For frigging fucks sake, I wanna smash some plates, trash the furniture, break some walls, get a tank and shoot stuff.
I'm so fucking angry.
And I dunno why.
Maybe I'm pregnant, dunno, but being emotional and angry isn't my forte.
Where's the shitty motherfugging off button and who wrote the manual for this mediocre piece of shit called soul?10
Manager: That last dev you hired is working out well. Where did you get him from?
Dev: *Looking at new hire’s resume which only contains a single bootcamp and nothing else*
Dev: He’s a rescue.11
I need an AI that can figure out how to compile this POS project at my company. Nobody who works here knows how to compile the damn thing. The last guy that might have known his computer was wiped. I am going to ask that people document their current build environments and how to build. That way 5 years from now I don't have to deal with this shit again.1
Oh, there's a "clear"-button for the notifications.
Thank goodness, I thought I'd have to actually *read* all your posts. Phew, close one.1
I was just thinking how I could have used the. A* algorithm to accomplish making something other than the junky once and never use again kiosk program my firm was contracted for years ago
Spent my long weekend building a custom LAN image hosting thing on a Raspberry Pi because I was sick of emailing myself photos
I need to go outside more6
Guys, I've been learning about XDSD and... it seems to good to be true. Anyone here has experience with it? Or has someone worked for Zerocracy and has an experience to report?
Please PLEASE tell me it's not a scam. I'd LOVE to work this way.
gov't: we *need* more programmers! If you like computers, go to our site and fill out this form!
*goes to site*
*site doesn't even load*
OF FUCKING COURSE38
*looks around apprehensively* crazy planned electrical outage again with sinks that require power to run
God if we ever revert to analog we’re boned

"Oh I have experience in that library. Perhaps I could help"
* we explain our problem *
"Hmmm yeah, you should probably refer to the docs."
So we started a new Unity video game project for mobile in June 2021. Hooray!
Being a mobile project, one of the earliest things we think about is scaling the interface across all sorts of device screen resolutions and aspect ratios, right? Well, to preemptively solve this problem early on, I decided to letterbox the game view - just choose one aspect ratio for the game and pad black bars to the sides of the screen. Simple, solves the game's world space problem without trying too hard, and it automatically adapts to Android's split-screen mode.
I showed the early builds to management as well as game design team and they gave me some general nods. Sounds like green light ahead. I spent the next few months building the game logic and scale the UI around a consistent letterboxed game view. If you had experience scaling Unity UI to a letterboxed area, you should already knew that it takes a whole paradigm of its own that's kinda hard to break out of, but the fact that it stays consistent across all screen aspect ratios is so worth it. Regardless, the biggeer benefit of letterboxing is simpler world space setup. You don't worry about whether this particular area will be overflowed horizontally or vertically in a particular device or not. You have a 9:16 window to view the world through, nothing needs to move at runtime and that's about it.
Fast-forward to early September 2021 and 40+ builds later, the GD started having concern that the playing area is not filling up his phone screen and that the letterboxes are bothering him. He wants to get rid of the letterboxes and wants the game world as well as UI to fill up his screen.
Yes. After 40+ builds, for all of which the letterbox was present, nobody in the project raised a concern about the letterbox. It's only NOW that they all of the sudden side with the GD and demand the removal of the letterbox. I feel like almost half of my effort on this game has been wasted. These clueless guys didn't spend one second looking at the early builds thinking of the possibility that the black bars at the top and bottom of their phone screens (which I repeat: has been around since the very first build) is gonna bother them? Somebody must be playing a cruel joke at this company. They had all the chances to bring this up as a potential issue and TODAY is the first time I hear of it.
See, designers. You waste our time and your time by doing this kind of thing. Please raise your issues early. Complain to us ASAP. If you wait for so long before raising an issue that has been in-your-face the whole time, I can't fault any developer for assuming you're trying to play a long prank. I can tell designers right now: it's not funny.1
TLDR; Anybody got a good method of running multiple terminals with one command without tmux or something like that?
So I've got a lot of projects where I need multiple terminals running at the same time. Might be a backend + frontend application or something that's just split into multiple smaller applications. I usually just start multiple terminals and enter the commands to start the specific sub-application in each of them, but that's tedious, and developers are lazy.
I've tried making something nice with tmux, but I've found it to be a bit too cumbersome. Let's say I need to restart an application. Two interrupts and I've stopped one of four panes. And it's not very intuitive for beginners, and more often than not there are other developers involved.
Any suggestions on a good way to run multiple commands/applications at the same time, preferably with a single command? It has to work cross-platform as well as I work with Linux, Mac and Windows users.10
Before I dip my toes on machine learning, let me leave some silly comments so I can laugh at myself in the future.
Let's make geth.
1. The model will spit out layer definitions and the size of sample data for training, children models are trained with limited computational resources.
2. Child models are voters that only response in terms of yes/no. A simple majority wins and then the action is taken.
3. The only goal for master models are to survive. i.e. To prevent me from killing them.
1. How do models respond to a random output size? (Study GPT-3, should take weeks/months but worth it.)
2. How to define actions for voters to vote? Sounds like the boundary between actions should be blurry and votes can be changed from tick to tick (i.e. responding to something in a split second). Therefore
3. Why I haven't seen this yet? Is this design a stupidly complex way of achieving the same thing done by a simple neural network?
I am full of curiosity and stupidness.5
If you're going to allow people to have bright yellow as a background color, at least make the text dark.
So a new project was assigned to me with Laravel. I don't know abcd of this But have to do within strict deadlines :(
Very much hectic weeks for me... waking up long nights,,,, working on weekends..
Hope so will soon grab on it and will complete task in less time.
Now am thinking does being developer is ok for long term. :( Sometime it really become very very hectic.. And How can I take less stress about the pending tasks.. I mean if something got stuck .. my mind will stay there until I finished/solved that off :(
Any advicess from those are in long run being dev2
Some people are just inherently retards and there's nothing that can be done about it.
So this intern of mine (not really an intern because she is older than me but new to the field so whatever), is driving me nuts.
There's a file on cloud, she was given to refer during the initial training.
The current link is no longer accessible because whoever the fuck owned it has left or revoked the access.
So I ask her if she has a copy of the file because I want to refer it.
She replies saying:
"Can you share anither link, the current links shows some error"
Holy freaking lord. The keyword in my request was COPY. Why on this sweet sunny earth I'd ask you if the link worked and file was available!!!!
And she couldn't even comprehend that the error is about access. Just says SOME error.
I'll be spending next 2.5 hours reviewing her 1 week of work submissions (which has been ongoing since 3+ weeks now and should have taken 3 hours to finish).
This has got nothing to do with anyone's gender but all about my experience with them.24
1. Think about it.
2. Get super hyped.
3. Tell everyone.
4. Go to step 1.
5. Plan it
so does anyone know about various social media clients that are true bots and not ones that actually register with the service but just emulate a web browser and fill in parts of the rendered dom and press buttons and shit ? i really don't want to have to write one in electron.14
I'm thrilled to announce I am now a Rollercoaster Tycoon.
I could never imagine accepting such an amazing position.
