My company grows like crazy. We have more money than we could ever spend, no deadlines, super smart people (some coming from Google, Apple, FB etc), and all the perks one could wish for.
I'm sometimes feeling like I don't belong here, because I'm mediocre at best with everything I do. 😥5 -
So people here are complaining about StackOverflow being rude and unfriendly to noobs.
Post a link to your question and people here will judge whether it's a good question/answer.
We will see whether it's the network or your questions being just bad.8 -
So... Human are now learning machine learning. Interesting. Maybe we should instead teach a machine teach us machine learning so we can better human learn from the machines!2

I've spent the last day at work playing Paperclips 📎. I fucking hate the author of that time eating machine!

I run auto-formatter with every typo correction so nobody notices. 300 lines changed, message "formatting"

When you spend two weeks coding something only to find out there is a cool generator that could write 90% of your code for you7

Sometimes dirty code is more efficient than clean code.
If features get dropped frequently and requirements change every few days, writing best-practices, tested code is wasted time. Learned that in my first job where I thought the other devs were all bad. Until I realized their bad code pays my salary, and my clean code takes more time to develop.6 -
Devrant feature request:
Filter notifs so I can actually get to my mentions without scrolling through random comments and ++ notifs.2 -
"How would you reverse a string?"
One of the best Java interview questions I ever had! (no kidding)8 -
Recruiter: this job is about dotNet and git.
Me: I never worked with dotNet before.
Recruiter: Okay, maybe we can get you in for git then.
FML!7 -
How can one "steal" a job anyways? Is not like there's a robot with a gun forcing your boss to fire you and give him the contact instead, which the robot is way better at anyways, producing no bugs and ten times the features you were able to do, and all that for a few bucks of electricity a day... FUCK, WE'RE DOOMED!!!5

Doing the Professional Scrum Developer Cert today. I feel terrified by the thought I might be throwing 200$ out of the window.

Any tips highly appreciated. -
Anybody else having screen addiction during the night? It ruins my day-night cycle for years now! FML

When you learn in school that a Stack is LIFO and a Queue a FIFO, and then find this:
java.util.Collections.asLifoQueue(arg)3 -
I'm new to Australia and trying to get a job here. The visa process is sorta complicated, but let me say that you usually start with a Working Holiday Visa (6 months work) and go on from there.
Had an interview the other day. First smalltalk, then coding questions, then hands-on exercises, then I was talking to 3 different people about their experiences in the company. Overall 2 hours plus 3 hours train. The same day I get a email with a positive response and I should send in my papers (passport, Visa etc.) for the contact. I stopped sending out applications at this point.
5 days later (!) I get an email telling me they won't hire me on that visa.
Crushed my motivation for rest of the week 💀3 -
1. Spend a week learning InDesign and create an awesome resume.
2. Upload and send the PDF resume around with applications.
3. Have ppl ask for a Word file...16
