Team Leader, once again, wagered I was wrong on a technical thing
I, once again, accepted his wager
Team Leader, once again, lost the bet.
That's 3-0 now.2 -
Isn’t it weird how a paper notebook is more private than anything you type on a computer, despite the complete lack of encryption? You don’t control what happens to your CPU under the hood, and you never had that control.15

the ability to recognize when someone is better at something than you might be the most valuable skill of all
no glass ceilings, just exponential growth at every opportunity10 -
Devrant iOS app removed from my region's App Store for some reason. Can use the web app but cannot use iOS app. That is kinda unfair. It was there before. :(
What better place to rant about it than at devrant xD9 -
I need to smash something. Why won’t some people just read? When messaging colleagues at work, I put effort into writing out everything clearly and concisely in order to minimise back and forth. But people just won’t read. I tell them A is precisely this. Then their next question: so precisely what is A?
Do people get secretly paid for exchanging more messages?4 -
laters Microsoft.
Well been on PopOS for my laptop for about 4 months and hell I have had OS killing problems and nothing and I mean nothing made me think let's go back to Windows.
So it's official, Windows is slowly getting it's holes bricked up as I am done.
I don't have the tools I used on Windows for making my desktop apps but all my modding tools and well PHP can be done on anything so hey I am all good.
If you like Windows then enjoy your spyware you have that right.4 -
Getting into a bed with fresh sheets after a long shower is heaven
Not many things would get me out of bed rn9 -
started a new corporate job.
yeah, I know but I need the money.
the entire setup and all is the same as the previous corporation, just a different logo. if anything these people are even more restrictive in what they let you install on Windows. damn it at least give me WSL23 -
So yeah, I kind of thought it was exaggerated, and above all, not anywhere outside fucking woke Spain.
I just had a Moroccan today not only molest my friend, but also literally tell me (after watching two girls go home on their own) "let's go after them, they can't do anything against us."
Am writing from the police station now, hopefully they will lend me a baton to beat him up some more.28 -
Made a website and 4K final for university in 10 days with Angular, FastAPI, ArangoDB and docker. No prior experience with Typescript whatsoever. Sessions, User Management, data manipulation and a d3-force graph which doesn’t dance around like a fucking clown. I feel like a fucking god right now8

All brand new tech products are a scam. They lose half of their value when you open the box.
Buy used. It’s better for both your wallet and the environment. After a month of use, your brand new thing would’ve looked similar anyway. Yes, you lose the unboxing experience when you buy used, but it’s nothing but a consumption addiction reinforcement.14 -
The more things change, the more they stay the same. Many years ago, when most of you were toddlers, different web browsers were...different, and the most different of them all was Internet Explorer. Web applications were not automatically cross-browser compatible and it took a lot of adaptation/tweaking to make a webapp, or even a simple web page, work and look the same across different web browsers. Some web pages/apps only worked on a specific browser and poorly, if at all, on some other browsers. Now, in 2024, we're there again. Atlassian's Confluence works without a hitch on Edge, but often fails miserably on Firefox. Too bad. I don't like Edge, but am forced to use it just for Confluence. So, once again, I have separate web browsers for different tasks.7

Have legal troubles in the UK? Scammed someone? Messed with the wrong person? Facing charges and a lengthy jail time? No problem! Go and touch some children. UK protects pedos at all costs, so you’ll immediately be pardoned. Maybe they’ll even give you a medal.4

Why do these article sites of news channels have a shitload of adds in it , so much that you can barely even see the article ... and even worse , some of them add random pop up modals in between of their article.
Like I am reading about salt or sugar which is better to add in curd and suddenly I see a f*cking deaf person trying on a hearing aid and smiling like some girl in sanitary pad advertisement after she aced in her exam because she used the extra wide pad.
And some of those website feel so delusionally confident about their articles that they decide to add a "Sign up to Read full article" thing in it ...
I was just trying to read "top 10 places to visit this monsoon in [city name]".2 -
A question for the people who say Macs are superior...
WHAT THE FUCK
I'm wrestling this iOS signing issue for the fourth day. How the fuck do people manage to build anything using tools broken by design and sold to them for the price of their mother.23 -
I think up dumb shit too. I should be a CEO...

Logitech is my favorite mouse vendor. This is a stain on their reputation. This and the AI shit they are marketing. Why the fuck do companies ruin their products? I actively avoid subscriptions and companies that offer them.12 -
I made a Product in my free time (after work hours)
it's a SAAS thats supposed to be an add-on to apps and websites
Added it to my own apps (what better than Test in prod) and over months fixed its pitfalls n ngl, even im impressed by its core tech and resilience
But thats kinda it -.- Ik I should make a landing page and launch it etc but I lost the will the day the "core tech" was 99% perfected
Im a Product guy not a businessman T__T
It's the weirdest mental block ive had in a while ffs.8 -
I'm working with a nice piece of code written 6 years ago by somebody who isn't in the company anymore and only the fact that they live on the other side of the continent prevents me from physically strangling them.
They must have thought that they were very smart trying to use JavaScript as a functional language. A shitload of library-specific decorators that ultimately don't do shit except for raising the cognitive load of anybody who hasn't worked with it before. Why the fuck did you use 'curry' in a function that then is never called in a functional manner? Because fuck me, go check the documentation of ramda because you obviously have too much time at work if you ask questions, just to learn fuck all.
It fascinates me how people take this steaming pile of shit that is JavaScript and then try to work against all its design assumptions to create something that is even more slimy, disgusting and smelly. It shows a radical misunderstanding of what you're even working with.
Take shit, add straw and you might have a docent construction material. Take shit, sprinkle it with chilli and try to eat it and it's just hot shit. But at least you will make everyone else try to find out why the fuck is that chilli in there because why would you expect it there. I'm a coprologist, not a cook.3 -
