I SWEAR THIS JUST HAPPENED:
My Teacher: *Sends a random programming question to solve on the class group*
Fellow Classmate: *sends solution within a minute*
My Teacher: Good, but everybody knows how to use the internet only a few know how to use the brain. We now know which category you belong to.
I have this one question..
So when I want to ask something or posting/ranting something, there are different categories.. I can differentiate between others vs a collab.. but what about questions, rants, about devrant, random, what are the differences between these categories apart from the specific category helping the algo to populate your newsfeed..
It happened just now.
Yes, I put "there is no need to be upset 10 hours" on governmental terminal.
How? Well, I discovered that it was web ui, so random menu category -> random external governmental website with Google map on it -> you know the rest.5
Idea: automatic post category suggestion for devRant
This would solve the problem of people tagging their posts wrong, and other people complaining and whining about it. I have no idea how to actually implement this, but it would work something like this:
Rant: text with swear words, exclamation marks and words/ sentences typed in CAPS LOCK. Generally longer texts.
Joke/meme: short text/caption with image attached
Question: generally shorter post with question marks
Devrant: text with words like “feature suggestion”, “devRant”, @dfox @trogus” etc.
Random: everything that does not fall under any of the previous categories.
Before posting, the post would be analyzed and then sorted into a category. Then a check is performed whether or not the actually selected category matches the found one. If not, the poster is prompted with the correct category and can confirm whether he chose the wrong category or not. Would something like that work? Or is it just a stupid idea by an inexperienced young dude?12
Just created my first discord server after seeing so many people from here mention it. The questions I have are, why? What makes it better than say slack or something else? Is it prone to spam or bots? How is it for gaming?5
Somebody posted some weeks ago a "dontthink" website, which had random education or other category videos, does somebody remember what it was?12
