My neural networks journey so far:
Look up tutorials -> see that Python is a popular tool for ML -> install Python -> pip install scipy -> breaks with some weird error involving BLAS library code -> spend half an hour fixing it -> try installing Theano -> breaks because my USERNAME HAS A SPACE IN IT LIKE SERIOUSLY? WTF -> make new account without a space in the name -> repeat till Theano -> run tests, found out that I didn't install CUDA support -> scrap the install and redo with CUDA support -> CUDA libraries take forever to download on shitty internet -> run tests -> breaks with some weird Theano compiler error -> go crying to friend -> friend tells me about Anaconda -> scrap the previous install and download Anaconda over shitty connection -> mess up conda environments because noobishness -> scrap, retry -> YESS I FINALLY GOT IT WORKING TIME TO DO SOME LEARNI-crap it's 4 in the morning already.
I realize that I'm a Python noob (and also, uni computers with GPUs have preconfigured Windows installed only, no Linux), but is installing Python libraries always such a pain? Am I doing something wrong? Installing via Anaconda felt like cheating, tbh.6
Wanted to learn something about API in Python, so I made a little program during a boring lecture. Want to learn qt for a GUI, maybe i can combine those two things. :)2
6h attempting to correctly install
pytorch from source
Why python can't into proper dependency management?
I Node.js we use npm. Modules are downloaded per project and packaging is easy.
In Java we use maven/gradle. Never been so easy to build and download libraries and package your project.
But in Python? No, it's not easy. You have to use virtualenv first so pip/anaconda won't download globally, then you must write setyp.py in a million different ways. Packaging and distribution to clients? Good luck with that.21
Sorry Google, you got it wrong this time ....
Oh my gosh, look at that function definition ...
Oh my gosh, look at that variable ...
Oh my gosh, look at that zone ...
Oh my gosh, look at that long ...
Oh my gosh, look at that short ...
Oh my gosh, look at that stop ... is more my style.10
Whenever I search Anaconda, Nicki Minaj's explicit video songs pops in the 3rd result... I don't know why I feel weird about it... Feel like I have to explain myself to myself...?!?2
My friend complain to me Python tutorial on YouTube doesn't work. He can't import any packages. I looked at it and found that he installed package into one Python version while his IDE is using another version installed in his machine.
And then I even find third one in another location...2
Anaconda. Quite fitting a name to something that fucks up python environments so thoroughly. Ironic too, given that it was meant to simplify. Anaconda doesn't give a shit about the python that came with the distro. And all packages installed with pip are only visible to anacondas python. Not a single note of caution during installation. Or a best practices guide for the newbie. Just chaos. Utter chaos. The price of being a noob had been paid.5
If there is any god, please help me install anaconda/miniconda on this windows 10 laptop.
Its been 3days now.
Its soo annoying when u have Anaconda installed with all the shit packages and when u IDLE run the python and import packages it gives errors and when u try to pip install them it says request all ready satisfied in anaconda!!!!😭

I having some problems in tensorflow-gpu in anaconda if anyonre can help me xD contact me7
I just uninstalled Anaconda Python because it takes up about 8GB... and I don't remember the last time I used it...
That being said I did sort of use Python last week at work... though even that's rare, just that I had a project used to analyze logs I wrote over a year ago... that needed to be used.12
While using Spyder the python kernel died(not that rare), so I restarted the kernel and... It kept dying over and over and over again.
So I restart the IDE... can't even connect to the kernel anymore.
#Fast forward an hour
Comodo internet security was blocking stuff.
Ffs, I had given up and I was ready to reinstall the whole damn environment if not Anaconda.
I still love Comodo.1
2 hours after resolving compatibility issues:
The following specifications were found to be in conflict:
- opencv==3.2.0 -> *[track_features=blas_openblas]
- opencv==3.2.0 -> harfbuzz=1.3 -> freetype[version='2.7|2.7.*'] -> libpng[version='>=1.6.22,<1.6.31']
Well done for today. I'm going for a beer. Ah..almost forgot. Fuck you Anaconda and fuck you Python docs.1
