My username is a shortened version of my full name, "Gideon Ogbonnaya." For most people, it is difficult to pronounce, even though the word "Gideon" is short. I often get asked to repeat it. In my early days on the internet, I typically used the username "Giddy99" on most platforms when signing up. I used "Giddy" as my first name and "Naya" as my last name.

The name selection happened naturally as it became the norm during registration, as it was faster to type. Over time, "Giddy99" gradually transitioned into "GiddyNaya," which made more sense and was always available for me to use.

When I was 16 (legal age of drinking here), a few friends and I went to a pub. we were with 3 there and we all shared the same first name (also written the same way)*.

An older drunk guy started to talk to us and he asked for our names. First one said his name, all good. Second one said his name, he raised his eyebrow. I told him my name (again, the same as the first 2) and he called bullshit on that and started calling me Wojtek. Since that day, my friends and then my classmates called me Wojtek and I decided to embrace it as my username.

Since this name is common in Poland (never been to poland), it is taken on a lot of platforms so I added 322 because that is a meme in a very specific game.

    * I want to add that we were all in the same class of 21 people. There were only 3 people in that school with that name.

I'm sort of known for creating paper trails of documentation to cover my ass when (not if) poor/bad mgmt decisions occur and they are looking for a scapegoat.

Mgr: "Who made this delete button green! It's terrible! Heads will roll!!"

Me: "You requested I change the delete button from red to green because green is your favorite color."

    Mgr: "That's a lie!"

Me: "Here is the change request...line 25, change the this button to my favorite color, green."

Mgr: "That request was 2 years ago!!...why do you still have that!?"

Me: "I knew eventually you or someone would want to know why and here it is"

Mgr: <whispers> "asshole, always covering his ass"

    Me: "What?"

Mgr: "Nothing, just change the damn button color back."

@GiddyNaya your name reminds me of Kirito from SAO. His full name is Kazuto Kirigaya.

When I worked fast food I bleached my hair blond. At the time the movie Demolition Man was popular. So people started calling me Demolition. (Yes, Wesley Snipes was not the Demolition Man, but oh well.) When trying to get online names Demolition was always taken. So I started using Demolishun.

An IRL acquiaintance found my DevRant profile so I had to come up with a username that's different from my main nick quickly to ensure that stalkers won't find it when starting from any other place.

The tone of DevRant is very different from any other space I'm active in. There's nothing in my profile I'd need to hide, but randos googling my nickname wouldn't compare my posts to others here.

Vacant everywhere. Not many people use adjectives as monikers. Esp that ambiguous

so far I only had to choose a variation of my nickname like 4 times in the last *teen years. Adj paid off

Mispronounced "Finally" cus of some exicting stuff happening, getting the nickname "Finlay" after a bit.

"DaG33k" was our clan tag (we had it as suffix rather than the typical "[TAG]" stuff).

Hence, my nickname is now "FinlayDaG33k".

A "Ranchu" is a kind of goofy goldfish. An onyx is a pretty looking stone. I've decided that I enjoy those two things. So there's that.

@Demolishun I've been bleaching my hair at the hairdresser's for a while now and every time I re-bleach it my colleagues call me HP Baxter.

Mine comes from a tabletop game (like Warhammer but without cool figurines) a friend and I invented back in '97.

My favorite faction had a commander named "chi", as in, Greek X, and had this ultimate move called "core fusion" (my English wasn't good enough to realize it was called meltdown back then 😂). Since I liked playing with it a lot, it kinda stuck.

@Demolishun also am a Scooby Doo fan, didn’t consider that when picking the name, but probably influenced my liking of the word subconsciously

Nostalgia and minor enjoyment when I hear people who just got off work get confused seeing "jiraTicket" in their notifications and get a nasty flashback

My name is pronunciated "Luke" in English. I read this comic a lot when I was young (still occasionally do actually, they're fun). Connect the two and there you go!
