DevOps is like working in sanitation. If everything works as it should, no one cares about you. But if there is a problem, everyone is up to their eyeballs in shit, and it is your fault.
Same as IT btw.3 -
Today I fixed a minor bug that only occurred with Java 8 (10 was fine) by replacing part of a jar that was from January 2000 with a newer version from 2006.

I once optimized a web page that performed 621 SQL queries and loaded in 21 seconds in a production app.8

Ansible... Why do one simple task manually, when you can do many smaller more complex ones automatically?

Do not ever develop a project for family or friends.
It's the fucking worst decision you will make.
Damn i wish I knew this shit earlier.
They make you become an asshole.8 -

Today is one of many days fellas! Today my coworkers and I will fight again for more salary! Our company is making millions and billions of euros and we won't be gifted for our work!
I hope in your countries you have the same rights to fight for your money. If so, do it!
Sorry for no Dev realated post's!
TL;DR I have me no money40 -
I will smash your fucking nerf gun over your head. Why is 30-40 yr old men acting like my kids even a thing. No other industry treats talent like infants. Nor does any other industry seem to have so many adult children present. </rant>9

I once brought my Kali Linux laptop to school. (Because normal had dead battery, waiting for shipping)
MFW someone from the IT department is called in to fix teachers projector and he sees I still have the default dragon wallpaper on it.
MFW when recognises it it's Kali.
MFW he calls the police and my laptop gets taken away because 'its dangerous' and I get questioned in school.
The police came back a week later to check my laptop again. 'uhh we gotta check the logs'.
IF I WANTED IT TO BE DANGEROUS YOU'D BE FIXING A LOT MORE THAN JUST THE FUCKING PROJECTOR!
Also, wuddup devrant!11 -
We have a new lady in HR and boy is she noisy. She just can't seem to keep her mouth shut for even 2 seconds. She has opionions for everything, even dev related conversations.3

So on top of my Windows update frustrations, I just found out that Microsoft has been scamming me out of money for two years!
I bought an android tablet in 2016 which came with a free 1 year subscription to Office365. They demanded credit card info, so I made sure to pre-cancel it to avoid getting charged when the year was up.
Today I find a line on my bank statement that just says 'MICROSOFT', and I think to myself: 'What the hell is that?!?'
It takes some digging for the email adress I used and trying to navigate various MS sites until I realize that those bastards have auto-renewed the subscription twice now!
I missed it last year, but luckily since I caught the latest one within 30 days I can get a full refund.
Will contact their support tomorrow to get the rest of it back. Too tired right now to deal with their support jungle of circular links and virtual assistants...2 -
1024 points of soldering !!
Wasn't expecting that when I began, but it's quite interesting and the result will look amazing ^^
I'm making a LED matrix from 0, controlled by an Arduino, it will look really good when it's finished, I plan to use it to display notifications, clock, sound spectrum etc...
What do you think of it ? 😇15 -
when a product manager decides to have a product review meeting from 4:30PM to 6:00PM when everyone plans to leave early.1

Some days you write your code and it all goes well.
All your tests pass, you write clean code, you solve your problems nicely.
Other days everything that can go wrong, will go wrong.
...the latter was the case for me today.4
