it. Its quite cool and looks very interesting. but wrti8 those modifiers seems like a great wastage of time :/
Also, i have an OCD of writing code in lesser number of lines , as much as possible . so i would rather prefer writing

than

.fun()

as long as my code line does not cross the 80 character limit guideline, and as long as it makes sense to not switch to a new line.

but IDE seems adamant on breaking those long modifier lines to weird indented codeblock, so its already getting very noring for me :/

The 1080ti is rated at a little more over 11 teraflops. GPUs with over 1 teraflops of compute performance was released in the early 2000's.
It's 2017 and we are stuck with fancy gen xxx cpus.
I smell a huge compute performance wastage.
