Yesterday. It took me way to long to figure out why my mouse wasn't working....
Thanks, dear colleagues!

Sometimes when I need a break from coding and life... I gather a bunch of wood and have a bonfire In my backyard late into the night and listen to Alan watts for hours... This guy is the most brilliant philosopher ever... There's something about a fire + a bottle of wine deep + Alan watts that simply puts me in the most peaceful state of mind I've ever had...

Another dev on my team just got a new machine. Before he came in today I made two separate USB installers and left him these notes.62

Don't drink 2 espressos as breakfast and go on a one-hour toiletless train ride.
60 minutes is a long time to frantically debate with yourself what would look weirder: Shitting in your laptop bag, or pressing your butt against the small sliding window.12 -

I built a decently large project at work, and everything works perfectly. It's beautiful, it's fast, it's light, it's organized and clean, and deploying is a breeze. I'm very proud of it.
The biggest reason, though, is that it uses exclusively technology I had never touched before:
• React
• Redux
• ES6/Babel
• Webpack
• Express.js
• Material Design
• Apple lappy (I'm a linux girl)
I was completely new to all of these, including my dev machine. Every single aspect of the project was outside my skillet.
But it went from my first experimental `import React from 'react'` to production-ready in three weeks. I'm really proud 😊14 -
I went to a hackathon and I was surprised to see that the judge was a fellow devranteer himself! Saw many people with devrant Stickers on their laptop! The community is spreading...9

I might have to say goodbye to all the tech I have now because my parents are pissed off about me not wanting to talk everything about the university.
Everything... Just taken away if I don't tell them exact fucking grades in every subject until tomorrow.
How about killing me now, huh? At least I would fucking have an ending to my suffering under them.78 -
Who else does this?
>Work on a website for weeks without taking a break.
>Really enjoy the outcome, take a deserved 2 days off.
>Come back to your code, suddenly you don't know where to start, you feel disgusted by your code and you totally change your idea on how your website should look in the first place.
>Delete it, start from scratch.6 -
Started talking about Pi-Hole (still trying to install this fucker by the way) today with a collegue.
He had it installed and showed me around a little.
CW: Alright give me an example then I'll show you wildcard blocking.
Me: google.com 😅
CW: *enters and saves it. then tries to load anything related to google.com*
*no google.com domains load, all give a blocked error*
Me: Works great!
CW: Yup.
...
...
...
...
Me: Uhm so you aren't like surprised that I went with google.com as example and that I'd genuinely would block it?!
CW: No, why would I be?
Me: Well, most people consider me paranoid/crazy the second they find out I don't want to use google/google's services.
CW: well that's fucking retarded. why would anyone redicule you for not using something you don't want to use. You'll have your reasons.
Me: So if I'd say i do it for privacy reasons, you wouldn't find that redicilous?
CW: No, why would I? Not using google (and for that matter facebook etc) for privacy reasons is very logical really.
FUCKING. THANK. YOU.22 -
This is fucking annoying with some clients.
Client calls:
Me: Hello, how can I help you?
Client: *explains problem*
Me: *tells possible solution*
Client: you sound young, could you connect me to a more senior person?
Me: Sure.
Collegue: Hello, how can I help you?
Client: *explains problem again*
Collegue: *gives same solution as me*
Client: Oh uhm but that's the same solution the boy I had on the phone before you told me.
Collegue: Yeah......?
Client: well he sounded so young...
Collegue: Being young does not equal being inexperienced/less knowing about something.39 -
You know what? I'm fucking done with people telling me that open source alternatives to popular/proprietary suck by default.
Something does NOT suck by default just because it's FUCKING open source.
Have you got any fucking clue where we'd be right now if open source software didn't exist?!
Let me just remind you that about 80 percent of the worlds' servers run Linux. Open-FUCKING-source.
How the fuck are we supposed to innovate without open sourceness? Yes indeed, that would be about fucking impossible.
Although I've got to admit that some open source software programs don't work 100 well (in comparison to alternatives), what are you expecting? People put their free time into that shit and they've got to make money as well.
"well how are programmers supposed to feed their families if they only write open source software?"
Fuck right off. Of course we all need an income to survive. Hell, I need that as fucking well. But there's more to it than just work. Some people consider open source/working on open source software a hobby/passion. That doesn't even remotely mean thaty they don't work/don't need some kind of income.
If it wasn't for open source, we'd be nowhere (technologially seeing) right now.36 -
when you google your thoughts even if you don't expect to find any result, but surprisingly you discover that you're not alone :')11

Got caught using linux terminal by school security. They took my laptop away and drove me across campus in their security carts to take me to the office.
It took a long time to explain that I wasn't maliciously hacking the school.
This is the third time I've been in trouble for tech-related activity.
On the bright side, one of the security guards said, "I'm done dealing with teenagers. Next time I won't work for a high school."
I think he's going to quit. :)13 -
I was working on an annoying bug in my genetic algorithm for about two hours when i realised it's late and decided to call it a night. Turned off my pc, shut everything down. Just as I was brushing my teeth I got enlightened by the code gods and suddenly i knew exactly how to fix the bug. Toothbrush in hand i booted the whole system again and successfully fixed it in 2 minutes.
Thank you code gods, i may now sleep in peace.1
