Anyone have any info about unconventional ways to inject JavaScript into an external website? I'm trying to become more knowledgeable about security vulnerabilities in the web apps I build and I've been having a lot of fun trying this stuff out in other live sites haha. I've tried adding js code to text boxes, input fields, and the uri but nothing has been successful. I read something about modifying cookies I think...6

Shame on every developer who ever wrote a blog post about a complex topic that included only trivial examples!7

It's amazing how many nice build tools there are to make life easier as a web developer. Learning those tools themselves and figuring out why / when they are useful is always pretty confusing haha, endless configuration details. Perhaps more so for myself because I only stared Programming in 2014. But now that I have learned how to use them more extensively I couldn't imagine how much of a pain it would be to not have them.1

Can I just rant for one second. Being an entry level developer sucks. I would work for free right now just to have some structure and gain experience!6

The massive DDoS attack that took down the internet this morning, hit NPM too and I just cleared out my node modules without realizing it. :'(

I am really not excited to start interviewing again :( I have two weeks until my current contract ends and I am feeling pretty pessimistic about the whole thing. I can't imagine actually doing well enough to get a full time offer.3

What kind of side projects would you like to see from someone interviewing for a JavaScript (front end or backend) related role? If they started with tutorials but did something different is this okay? I also want to start something small, so I can stick with it, but I don't want it to be too small or lack complexity. Thoughts?6

My manager was going to talk to me about my future in the company today. He forgot and worked from home :(3

Pretty sure my team isn't following best practices in terms of managing state with redux and react... We are already having to rewrite most of the project because they were mutating the state EVERYWHERE. Glad they got the css looking decent so they could hide behind that for a couple of months.7

What's the best way to interview when you can't leave work? Like yeah I could swing one or two maybe by calling in sick... I can't work from home... I know other people get offers while working still, what did you do? If you have been through this I would appreciate any advice!1

Post BA Phil degree pre CS degree
My parents - oh cool
My extended family - 'I thought you were going to go to law school, wow how many times are you going to change your mind?' 'who is going to pay for another degree, oh yeah your parents, kids these days' 'so what are you going to do with that Philosophy degree?' 'What are you going to do when mommy stops supporting you?'
Post CS Degree, employed doing what I love, paying off my loans
My parents - yay
My extended family - sweet f*cking silence, and the occasional 'oh so you are working on computers now?'

In accordance with the ancient traditions of our people, we must first build an app that does nothing except say "Hello world". - react native docs1

React native is such a pain to get started with! I feel like Ive wasted way too much time just trying to set up a functioning example. I'm too stubborn to give in. I'm about to rage code right now lol6

This is pre-dev but whatev. I got my cs degree from OSU. After I graduated I realized that I had to fill out a form (by hand) and a mail a 25$ check to them in order for them to send me my diploma. Naturally I never got around to ordering it. Then about 2 months post grad I get this package from OSU which I open up to find this freakin metal engraved business card holder and a letter congratulating me on my degree. A) business card holder??? B) why couldn't they just mail me my diploma instead -.-
I still haven't ordered my diploma yet2 -
One of the devs on my team hates our PM. last week during standup while the pm was giving his update, he started clipping his nails and proceeded to do so until the guy finished. I almost died trying not to laugh. No one said anything.2

So I'm a entry level female Developer and I started a contract to hire position in July. Its my first job as a developer and I love almost everything about it. Except this..., there is a Senior Female Developer on my team who hates me and isn't shy about it. She goes for the throat man! She magnifies any mistake I make, hell she calls me out on things that people would consider positive. In sprint planning this week she got mad at me for pulling tasks from the backlog after finishing mine early. I've tried to do everything I could to make her like me. I patiently listen when she goes on and on about her damn cats, kids, sports, ah everything, and she is a non stop talker.
Her main problem with me, so she tells the head of engineering, is that I bug her too much. I almost laughed when I heard this was her main issue with me! Sure, I asked her the normal amount of newbie questions but it's not like I don't know how to read code or google! In fact I started avoiding talking to her about a month ago because she was so rude to me. Now getting hired on full time comes down to whether or not she can stand me still if I am working on another team. I'm so frustrated because it's impossible to prove my worth to this company with this crazy lady making me look bad. I have no problems with anyone else at work. In fact a lot of us have become good friends. No one understands why she hates me so much. It feels like middle school all over again.
On top of that there is an even newer hire who she is supposed to help bring on to the team, but because of her horrible management skills, I have become his defecto mentor for learning the project, as well as the technologies we use. The stress of being in an uncertain contract to hire position + tyrant coworker + helping the new guy + still learning and having my own work to do has been overwhelming! I don't know what to do other than hope that she doesn't try to sabotage me moving to a new team.29
