The quantity of pain is always constant. People do self harm to increase physical pain for emotional pain to decrease.
The only way to survive the pain of living is to learn how to create and contemplate.
There is no safe space. Agility is the natural way of survival. Something forcing you to “bend” doesn’t make you weak.
Things like discussions and anger rarely change anything but they take energy and tend to breed.
There is no universal meaning. There is no leaderboard at the end. This means you can invent your own meaning. I built my meaning on contemplating what’s right rather than fighting what’s wrong.7 -

Thought experiment time:
Imagine that this whole universe is a simulation created by a Group Of Developers (GOD).
- Who would make up this group?
- What kind of design patterns would they follow?
- What type of programming language would they use?
- What kind of bugs are there if any?
- How do they test?
- Assuming the use of quantum computing, what are the implications? Parallel simulations? All possibilities play out?
- Would the controller input be life?
- Who is AI and who are players?
- Has all time already been rendered?
- Do we respawn?
- What would the leaderboard look like?
- What kind of stats are tracked
- What are dreams, nightmares, lucid dreams, sleep paralysis, birth and death?
- How is memory stored, accessed and pruned?
- What kind of neural net is used and where?
etc etc, if you can think of any other interesting fire away8 -
So, I just started Week of Code 23, this was my first online competition. I got the email to start the first challenge and I clicked the link, then I went to do something else. When I got back I solved the challenge in 5 minutes (or less idk). I clicked submit, and then looked at the leaderboard.
My current position was something around 900 and I took 70+ minutes to complete the assignment xD :p

I hate it when people don't tell me what they actually want. To be fair though, I should have guessed that if they wanted a leaderboard that they would also want to download a text based version for reports and such...

How is randomly calling people without any prior discussion still the primary way to conduct phone interviews? It's like selecting olympic runners by doing a prior survey of people who sometimes go jogging, at random hours of the day telling them to get to your office as fast as possible and taking their distance over time as their score on the national leaderboard.
Especially when I'm already in contact with the recruiter over e-mail or IM, it would take no effort whatsoever to send a message like "could we have a call in an hour?" It would feel haphazard and somewhat disrespectful to receive an e-mail like that, right? Well, this would be a million times better than an unprompted call.5 -
Can I just say, fuck app wrappers.
Why? Well let me tell you the story of cordova.
My plan was to make a leaderboard kind of thing for the tablesoccer we do at the place I'm interning at.
How it would work:
app -> create game -> API -> live feed
Buttons (flic) -> API
API -> RTU -> live feed
They use Symfony internally and externally, so that was my first go to.
I couldn't find any way to do Symfony that can do RTU without running another service.
As they really want an app but it's not their core domain I looked around for options for wrappers and decided to put RTU on the backburner.
Setting up cordova was slightly annoying but was okay. I got to building the base app.
Then I thought, maybe let's get RTU working with cordova. Looked at the options that were available. Decided to check out socketio since it had an tutorial for cordova. Tried it and it didn't work. Went over the whole internet but nobody seems to have a solution that works (the most recent post being 2017)
So I thought, let's get websockets to work instead, but again. Seems like O just can't get it to work.
So, guess what I'm going to do?
AJAX ever 1 second to the API.
Why the hell does RTU have to be so hard cordova. You are the only open source wrapper that's both multiplatform and easy to set up. Why can't you just work...
I might just call it quits on the app and just make a mobile friendly website instead.. Where socketio and websockets just work. As does SSE..
I'm tired, so sorry for the rambling I hope somebody can make sense of this mess. -
Hello, I'm new to programming and I need to write a website that allow some people to bet for sports match scores (without any money, just for fun). I want it to have leaderboard, personal statistics, easy way to add and remove teams from database (last one for administrator). My question is what programming language/maybe framework will be the best for that? I'm interested only in this bet system because rest is almost done. Thanks for help4

been wanting to make a landing page where students in universities sign up, and they can see a leaderboard score of sign-ups per universities on the page as well. What is the best way to do this? Appreciate any feedback on this question, I am a new dev!2
