Just a heads up since sometimes these things get missed on new devRant version releases: you can now download images attached to rants by tapping on the "share" icon on the top right of a rant and then selecting "save image". The image will be saved into the gallery on your device.

We've also improved Facebook and Twitter sharing.

I was in college studying stuff I couldn't care less about and had a job that was consuming me. A couple of colleagues and I then decided to open our own company. Four years of sleepless nights later, all colleagues left. I had lost touch with family and friends, had lost a girlfriend and had been left with all the company's debt to pay. Going back to my old career seemed like the only option, but I couldn't let me sabotage myself again. I sat my butt in front of my sister's computer and downloaded every coding class I could get my hands on. Getting used to sleep deprivation helped. Eventually I built my first app and landed my first freelance job. All hat in hand, I told this company I didn't have much experience and they told me they'd hire a senior developer as well. It was on a Sunday morning, at 4am, with the deadline breathing down our necks, that the senior developer had jumped ship and the company asked me if I could take over the project. That moment I realised it's all about being competent. That moment I knew I could do this.

1986. Commodore 64 computer. First program in assembler to move cursor on screen. I will never forget that day.

At times, I find stackoverflow community rude. It is, as if all they care about is boasting their virtual ego i.e. points.

My code passed the review today. It is now being pushed to production. I can't express my happiness 😅

I carry the same mindset as an aspiring programmer as I did when I was a music major. There were times I practice for hours and got very little out of it in terms of quality (because I wasn't interested, focused or willing) and then there were times I practiced for 20 mins and really made progress on the piece. So I always keep that in mind to save me time and to produce better code overall.

This is what happend to me

#wk6 coolest bug: it was first year CS and we were learning data structures. the assignment was a maze solver using stacks. I couldn't figure out the issue I had and went to sleep. my dream that night was in code (one of a few times it's happened) and I woke up mid-night and typed it in and it worked. slept like a baby after that.

Should I put my hobby is to browse devrant in my résumé? Hmmmm ....
