Thoughts on Mr. Robot the show? I'm halfway through season 2 and am utterly taken aback by the brilliance of this series9

How should one go about avoiding reposting memes? Should you scroll through the meme/joke category for a certain amount of time or ignore repost blames altogether?
For the record I'm also against reposting but it just seems inevitable3 -
Being the novice Linux user as I was, I spent nearly all night trying to configure dual boot with some distro (maybe Debian). At about 3 or 4am I was going through the distro's installer and confirmed the previously select partition actions, one of which wipe the wrong partition. 1TB gone 😅👍
Good thing was it was a fresh start for serous projects. -
Is it just me who's never been prevented from working by windows update?
(While working in windows that is)2 -
I know this has become a dead meme by now but for all those who aren't sick of Microsoft/GitHub memes

Original posters (OPs) should be referred to as original ranters so that the abbreviation is OR3 -

Can anybody who resides in Vienna (and has or is studying in the universities there) recommend a university, at which to study Computer Science?1 -
!!!rant // gotta be unique
So upon thorough consideration, I've decided to switch to Linux. I had to use an old laptop which took 2 minutes to get to the desktop with Windows, so I did what every other person would do and installed Linux on it (Ubuntu 17). Although it was incomparable with my dev mashine, it was snappy enough for me and for my web development tools and needs. (git, vscode, slack and chrome)
Cutting to the point, I've heard that thebl next Ubuntu is coming out next month. Should I wait and switch to that or can you guys recommend something better, perhaps Mint or sth else?9 -
@jenochi this is for you
Due to a recent suggestion by the above-mentioned @jenochi, I though that this deserved to be a rant.
Dropping support for IE will once and for all ease web developers lives and it has got to start somewhere. Who's with us!?7 -
Got a note saying that the raspberry pi, a colleague sent to me, has arrived. I immediately went to the post but the person responsible for the packages just walked by me saw I was ending and just looked at me while sipping from his coffee and walking away. Without saying a darn thing. And I was on time 20 minutes before they are supposed to close 😒😑

How to properly confuse an unqualified IT teacher:
Step 1: Go to https://windows93.net/
Step 2: Press F11
Step 3: undefined12 -
So as a student developer with years of background in web development (including both front and backend), c++, java and c#, I was more than surprised when I found out my Informatics assignment hadnt received the proper excellent mark. In fact both me and a friend of mine who has been working with C++ in particular for years got a --mark.
// The assignment was the most simple Windows Forms Application with 2 buttons and a textbox
When we asked about that the teacher said we hadn't labeled the buttons and textboxes, though we had actually taken our time to put labels next to each UI element that would need usage directions.
Though what she meant was renaming the actual variable names, those being textBox1, button1 and button2.
We of course got really mad, because w both follow the accepted naming conventions for each of the languages we write in. Arguing was to no avail. Even telling her that variable naming was not in the assignment instructions was pointless as she said it had been self explanatory..
The others for whom computers are powered by magic, did their assignments as they had memorized everything that teacher had shown them. Why? Because she didn't teach them how to code in the first place. So they copied what would work.
Fucked up educational system, sadly nothing new..
Oh and btw, the naming she uses and teaches students to use is:
button1 - btname
label1- lbname
textBox1 - tbyear2 -
IT teachers here at my school giving us 20 different and completely unsuitable for Access databases businesses, as subjects for indeed Access databases. And then be like "Create documentations for that"
And they actually mean by that is
So I clicked here then there and then I selected and pressed the C symbol key while holding the Control key on the keyboard input device connected on my computer, which happens to be plugged into the wall outlet..
As a full-stack developer this is just so cringy I'm speechless..
