They announce the results and that was where the fucking plot twist was.
I was *not* on the list. I was devastated, to the point of depression. I refused to get over it, sulked at home, fell sick, skipped college for next two weeks straight. It took a few more days for me to recover.
After several visits from my friends and a lot of convincing, I decided to go back to college. I felt hopeless and had pretty much resigned to my fate. Being the idiot that I am, I missed several other interview opportunities during that interim when I was despairing-away.
Semester exams were about to start and I get a call from my staff saying I had cleared the coding exam for one of the companies that was coming for recruitment the next day. I had written this exam like several months ago and didn’t even remember having written it. It was such a short notice and I had zero time to prepare and my psyche didn’t want to(remember how I had resigned to my fate?).
I did manage to make it to the interview. I was expecting a tough interview (this company had a reputation for having tough interview rounds) but all I got was a bunch of tree and linked list and search algorithm related questions (internship interview). I had two rounds. It did really go well but I had learnt to not get my hopes up. Then I noticed other interviewees being called for a third round and they asked me to go home. I was like “meh”. I was used to it at that point in time.
Very unexpected to me, (but i’m pretty sure y’all have guessed at this point) I get a call saying, they have recruited me as an intern! 6 months later, I was working as an employee!
When I look back today, I realize that my current job, in every way, is waay better than the one I had so desperately wanted! The pay, the timing, the location, my actual job description, all of it! As a bonus I have an awesome manager who trusts me! I work with remotely with a team with such high standards and I learn something new everyday.
In my two years here, I have built a couple automation systems from scratch, I have mentored an intern and got him a full time offer, I have had two free two-week trips to the US and I have been promoted once! I’m so glad I was rejected that day (:
Thank you for reading!17 -
Life is hard.
You are born. DNA gets determined. You go through infancy.
Puberty comes and DNA is like
"uh from now you'll pretty much have strong sexual urges, a huge desire to be sexually prolific, nothing weird like being pedo or into rape though".
me: Uh ok.
dna: oh, also, you're gonna be one of those late bloomers, you know, you talk like shit, you dress like shit, you smell like shit.
life: that's true and also you don't have anyone in your life to teach you about that shit, so forget about kissing, having sex, let alone being in a relationship for a long time.
*a lot of years go by with a lot of missed opportunities, mistakes and regrets*
life: ok, you seem to have become a decent sex partner out of a lot of scarring experiences, but there's one problem: you've fallen in love with somebody.
and you're married
and you have kids
me: well, does that mean I can't fuck other people?
life: yeah, no. I'm surprised I even have to explain that, it's called cheating. It will pretty much ruin your marriage, and fuck up your kids.
me: ok, I guess no then. I'm still fortunate enough to have sex with my wife right?
life: yeah... but you still want to fuck other people
me: what???
life: yeah, did you think that falling in love would make you not want to fuck other people? fuck no
me: ok, well I'm very grateful that I get to experience sex at all.
life: yes... there's a thing though, your partner has a much much lower libido than you.
me: ok, well maybe if I exercise and dress better that might change
life: that will definitely help, you'll feel more confident and have more stamina, but every time you retry exercising, you remember how much you hate it and how little stamina you have.
oh, I'm sorry, I forgot you had kids and work, yeah no time or energy for that.
me: ok, then should I just embrace a more liberal lifestyle, like becoming a swinger?
life: ha, fat chance, it's a very taboo thing and you're not that liberal, neither is she.
me: uhhh, i guess i can sometimes watch porn then...
life: watching porn regularly will make the only sex that you have worse, according to statistics.
me: ok, I guess I should get ripped17 -
So, I am currently seeking opportunities at other companies. I randomly got a call on Thursday around 12pm from an unknown number and I was not able to take that call as I was in a meeting. Later on, after looking up that number on Truecaller, I found out that it’s a recruiter from a US-based firm that I had applied to earlier. I immediately tried to call that person again but she was not able to talk as she was in another meeting. I tried texting the recruiter asking for her availability but she didn’t respond. I called again and this time she got annoyed at me, saying that she will call me back if needed. Now, on the weekend I again tried to message her, asking when she is free for a conversation, she is acting high and mighty, saying that she will call me when we (the company) have interviews again (hinting that I have missed the opportunity and it’s my fault). Her passive-aggressive attitude seems to be coming because I didn’t take her earlier call— I did not deliberately avoid her call, I was in another meeting. I was not given any intimation that she is going to call me— let alone on a weekday at 12pm. My current company expects a high-level of professionalism and I intend to show the same level of professionalism in any future companies that I work with. This kind of dehumanization (mainly due to a power imbalance in top-down heirarchical structure) is why big companies have hard time retaining workers these days. And this company was not Google/Apple or anything remotely in the same league. So I seemed to have dodged a bullet there.4

A group that I met at a gathering of my school wanted to make this 1v1 fight game.
We got a group whatsapp going, assigned roles, planned a meeting and discussed some general ideas.
I was excited and looking forward to developing.
Meeting comes: there are two people present, myself and the 'lead developer' dude. We discuss some general stuff about the setting of the game. I ask him what he is planning for the actual development: "I don't know yet, I'll look into it"
After that the group gradually stopped talking about it and the idea just died .....3 -
a very polite recruiter in linkedin after our connection asked me why i choose this kind of career. I answered this and i hope i did not ranted a lot :)
i was trying to figure out what profession would make me more happy than others. I was always felt comfortable with computers, i was installing cracked games, exploring folders to paste the cracks etc. later in school when i learned the first algorithms like bubblesort i was knowing that i liked it. I also like working in silence while searching for solutions. That is the first part, the second is that i made a search about what industries would give me a safer future and international opportunities without having to be stuck in my country only. By working and getting more experience i felt in love with my job and trying to learn everything i missed and give to my boss or customers professional results with quality. I like it as a lifestyle, it combines a magic feeling of spells with the logical procedures of science. So why not? it combines all my loves together: creative thinking, technology, mental work, internet, music at the workflow, job demand, opportunities, and money! I hope i helped you my friend i am at your service for every question you have :)11 -
A client brought us a project once related to drones. Our team came up with a great solution for the problem and pitched it back to the client. After going back and forth and beating us up on the price, they ultimately got cold feet and stopped responding to us.
Flash forward several months and wouldn't you know it, NASA and Lockhead Martin have the same idea and file the patent. Could have been sitting pretty if the client just went through and filed our design first which would have barely cost anything.2 -
Should I be ashamed of not having posted anything for almost two weeks? I've missed 132 opportunities to post...2

I know why group work sucked in school. It was a missed opportunity to teach project management and accountability. We’re almost always left to sort it out ourselves.

I NEED A HACKER TO RECOVER MY STOLEN BITCOIN BACK HIRE ADWARE RECOVERY SPECIALIST
I couldn't help but feel grateful for the role that ADWARE RECOVERY SPECIALIST had played in my success. Without their help, I might have given up on cryptocurrency investment altogether. My journey began in a time when Bitcoin was surging, and I found myself caught up in the excitement. I invested a significant portion of my savings, driven by the allure of quick riches. Yet, not long after, the market crashed. I watched helplessly as my investments dwindled to a fraction of their value. Panic set in. I scoured forums and watched endless videos, but the more I learned, the more confused I became. Every missed opportunity weighed heavily on my shoulders. Just when I thought all hope was lost, I stumbled upon ADWARE RECOVERY SPECIALIST. Their website was sleek and inviting, promising to help investors like me navigate the tumultuous waters of cryptocurrency. Skeptical but desperate, I decided to give it a chance. ADWARE RECOVERY SPECIALIST dissected my financial situation and the decisions I had made. They transformed my fears into actionable insights. Instead of disappearing into the shadows of defeat, they showed me how to harness the chaos of the market. It wasn't just about recouping my losses; it was about strategizing for the future. With their guidance, I learned to analyze market trends, understand risk management, and spot emerging opportunities. I dove deeper into blockchain technology, and I even picked up coding to better grasp the systems behind the currencies I was investing in. They provided tools and resources I had never considered before, turning me from a mere investor into an informed participant in the crypto space. As I watched the market begin to stabilize, I made calculated moves that surprised even me. What began as a recovery plan morphed into a thriving portfolio. I diversified my investments, explored altcoins, and engaged with communities of like-minded enthusiasts. Each small victory built my confidence, and soon I was easily navigating trades that once seemed daunting. The turning point came when a new cryptocurrency project emerged on the scene, promising revolutionary applications for smart contracts. Armed with the knowledge from ADWARE RECOVERY SPECIALIST, I recognized its potential before it exploded in popularity. I seized the moment and invested strategically, leading to returns that far exceeded my previous losses. In the quiet evenings, while watching the markets fluctuate, I often reflected on how far I had come. ADWARE RECOVERY SPECIALIST had not only restored my confidence but also equipped me with knowledge that transformed my life. I was no longer just a victim of a crash but a proactive player in an ever-evolving digital landscape. Wait no more, call: for help.24 -
Not embracing the dev community in university more. I wasn’t a particularly good student but I missed some opportunities to be involved in some cool projects. I know that there will be more opportunities later in life, but I regret taking those opportunities for granted.

It's nice to finally figure out how to solve a complex puzzle in a coding project.
For me, this usually happens at a line in the grocery store or better yet at the lobby of the kindergarden while I'm picking up my kids.1 -
