Me: Hey, my laptop (with stickers on it) is in for repair, can't get any work done.
Friend: Oh, that sucks, we going to be delayed launching our app!
... few days later ...
Friend: Hey, did u get it back yet?
Me: They ended up giving me a brand new one cause they couldn't repair it.
Friend: That's awesome man, you got lucky!
Me: F*@$ that, I LOST MY STICKERS!7 -
Thanks for the stickers - putting them to good use on my Windows 98 gaming laptop 😍 She's a beauty, fully loaded up with the classics like Doom, Sim City, Wolfenstein 3D and... Um... VGA Miner 😂19

This is my river baby, a laptop that was broken by its previous owner. It came to me with many dents (I covered those with stickers) and in a not booting state for about $300 after the guy dropped it in a river in South America.
- There is river sediment inside the screen, as well as the motherboard.
- If I put two sticks of RAM in it, the display artifacts all over the place and the computer crashes randomly. One slot must be empty.
- The ODD was filled with literal garbage. There is now a hard drive in its place.
- Running Windows through a VM would cause the WiFi to fail in a confusing manner. No one had ever seen that type of error before. I had to reseat the AirPort card.
- At one point, the power button stopped working, so I removed the keyboard and would start the computer by shorting two pads on the motherboard with a screwdriver.
- I’ve had all sorts of strange issues with it because of the water damage.
- I colored the keyboard with cellophane... 😅
After taking it apart for the 100th time, it’s now completely stable. I’ve had it for about 4 years, but it’s getting slow. I’m not sure what will come after the beloved river baby...17 -
I went to a hackathon and I was surprised to see that the judge was a fellow devranteer himself! Saw many people with devrant Stickers on their laptop! The community is spreading...9

Handed over my keys and computer to my boss a moment ago and left the office for the last time. Spent 3 years there, and most of the people there came with me from my previous job I spent another 3 years at.
Feels heavy to leave a bunch of great people.
Two weeks until I start my job as a developer at a game company though.
Took me 6.5 years of work to finally get there.
Super stoked!
And I won't lie, some stickers on my new work laptop would not be a bad thing.3 -
Am I the only one who doesn't like putting things—such as stickers—on my laptop?
I like the clean and clear look of my lenovo thinkpad without cluttering it with stickers.23 -
Me regarding the stickers, I just don't know if I should wait till I get my new laptop or just put them on my current one10
-
FUCKING SHIT.
I'm at my first Hackathon with my best friends in life and there has never been a time when I've felt this miserable all my life.
The theme is IoT (something idk jackshit about) and people here are done with the projects when we are still at the idea stage.
Yes, it's true that this shit is intense but I really want to do good at this.
This is what I've learned from my first Hackathon:
1. Prepare your shit.
Unless the problem statements are given on the spot, you should've discussed everything that you would be doing and not divert. (We spent 5 hours on a problem statement and then we decided not to go with it.)
2. Have people with different abilities who you can trust to get the work done without you having to give a second thought.
3. Don't you dare build a sub-par application. What's the fucking use of that? Don't do it for the certificate or the stickers. If you do that, then how the fuck can you make yourself put those stickers on your laptop?!
4. Have food. Keep yourself healthy and up to max potential.
5. DO NOT BE DISCOURAGED. A lot of people will look like they're done with the shit. You know what you have to do now? NOT GIVE A FUCK! Just focus and do your thing and make it awesome.7 -
There are things that i wish i didn't see.
Yesterday, i went to a coffee shop to relax and reviewing my works. And suddenly a college friend of mine approach me and we started talking about work.
Me: So, What do you do at work? What's your stack?
Him: Not much of a new. Still working with wordpress, html, css and jquery.
So he started talking about how cool wordpress is and how he generates money doing sites.
Me: Can i see your sample works?
Him: Sure, *opens his shitty windows laptop with Web Tech stickers*. and handover his laptop to me.
Me: Woah. the design is so neat (I'm lying). But it's freaking slow man(REALLY FVCKING SLOW).
* I decided to open the devTools and inspected the source code. And I can't believe what i saw.
- 20+ images with 2~4mb file size
- 13 unminified javascript files with variable declarations that looks like minified.
- CDN's of bootstrap, foundation and semantic UI
- LOTS OF FVCKING PLUGINS
* I didn't told him what i saw. I just turn over the laptop to him and finish my coffee.
Him: My sites are cool right? I have a lot of pending projects right now. Easy money Bruh!
Me: Wow. *sips* coffee. and say goodbye to him and walkout.
I FEEL BAD FOR HIS CLIENTS!4 -
Ok, I get it, stickers are "cool". However, every time I see a laptop full of them I can't help but think three things.
1) Why on earth would your ruin a perfectly nice, clean, design.
2) I see the stickers and think "wow, (s)he must really be a fan of a lot of tech companies
3) I think your were one of those kids in school that glued stickers of skateboard apparel manufacturers to your backpack because it was the "cool" thing to do.
But mainly the ruined design thing bothers me. Just..... WHY!?!15 -
My duck came in, along with his two capes, the stickers I forgot to ask for, and the note I requested.
In the special instructions box, I asked that they include a note that said something random, and they delivered.
"devRant ducks do dances directly downstairs daily"
Well done @dfox @trogus or whoever does the shipments, I'm thoroughly entertained :D8 -
If you ever cooperate on a feature like this as a developer, I will find out where you live, drug you just enough to make your body limp, and mutilate your genitals with my keyboard.
Fucking sexist pricks, assuming I want to play with the blue robots and not the pink dolls. Fuck all of them.
Actually, fuck all your retarded cablecutting VOD services with your awful recommendation engines. Fuck your lack of proper playback features, fuck your bloated mobile apps, fuck your vendor lockins, fuck your region locks.
I'm back to pirating, and I'll just buy a pile of merch, trot proudly through the office with an Adventure Time backpack and a laptop full of Steven Universe stickers.32 -
Everybody talks about burnout syndrome or crappy tech interviews, but not about a real struggle for devs, bubbles in their laptop stickers.3
-
Got my long-awaited stickers a few days ago, thanks devRant! Now I 'just' need to buy a new laptop to stick them on (which will probably not happen until ~December..)3
-
I Don't want to be that guy that has stickers on his laptop that he didn't "earn" them.
That is, if I am not fluent in AWS I won't plaster their stickers, even though I attented one course one time.
Just a thought11 -
I don't have any laptop stickers. I don't know if that makes me insane or one of the non-crazy people. I just don't like the idea of turning my laptop into a Nascar of tech companies/frameworks/bad Linux jokes. Not to mention stickers can be a real pain to get off.13

I don't like stickers on my laptop because it clutters it up. But today I realized the importance of them.
A few months ago I was sitting at a coffee shop working on a paper and I noticed a guy with this cool sticker on a MacBook Pro: it had the integral symbol to the left of the Apple logo, and to the right of it a lowercase d and another Apple logo. It took me a few hours to realize what it meant, but I finally did and at that point I also guessed that not many people know what it is.
So I, as antisocial as I am, I finish up my work and before I leave I walk up to him and say hi. At this point I'm a senior in high school and I learn he's a junior in the same college I plan to attend. We talked a little before I had to leave and got to know each other somewhat.
After I leave I find him on Instagram and Facebook and friend him and such.
Recently I posted a picture saying I had recently joined the Apple Developer Team, and also recently reposted a memory on Facebook from 5 years ago that was a screen capture of an iPhone 4 simulator running iOS 5 showing off one of my first apps.
Then yesterday I get a message from the guy I met at the coffee shop asking for some help with an iOS project he's working on. We decide to meet today and I spend the entire morning showing him the basics of Swift, Xcode, Interface Builder, etc. I feel like I really helped him jumpstart his app and helped him understand the basics of different concepts.
If he didn't have that integral sticker on his laptop I would have never had this opportunity to finally share some iOS development experience.
For this I would like to thank my high school calculus teacher, with whom I spent many classes at Starbucks because I was an only student. I'd like to thank laptop stickers, and finally I would like to thank the coffee shop.
TL;DR: Said hi to a guy with an integral sticker on his laptop, a few months later he approaches me for help understanding iOS development.2 -

So instead of 15 tech-stickers from china, I got 33 rick and morty stickers and actually am not mad, because now I can finally make proper use of my devrant stickers I got a long time ago
the dead morty isn't yet attached to it, because I might get other stickers, that could need space (tiny laptops do make you picky), so I'd slap him on somewhere else or inbetween, that's also the first time I have actually ever put any stickers on my laptops12 -
When you love free dev swags
Thanks Mullvad!
P.S. @dfox @trogus Can you add the webcam stickers in the swag store? (Like the ones in the middle of pic)20 -
The worst part of getting a new laptop is having to say goodbye to all the stickers you invested on your old one44
-
My 17" companion just arrived 😎 Looking forward to boost up the enthusiasm!
Aaaand put Linux in there.4 -
so I compiled and printed some mini stickers for my laptop and thought I'd share them with the community. Great if you want to be subtle or don't like big stickers clogging the looks of your precious babe. All images are high res so you can expand them if you'd want that.
(stickers use black background cuz my laptop is black and its easier to cut out but you can change that)

I only have one rule when it comes to stickers on laptop:
Do I reguraly use the software on the sticker? - If yes, apply to PC6 -
First time my laptop acted as a CV.
I've been in a personal project with my pal for like a three months. We meet sometimes at a cafe which is a very nice workplace, we often see more people with laptops, so we are not the only ones that thinks so.
My pal was waiting for me, he got a table early and then I arrived. there was a guy nearby us.
Me: (this guy has a newest new macbook pro, fucking riche)
-- I sit, put my laptop and start to work with my pal --
The guy starts looking at my stickers without hiding his doing at all. I noticed that instantly
Me: (Crap, he's gonna ask something :( )
-- I kept discussing stuff with my pal for like 5 minutes and then it happened. the guy stands up and... --
Guy: hey! how are you? sorry for bother, are you perhaps developers? I'm asking because I saw your stickers
Me: mmm yes
Guy: Do you have a job currently?
Me: We are in a project (No need to mention this is personal project and I got my full time job)
Guy: Oh, ok, no problem, you see I got a company, and currently we are looking for people to work with us, we want frontend developers with javascript skills preferable, but anything is welcome. Interviews starts next week, so if you are interested or know someone that could be, I'll give you my card and please write me at my mail if anything.
Me: got it, no problem.
-- I tried my best to hide my displeasure face(but I think I showed it a little), for him to being a riche with a new macbook pro, and you know, the interruption, I wanted to be focused while working in da project --
-- I got the card, I read it a bit, didn't dig into too much, there was stuff to do at the moment. the guy already returned to his chair and my friend --
Pal: Excuse me Mr Guy, what's the job tittle?
Me: (FUCK! dude!, we're working in our shit, don't give him more reason to try to scout us. we are behind the schedule and I need to explain this shit to you FFS)
Guy: Oh yes, will be frontend developer(again), but if you are a full stack that will be a plus too, we got some stuff with angular 1.x(ugh), and sencha touch(ugh) and ...(don't remember what else was it)
Pal: Ok and the job is full time in site? or are you open to work remotely
Me: (ok man, you sound interested, that makes me look interested too >:( )
Guy: preferable in site, but we would consider remotely depending on the person.
Pal: Good! thank you very much Mr. X
Guy: cool
-- Later on, like two hours, my friend goes to the counter for more coffee --
-- I text him: dude, I feel the guy will kidnap me or something --
-- then the guy start looking again at my laptop and... ---
Guy: hey! Jhon was your name right? Do you have experience with devops? I see your aws stickers
Me: yes
Guy: do you have experience with microservices?
Me: yes, a bit with lambda, also I've done some stuff with kubernetes, opsworks, rds and whatnot. no biggie
Guy: oh cool! we have a devops job too, there is a migration we need to do for an app to micro services. again if you are interested or know someone that it does. please mail me :)
Me: gotcha
There were no further interactions with Mr. Guy the rest of the day.
I'll be thrilled if someone ask me about my bee and puppycat sticker12 -
The stickers are here bitches! 🙂🙃😆
Thanks devrant.
The stickers will have to wait until I get a new laptop though.
Also I'm extremely grateful for the time you take to mail us the goodies. And on your expenses even.
Thanks :)2 -
Received devRant stickers today. First international package. :D.
One of this stickers is going on my bike or bike helmet. For others, waiting for new laptop. Thanks David, Tim and team devRant from Mumbai, India.13 -
WHAT THE HELL??
It's been over TWO WEEKS now and my Arch sticker pack still has NOT arrived!!!
I'm really starting to get mad now.
Unlike the stickers, my brand new laptop has arrived. But as you might have guessed, it's completely useless at the moment.
Like, what's even the point of having a laptop with Arch, when you can't show everyone else you're using Arch? So humiliating, can't even go in public now with that laptop.
People in the cafeteria will look at the back of my laptop without knowing I'm using Arch. The shame... Almost inhuman.
My only option is to go to speak to everyone individually to tell them I'm using Arch.
However, that might be risky. Imagine if I would miss someone!? They would leave without knowing I was using Arch.
In fact, I might not even meet them EVER AGAIN! In that case they would NEVER know I was on Arch! OMG! TOO MUCH HORROR!!!
All this because of a shity manufacturer.
Manufacturers like this really piss me off.
Because YOU can NOT ship on time I have to WASTE precious time now, THANKS A LOT China Stickers Corporation.10 -
JUST GOT MY STICKERS!!
Super cool that they wrote the address on envelope by hand! Love the stamp btw ;)
Gonna stick these on my laptop!
Thanks @dfox !6 -
I have an unpopular opinion. I think laptop stickers are ugly in general. They make a cacophony of brand names and colors on an otherwise sleek device! Why!21
-
Am I the only one that prefers a clean laptop with no stickers?
(I do put all my stickers in a notebook however.)6 -
Unfortunately I don't have a laptop, but my raspberryPi will do just fine (I will use other stickers when I get a laptop). Thanks for the stickers :)1
-
Why would someone do this to his/her laptop????
There is a point after which this "stickers on a laptop" thing starts looking like shit, and in this case the point is long gone. Also at this point most of the stickers start to lose meaning.13 -
Had to sticker these 2 up. Lenovo was Win 10 and the HP was Ubuntu 16.04. Gave the Lenovo away cos my sis needed a new laptop asap for her work with many clients. Wherever she goes, those two stickers on the Lenovo will be spreading devRant greetings/love. Told her not to take them off. 😁3
-
I arrived back from attendance at my first developer meetup.. There was a serious argument that took place regarding the lack of stickers on one of the presenter's laptop..
Since when did stickers become an indicator of anything at all...4 -
Until now I've never thought of putting stickers on my laptop. Always preferred it to be clean, but with all those cool stickers on all your laptops... It made me wanna put as many stickers as possible and since devRant stickers looked lonely, I've decided to print some of my own. On other side I wantedthem to be useful for me so I grabbed a handful of NFC stickers and designed links and required shortcuts for my phones to run with them on touch. for example if I need a hotspot on my mobile to be activated quickly, I just put my phone against the WIFI sticker and bingo! And yes, devRant logo opens devRant app))5
-
I'm not good with faces, at all.
I literally once forgot a dudes name and remembered after he got his laptop out from his bag and i saw his stickers.
I recognize people based on their stickers now...8 -
I'm proud to announce that my work laptop has been officially devRanted!!!
Ps: Boss going to kill me, but fuck him anyway!9 -
My second shipment of stickers for my Development laptop have arrived!
Either have no stickers, or enough to represent you 😉5 -
I'm done with laptop stickers. After about a year, half of the libraries I have stickers for have updated their logos.2
-
Just received my $1 UnixStickers pack in the mail. Can't wait to put these on my laptop. Kinda sad that the Arch stickers won't really have a place on my Ubuntu laptop, but I'm sure I could find a use for them somewhere else.6
-
It's cool to put stickers of big brands and technologies on your laptop. But how about putting your own stickers on it? I think that should be the right way of using stickers while promoting your work.
Here's some of my projects that I used its logo as sticker:

Got my stickers today. They look pretty sweet on my media laptop! Thanks guys for the free stuff!!!!2
-
26 or so hours up now. And I've got a few stories to tell :) feel free to refresh your cup of coffee and take a seat.
Last few days I've been going into this odd place called intown.irl to get in touch with its inhabitants. An odd place I have to say. But in some cases quite rewarding, even got a MILF home with me and into bed at some point. Anyway...
3 days ago I think it is now? Thursday evening I took my laptop to this local bar where I had this issue about dihydrogen monoxide with one of the bartenders earlier (you'll find that rant on those keywords). Still wanted to visit it regardless though, as I met that first woman there earlier that approached me. Unfortunately I didn't see her there that day.
Some bald guy who was clearly drunk approached me. Many people were already giving curious looks at this laptop I brought to the bar. I finally tuned it up with the stickers from FOSDEM.. I'll put a picture of it in the comments. My theme was one of privacy (central), distributions and Google's open source initiative (which aligns with the keychain token I got from them as well). But of course.. that guy.. he thought that a pimped/riced laptop obviously meant that I was a hacker.
Guy went to the toilet.. went back.. and suddenly grabbed my laptop and turned it towards him. Boy was I never more smugly satisfied that those rubber pads on the bottom are quite resilient. Could've almost damaged my screen by trying to grab it like that. But it's a CCFL display.. so high voltage. If it were to become broken.. worth it. 😈
On it at the time was a terminal, pinging Google (had network issues at that bar, to the point where one of the - I think - staff members got up to me and offered the WiFi password and got to talk with me.. more on that later), and my usual Linux desktop along with the Arch anime wallpaper with the quote of Da Vinci.. simplicity is the ultimate sophistication. Of course the guy saw the terminal.. and probably reaffirmed.. yep, that's a hacker. At least he wasn't too wrong about the general term.. but the hat.. most likely he was wrong on that one.
Guy left with this question.. "you are a hacker, aren't you."
I replied to him: "No sir. I'm not a hacker. I've got no idea what you're talking about."
Guy kept looking at me weirdly for the whole night to come.
Back to that companion guy though. Mac user, yada yada.. but he told me about his backup solution. Apparently - I shit you not - he has not only the photos on his local device, he's also frequently backing them up in Time Machine (which I was really curious about whether it uses mirroring or snapshots.. he couldn't tell, lmk if you do) but not only that.. he was storing another offsite backup in that very bar, in case his house went on fire.
Now that is a proper backup scheme!!! If only more people were like that.
Seriously though.. that bald guy who took my laptop just like that... I just let it slide for that one time, but I tend to treat my machines as an extension of my very self. I think that was a very uncalled for move. Asshole...
How would you have reacted to such a thing? And.. maybe that's why we technologists don't get outside too often? Fucking everything is hacking these days if it's not Knopkes and Blinkenlights… Not every shell is a h4xx0ring console for h3kk1ng de fasbuk…9 -
That moment when you make heads turn, coz you are using laptop with loads of devRant sticker on it in metro.....
Feeling l33t..... -
I have many stickers on my laptop, need some more to complete the selection. Would love to see devRant on here! Help me reach the goal? Suggestions as to what else to add?8

My fucking awesome ass JS #SwagDuckie arrived!
Awesomeeeeeeeee!
Also, stickers arrived the other day. I ended up mounting them on Black because the Apple logo shining through annoyed me 😊
Now I need a vinyl design that looks like a duckie for the back of the laptop.
Thanks @dfox, @trogus; international shipping to the uk was remarkably fast, I was shocked.13 -
Awesome day.
Linux-Days were awesome, I got my first stickers for my laptop and I just got a letter from the company, I had an interview at, a week ago.
It say, I got the apprenticeship as a sysadmin.
This is so fucking awesome.8 -
Dev starter pack:
1) A big ass headphone to listen to music
2) A nice mechanical keyboard to write “hello world”
3) Some cool stickers to fill laptop back
4) A box of tissue to wipe of the tears(after seeing your progress)34 -
What the fuck is a sticker computer??
I'm researching DNA computers for school and there's a potential cryptosystem called a sticker model, based on a sticker computer. Searches across various engines show me results for laptop stickers.7 -
I know lots of you love stickers. But be careful according to this article.

Thanks for the swag stickers.
My laptop is waaaaay cooler now!

I've got a new laptop, it's by this new brand called DevRant, they've got some sick products, I tell ya
(I'm considering putting one of the stickers on my guitar, I don't want to polite the Piano with stickers ...)4 -
Real question tho. How do y'all actually put stickers directly on your laptop??
Like. For me that's some serious level of commitment. I always want to but I worry I'll hate it eventually and removing it would suck and scar
I can't even put stickers on the cases 😭😭 but like. Seeing a fresh new looking body when you take everything off is always soo soothing to me9 -
Saving my devrant stickers for when I buy a new laptop. The one I'm using right now is not worthy.3
-
Just got my stickers today! Finally get to start my sticker collection on the back of my laptop! I showed a few people and they said "You spent $15 on stickers? You could have spent that on gas". But I like stickers more than going places, so there was no question about it for me (plus I had like $25 in change that I cashed out last night).
So, yeah. Got my stickers and I'm happy about them4 -
I got my stickers nearly a week ago, didn't have the time to stick them and snap a picture of it, but now I've done it :)
Thank you so much @dfox for these, they're awesome ;)2 -
I keep my laptop clean, stickers are for the bag. Noticed I can email devrant for stickers since my last post got 20+
-
Got my stickers. High quality and looks so good that I don't even want to put it on my laptop. I guess I will try to sell it on the black market.
-
Spent almost $20 on stickers with my gf and I don't regret a thing.. How many references can you get?5

Got the stikers today, and realized that most of the space in my laptop is empty. How can i get some more stickers to fill the voids.7

Worst part about getting a new laptop: losing all my stickers
Best part of getting a new laptop: New Stickers!1 -
Got my new laptop today!
Traded my old laptop..
The devRant stickers were too difficult to remove, so I had to part with them. :(2 -
Anyone else like stickers for their laptop, but not the stereotypical "there's no place like 127.0.0.1" stickers?
Like I've got one for a local charity that supports teaching underprivileged kids that want to learn how to surf, a cooler brand one, one for my school, a clothing brand I like, ect?
Idk I just don't like the typical computer nerd stickers 🤷🤷6 -
All I wanted was stickers for my laptop, cuz it's quite costly in India ($2 for a single JS), and that led me to this place.
But now I'm kinda liking it.
I'm so proud of this community.13 -

@dfox and @trogus I have to say I'm very impressed with the quality of the stickers I got back in October. They have been enduring near daily use from taking my laptop in and out of my backpack to dealing with my sweaty palms on the keyboard deck. No discoloration at all.
Appreciate you guys and this platform you are cultivating! Thanks again.11 -
@localhost My setup! The laptop is on private WiFi that is unmonitored. There's a desktop tower behind the monitors that is wired into the unmonitored network as a server running Linux. it's decent but could be better. and I need more stickers1
-
For weeks I told my friends about devRant and how cool it is but they were like "meh! 9gag is better" or "I prefer Facebook".
Today I showed them my laptop with the new devRant stickers and suddenly everyone is downloading devRant.
Now I am thinking why did I waste my time.1 -
Thinking of making my own laptop stickers:
- Buy letter size sticker paper
- Print multiple logos/icons on sticker paper
- if needed, laminate the front side of the sticker paper with a thermal laminator (wife has one)
- Cut the stickers out
- ???
- Profit
I will report back with the results and pictures later. I assume they will end up a bit thick if I laminate them.7 -
You know you're passionate about computers when your completely immune to scams and phishing attacks but the mention of laptop stickers makes you type a rant about it. ~( ̄▽ ̄)~
-
To be honest, I prefer clean laptops, without any stickers on it, but I love dbrand skins, in some ways, they are stickers, awesome full-laptop-body stickers that are great. Used to have marble and concrete on my XPS, now it's just clean.5
-
Thank you devrant for the awesome stickers i put one on my laptop and one on my on my desktop the last one i may put on my car.
-
did not expect the stickers would actually arrive! you sent it all the way half of the earth. the stickers earn a deservedly special space on my laptop and phone. Kudos to you devRant!2
-
Thanks for the stickers guys! The rectangular one will be going on the back of my car and the others on my laptop!2
-
I've noticed looking at the card exit of a building that most people a) just carry their laptop without putting it in the backpack because the carpark is a jump away anyway, b) that stickers on said laptops can leak your infrastructure
No idea what made me interested in that, but if you take the average of people's laptop stickers (sadly not everybody had their laptop or maybe even a laptop at all, so I've got just 20) - you could probably tell what tools and what services the company is running.
Could be a funny coincidence and I was able to verify later by googling their company, but it's an interesting non trackable way to know what services and tools need to be exploited/emulated to possibly gain access to some high security network.
I feel like somebody had to have a talk/presentation about this, so I wonder, had anybody else seen something like that? or how far could this actually go?5 -

People who put stickers on laptops... Are they badges of honour or aspirational?
So, if you code in VB6, but want to write Reason code, do you have VB6 stickers, showing you have lived through it, or Reason stickers, hoping that recruiters read your laptop stickers.
Or, is it just some undirected mess when you are handed a sticker and you put it on---like a reflex action?8 -
And finally I got the lovely stickers
Thanks devRant!
Any suggestions about where to stick them on the laptop ? Can you please share your laptop pic 😃😃☺2 -
You have your favourite dev stickers on your first laptop and now you get another laptop, fucking can't reuse it!! Gonna miss it !
Any website to get stickers in India?3 -
I'm thinking of buying a new laptop. But I'm sad about leaving all of these stickers (yeah I know they're pretty random)
also, should I get a macbook or not? I really like the OS but I hate it's pricetag. But i heard Apple supports their products for more than 5 years and this laptop of mine is just 3 and a half years old and it's slowing down already even on 16gb memory. IntelliJ used to run smoothly on this.
Can u guys suggest a developer friendly laptop? im not really into gaming so I wouldn't need gaming one 👨💻8 -
Never understood plastering a laptop in stickers. I do have one devRant one though because without the icon, I think it looks slick.3
-
Some people need stickers for their laptop ... but what I actually need is a laptop for all my stickers ...2
-
If you only have 30 laptop stickers and 20 funko pop dolls, are you even a real fullstack ninja/rockstar?13
-
Where to get other IT-related stickers so that the devrant logo isn't all alone on my laptop cover?2
-
I just bought a ukulele, and I have the urge to put stickers on it like it's a laptop. Hackathons have ruined me.1
-
And so I joined the club of receiving them fine looking stickers and shall proudly put them on me laptop! Thank you @dfox !5
-
whenever I suspend my laptop my openvpn would get stuck on reconnecting and I'd have to ctrl c and wait for like minutes so it would correctly close. so I only used VPN when I really needed it.
but then I found out: mullvad (my VPN host supports wireguard! and so wireguard is a more passive protocol, and doesn't need to keep open the connection. so now I can just set my VPN to "always on" and not worry about it anymore, yay!
ps: you should have seen my face when I found out mullvad gives away free stickers! :D -
Thanks Dave and Tim for the stickers! I appreciate the extra set too since I'm getting a new laptop sometime this year.1
-
I see people posting their stickers here, so here is mine. I think it totally represents me. What do you guys think?6
-
They will be the first stickers on my laptop. Thanks devRant for hours of fun in this great community!
-
My stickers arrived.
Within less than a month all the way to Germany.
Finally something for my laptop and my first US letter.
Thanks guys :)1 -
!ranting
Is there any app other than devrant that gives you free stickers?
My owner and I want to have some. I like to have tattoos all over my body.
-w/ <3, Laptop9 -
I usually never put stickers on my laptop, as they usually fade away and leave nasty residue after a while, therefore I fucking hate having discovered stickermule, I have right now ~100$ worth of stickers favorited, I really have to hold back to not just pull the trigger on them and finally smash my laptop full of them, including my devrant stickers, that have been laying here for a long time now. 😫1
-
!rant
My laptop now includes a DevRant sticker!
If you also have stickers on your laptop I would love to see them. Share photos of your laptops in the comments! :-)8 -
Thanks @dfox and @trogus for the stickers! Letter got a little wet, but swag is in good shape. I'll definitely use them when I'll buy a new laptop 😀
-
Guy: Hey you know computers right
Me: sure
This guy takes his computer apart during class and wants me to see what it wrong with it. I'm like dude what the heck the Professor is teaching! Freaking crazy. -
Okay, guys, please help me. My stickers arrived but the laptop I'm currently working on is shitty. So I'm afraid of putting them on the laptop, because maybe I won't work with it anymore in a year or so. Where should I put them??? :/6
-
Found a use for my stickers (not allowed to use on my work laptop)!
Can now tell the difference between mine and my partners when we play Pokémon GO. 🙃 -
Well, everytime i say hie to a random girl, i swear they look at my shoes first, so i have resolved to stick my upcoming devRant stickers onto my shoes instead of my laptop9
-
Collect more SWAGS
Collect more laptop stickers
Collect more free t-shirts
Collect more free goodies -
Not sure if someone posted this already, but on https://stickermule.com/unixsticker... there's currently a deal for 10 laptop stickers for one dollar.2
-
1. Attend some conference
2. Get Stickers and goodies
3. Now you remember you have stickers all over your laptop
4. Give it away to your friends
5. Behave like Buddha1 -
I recently purchased a new laptop, so I needed some stickers for it.
Luckily I was still able to request some free devrant stickers. (:
My devRant swag and some other stickers I ordered all arrived in the past week.
Pic related7 -
No matter who you are and if i know you, seeing you having nerd stickers on your laptop, especially Linux ones, makes you my buddy.
-
I put my DevRant sticker on my phone's flip cover instead of on my laptop or cat.
Also thanks DevRant for the stickers!3 -
Just got stickers. Thank you team!
But where should I paste them on my laptop, it's the question!!5 -
SO . . . my laptop just decided to no longer be a computer. And while I love boxes that have stickers on them and offer nothing else in terms of functionality, I should probably be able to code. And watch cat videos on YouTube. So . . . anyone ever bought a refurbished computer on Groupon?6
-
So many 'my Precious' devrant stickers, but nowhere to put them.
Waiting for new laptop in three months, trade out phone every year so don't want to waist them there.
Friend: you can give one to me.
HISSSSSSSSSS!
Friend: woah, dude?
Yeah, they do look sad just sitting in the envelope they came in. Here you go.
Friend: Thanks. I don't know, still looks sad on my laptop.
Well, that's cause your laptop's shit init.1 -
Hello world (my first "rant"). What do you think about laptop stickers? My Macbook is still clean after three years. Now thinking about filling it up. Why, why not?7
-
I still can't understand why people put 2 stickers of the same thing/product (devRant) on a single item (laptop, etc.).3
-

How do you get your stickers?
Conventions?
Do you just buy them?
Also which sticker is your favorite (that you own)?
Is there a sticker you want, but can't seem to find?6 -
Hello ranters, I have to send my beloved laptop to acer support to get somethings fixed and I'm worried for my stickers. I don't want to get them damaged or lost (maybe they need to change the screen back plate or maybe they send me a new laptop all together). Is there a way to peel the off and reapply them with new glue?5
-
Lunchtime mail delivery brought me some decorative goodies! devRant looks right at home on my XPS 13 with the EFF, Tux, and company! Thanks for the stickers and this wonderfully witty community.3
-
Talking about stickers.. I have only "We are developers" on my laptop, the other two I put somewhere else.
-
Life goal?
Just want to go beyond the point where I no more have to stick github stickers on my laptop to let others know I'm a nerd. -
The hardest part about having stickers on my laptop ,is when it stops working and I have to get a new one from IT. So much for sticker collecting.1
-
Hi guys I finally choose one sticker, I take him cause he looks creative. :D hope you enjoy i will contact other society to get stickers now.4
-
That moment when you realize your laptop is two years old already and all the stickers you have on its lid cannot be moved to a new laptop you will buy one day. 😢😔3
-
I reminded myself I got supporter stickers and stripe from fsfe.
I placed one on my laptop and spotted that those stickers are reflecting mirrors.
Spent next hour trying to make recursive reflection photo.
It’s damn hard to place it correctly on such small area using hands only
3am and I am thinking of building a stand. -
I finally got assigned to a project, working like a dog but it is for operators safety so it feels good. Also, I have been tasked with writing custom C++ plugins for our process simulators and damn it feels so good to match both my biggest interests. I hope to not get carried away by it in my evenings since I was learning some webdev in my freetime.
Also got UNIXstickers in the mail like 99% of the people here.
Oh, I also received my Seiko SKX and damn I already love it. -
Finally got my Hacktoberfest care package!! Thought it'd never arrive...
Anyone know a good way to get more stickers? Or personal preference as to where to buy them?3 -
Finally got my stickers! Thanks devRant! Ready to start filling my laptop up with things only developers understand!7
-
Ya know I thought I could live with my school's Nazi regime of internet censorship but now I am pissed as I have found they block devrants swag Site swag.devrant.com now I will never get devrant laptop stickers 😭 I think it is time to revolt5
-
What is for you the best web to buy developer merchandise (laptop stickers, t-shirts ...)? you know 😉2
-
Don’t have any Laptop Stickers but do have stickers on my Roller Derby Helmet, and my fav has to be:
“It’s not a bug it’s a feature!”1 -
I definitely need some stickers to hide scratches on my laptop! who else has a used and abused laptop?2
-
Just ordered a bunch of stickers for my laptop! (yay!)
I would love to see some of the devranters beautiful sticker creations!
🐧Link your pictures! 🐧
(not a pic of what i bought)7 -
Just got a new work laptop which is absolutely awesome. Only bad thing is that i can't transfer the sticker swag :/4
-
That moment when your laptop is empty and ugly and your trying to get stickers. Well... here im am asking for likes to get those awesome devrant stickers! 😃1
-
I don't usually put stickers on laptop bit these two are awesome ;)
But I don't know what to do with these other two..8 -
My favourite laptop sticker has to be GatsbyJS's Watson floating around - Other favourites are my Nasa sticker and the stickermule donkey pixel art 😁
I am not going to lie and say my laptop hardshell looks great with the stickers as I stuck them on as I went along so it's all over the place 🤷♂️ -
Today I removed all the stickers I had on my laptop, and it looks pretty clean and better now.
I still remember the day when I would do anything to collect schwag and free stickers. In fact - I joined devRant just to get those free stickers XD.
but yesterday I had to do a presentation in my college and during the presentation, I realized how stupid it is to have a laptop filled with laptop stickers.
What I used to chase in the past, is what I am getting rid of in present. And it is true with many other things as well. We crave things and once we get them it hardly matters to us.
I sometimes wonder what life is really about, and is there anything that we can cherish forever and not take for granted?13 -
I'd love to get stickers, but first I need laptop instead of PC :D any ideas for good cheap laptop for web dev? :)8
-
To the left, stickers I'm not proud of.
To the right, the one I'm actually proud of.
Would I put any of them to my laptop? No. Dev to gave me a moderator status, but took a favor back by shadowbanning one of my articles. I'm still a mod, but I quit two years ago.
Since then, I posted to my website exclusively. The latest article came out two years ago, but somehow my blog still generates consistent traffic. I have no idea who reads it. -
!= rant
All devs Rise and show your creative prowess!
Its a fun hackington where i have been before a few times, run only by volunteers.
I tink some people on devrant here also would be interested in this event.
i am also going and hope te see more devranters there! ID't by there laptop stickers!1 -
Depends on which desk we're talking about...
Office desk: an empty can, a tophat well as a demo and some Russian paracetamol I found from a pocket of my winter coat.
Home Office #1 desk: the keyboard for another computer, a plant, a bunch of magazines and newspapers belonging to someone else, a roll of kitchen paper, someone else's meds, a cup of cookies, another cup of small tomatoes, a Swiss army knife, a bike computer and a tablet.
Home Office #2 desk: wife's laptop, a bunch of chargers for a myriad of devices, a Kindle, some envelopes full of stickers, others with bills, a lot of random crap, and usually when I'm at the desk, one or two purring felines -
Should I buy more ThinkPads or poster board for stickers? I plan on buying 100s of stickers to put around my laptop and house.5
-
Never had stickers until I got my first sticker set from devRant, till I had laptop skin :)
So of course devRant stickers are my favorite stickers and that cubicle sticker is my most favorite.2 -
How I got my first Free Swag?
I stole it?
Obviously no,
So it dates back to year 2016. After learning about open source project and working with few organisations, I noticed few contributors and developers with t shirts having logo of the company or organisation.
I mean if you see a guy wearing google tagged t shirt don't think he works in Google, he might have purchased it.
Next, I started searching for ways to obtain one. I reached and texted developers and all they told me were two golden rules.
1. If you develop something or update something, showcast it.
2. Always show the organisation what you do for them, even if it small contribution.
After this I started mailing and texting the contact mail id of companies and organisation I worked and contributed. Some texted me- no we don't have free items, some said we can't ship to India.
But out of 100 replies with 85 negatives, I recieved 15 positive replies. I was amazed to know that I'll recieve one.
You know what I was showered with
Stickers
T shirts
Laptop skins
Keychains
And many more.....
This Rant is for you to motivate and showcast what you do.2 -
Thanks @dfox and @trogus for the awesome stickers! Ones going right on my work laptop, and I'll just show it whenever anyone gives me reason to rant 😂
-
So looks like I got a job in a tech company. I won't be coding much but I guess I'd be debugging the errors and reporting them to devs.
I think I'll like this job:
1) Pay is better than I expected considering my long gap in the industry as an employee. Honestly, I don't care about the pay.
2) I like the challenge in debugging things.
3) I don't like coding under pressure and deadlines. Besides, I want to reserve my desire for coding on my side projects - mostly solutions to issues I face. If I go for a developer job, the last thing I would wanna do is
code again after the work. I'd probably go insane with such a life.
4) Recently I realised that I'm not that much of a coding geek as people around me make it seem. I had attended a hackthon and almost every single dev out there had their laptop covered in stickers. They also had grasp on diverse stacks meanwhile I'm quite picky on stacks I even care to read about.
5) I'd have to be a bit more outgoing and interactive with people than my usual self. So yeah, I'll be pushing my comfort zone.
6) Most importantly, this job aligns with the dream job with great pay and freedom that I'm eyeing for. -
I love stickers but I also love my laptop lid clean. Back when I was a MacBook user, I did buy a case/cover in order to place the stickers and remove them whenever I want. Do you know anything similar for regular notebooks such as a Dell Inspiron?3
-
Don’t really put stickers on my laptop, however the rectangular DevRant one has done a great job marking my primary external USB drive since I got it...
-
So one of my rants got ++ more than 30, I was wondering like how long does it take to get those laptop stickers ? Bcz I have seen rants saying either they haven't received it or got after a year or so..
I would love to hear your thoughts about it .. -
Anyone know where I can get cool but not too expensive stickers from? Want to decorate my laptop and stuff 😁2
-
So funny thing, I had my stickers arrive, and they were on my desk in the ripped open envelope with the paper next to it. Me madre thought the ripped envelope was garbage and threw them away. And now my new laptop is very barren. Am I able to request new stickers? Pretty please5
-
Is it only me who sent an email & awaiting stickers!! @devRant, if my stickers are not ready can you send me a better smiley? I don't want to look at this sad smiley on ma laptop ;)
-
how many dev stickers are on your laptop/desktop? anyone actually stick dev sticker on desktop??
will attach one of mine soon after it...
#devRantSticker <<<< i want it xD2 -
I did not receive my stickers yet. More than 2 months passed. Tensed. I really want to put them on my Laptop.
-
I have a pair of stickers from theHundreds since 3 years ago and I'm still waiting to get a laptop someday to use them... The struggle.
-
Apparently i need to to "import" the devrant swag. Just today a post arrived in the mail which says i need to fill up a kyc form and need an importer exporter code for a shipment that is stuck in customs. Wtf man!. I tracked the package and it is from usa. The only thing that could arrive from usa is devrant swag. And now i need to go through filling so many forms so that i can slap some stickers on my laptop. My life is not easy.3
-
Does anyone here have a stack of stickers waiting for when their laptop is old enough it looks better plastered with stickers
-
You know a good place to get stickers for my laptop?
Stickers like ubuntu, kubuntu, PHP, CSS, python and so on4 -
For all sticker lovers... where do you purchase all your dev related swag stickers for your laptop? Every place I ordered from had janky stickers with strange borders or bad quality.1
-
Did someone tried to glue iron beads on their laptop instead of stickers? Playing with the idea right now and don't know how to put them on without damaging the back of the laptop.2
