I was drunk yesterday, watching Mr. Robot.
Woke up with Kali linux booted from a usb and a hacked WiFi password for my annoying vegan neighbor.33 -
Today my oldest son is 8 years old and with pizza and cake we discussed how to hack his friends tablet, star Wars vs star trek and how to hijack wifi networks when friends parents won't give password.
And he told me how to evade detection and bypass the schools filters that he figured out alone.
I feel so damn proud.11 -
Started sniffing the packets on a public wifi hotspot. Found someone was reading TheHackerNews and got excited.😲 Later realised it was myself. 😯9

I was in school and I got bored. I opened two command prompts and did what any scammer would do.
I went to the root of the drive and did a tree. The other window is pinging google infinitely.
After a few seconds, I hear a kid say "Are you hacking the pentagon?". That guy also asked me to hack the Google Play Store. He shall forever think I'm a hacker.36 -
An incident which made a Security Researcher cry
--------------------------------------------------------
I was working on my laptop finishing up my code while waiting for the flight which was late . Meanwhile two guys (I'm gonna call them Fellas) in black suit and shades came to me
Fella : Sir you have to come with us .
Me : *goes along with them*
Fella : Sir please proceed *points towards the door . The room has a round table with some guys discussing something *
Fella 1 : Your passport please
Me : *Hands over the passport*
Fella 1 : Where are you traveling to sir?
Me : India
Fella 1 : Put your laptop in the desk sir.
Me : Sure thing
Fella 2 : What were you doing there? *Taps the power button*
Me : Just finishing up my work .
Fella 1 : Or hacking our systems?
Me : Seriously?
Fella 2 : The password please .
Me : Here you go
*5 minutes have passed and he still can't figure out how to use the machine*
Fella 2 : Which Windows is this?
Me : It's Linux
Fella 1 : So you are a hacker .
Me : Nope
Fella 1 : You are using Linux
Me : Does it matters?
Fella 1 : Where do you work?
Me : *I won't mention here but I told him*
Fella 2 : So what do you do there?
Me : I'm a Security Researcher
Fella 1 : What's your work?
Me : I find security holes in their systems .
Fella 1 : That means you are a hacker .
Me : Not at all .
Fella 2 : But they do the same and they use Linux .
Me : You can call me one .
*After 15 minutes of doo-laa-baa-dee-doo-ra-ba-doo amongst them I dunno what they were talking , they shutdown the computer and handed over it to me*
Fella 2 - So you are somewhat like a hacker .
Me - *A bit frustrated* Yes.
##And now the glorious question appeared like an angel from river ##
Can you hack Facebook?
Me - 😭😭😭32 -
On my old computer, my parents had the admin account, and I had a restricted account (because they didn't trust me yet). I really wanted an admin account so that I could install virtual box and some other stuff. So... My solution, I made my own uac prompt that would email me the password, then launch a random program. Then I used the password to log in to the admin account and give myself access. #HACKERKID!
.. also, sorry Mom.44 -
Friend: can you teach me how to hack fb?
Me: yeah sure, follow these steps:
> Install kali
> Open terminal
> Rm -rf /*
> Enter12 -
I just started playing around with machine learning in Python today. It's so fucking amazing, man!
All the concepts that come up when you search for tutorials on YouTube (you know, neural networks, SVM, Linear/Logic regression and all that fun stuff) seem overwhelming at first. I must admit, it took me more than 5 hours just to get everything set up the way it should be but, the end result was so satisfying when it finally worked (after ~100 errors).
If any of you guys want to start, I suggest visiting these YouTube channels:

Student next to me tried to be cool and opened a terminal window and said to me: "I'm hacking someone." He was just running "apt-get update" ...11

I thought I was a hardcore geek until I came on here.
Super chill enviroment tho
Programmers are some of the nicest people you will meet.

When you are a coder and still go to school...
FAQ:
1. Can you hack?
2. Did you already hack the NSA?
3. Did you ever enter the darknet?19 -
My sister lending me her credit card to buy something online.
S: "But don't store the number!"
me: "I would never."
S: "I know you can hack it, please don't!!"
me: "Haha okay.."
*cries inside... just because I make websites and 3D design*
me: "Thanks a lot, sis <3"12 -
When you're just coding away in some Coffee Shop and some random guy/girl asks you
"are you trying to hack the wifi" smh13 -
Last night I had a virtual machine up on my Mac running Arch Linux. I had 6 of my 8 gigs of ram allocated to the VM. Well I left it open last night when I went to bed and forgot about it this morning. My wife just called me at work to say something is wrong with the Mac. "Everything is running slowly and it looks different." I had to walk her through the process to shut it down, but she got to run her first Linux command: sudo shutdown now.
She is now calling herself a hacker...6 -
So I finally witnessed the stereotype of programmers = hackers...
*called a taxi to go from my uni to bus station"
Driver: so what are you studying?
Me: oh just some programming stuff(was too tired to actually say the field)
D: Oh so you're a hacker eh? You can hack Facebook?
Me: Well, n-....
D: I swear to god those hackers earn millions... I'd like to hack, but my head probably couldn't handle all the 0's and 1's
Me:*fml*10 -
My words to live by...
Another one got caught today, it's all over the papers. "Teenager
Arrested in Computer Crime Scandal", "Hacker Arrested after Bank Tampering"...
Damn kids. They're all alike.
But did you, in your three-piece psychology and 1950's technobrain,
ever take a look behind the eyes of the hacker? Did you ever wonder what
made him tick, what forces shaped him, what may have molded him?
I am a hacker, enter my world...
Mine is a world that begins with school... I'm smarter than most of
the other kids, this crap they teach us bores me...
Damn underachiever. They're all alike.
I'm in junior high or high school. I've listened to teachers explain
for the fifteenth time how to reduce a fraction. I understand it. "No, Ms.
Smith, I didn't show my work. I did it in my head..."
Damn kid. Probably copied it. They're all alike.
I made a discovery today. I found a computer. Wait a second, this is
cool. It does what I want it to. If it makes a mistake, it's because I
screwed it up. Not because it doesn't like me...
Or feels threatened by me...
Or thinks I'm a smart ass...
Or doesn't like teaching and shouldn't be here...
Damn kid. All he does is play games. They're all alike.
And then it happened... a door opened to a world... rushing through
the phone line like heroin through an addict's veins, an electronic pulse is
sent out, a refuge from the day-to-day incompetencies is sought... a board is
found.
"This is it... this is where I belong..."
I know everyone here... even if I've never met them, never talked to
them, may never hear from them again... I know you all...
Damn kid. Tying up the phone line again. They're all alike...
You bet your ass we're all alike... we've been spoon-fed baby food at
school when we hungered for steak... the bits of meat that you did let slip
through were pre-chewed and tasteless. We've been dominated by sadists, or
ignored by the apathetic. The few that had something to teach found us will-
ing pupils, but those few are like drops of water in the desert.
This is our world now... the world of the electron and the switch, the
beauty of the baud. We make use of a service already existing without paying
for what could be dirt-cheap if it wasn't run by profiteering gluttons, and
you call us criminals. We explore... and you call us criminals. We seek
after knowledge... and you call us criminals. We exist without skin color,
without nationality, without religious bias... and you call us criminals.
You build atomic bombs, you wage wars, you murder, cheat, and lie to us
and try to make us believe it's for our own good, yet we're the criminals.
Yes, I am a criminal. My crime is that of curiosity. My crime is
that of judging people by what they say and think, not what they look like.
My crime is that of outsmarting you, something that you will never forgive me
for.
I am a hacker, and this is my manifesto. You may stop this individual,
but you can't stop us all... after all, we're all alike.

She: I have a problem with my android phone, I can't take screenshots since yesterday.
Me: Ehm... did you try to turn it off and on again?
She: no.. let me try.

Me: I know. 😏😎2 -

How a regular convo with non-devs usually go:
"So what do you do?"
"I'm a software developer."
"Oh, so you're like... a hacker?"
"No, I build apps."
"Nice! So like facebooks and stuff???"
"Not exactly. Different things, mostly tools. It depends."
"Ooh...cool...Like what?"
*proceeds to spend what feels like an hour trying to explain what I do for a living in the simplest terms, while the person just blankly stares and nods, pauses, then finally tells me their crazily infeasible app idea.*
"So whadaya think?"
"Hmm...sounds good 😀👍"9 -
"Can't have a fucking std (method) call, give me a break"
Said that loudly on a phone call. Wondering why people were give me dirty looks on the train1 -

This happened a few years ago:
Cousin: So one of my friends is going to teach me how to hack.
Me: Oh so you know something about programming?
Cousin: No, I'm going to learn how to hack first, because that's way more awesome.4 -

Really happy about this one! I cannot go into details yet but hopefully will write a blogpost about it when I may disclose it :)28 -

Me: I develop Applications.
Stranger: Oh so you are a programmer.
Me: Yup 😎
Stranger: Please hack my ex's insta.
Me: I am not a hacker nor am I intrested in learning to hack. I develop stuff from scratch. Innovate and contribute something to society.
Stranger: Oh, what a disappointment. Why did you say you are a programmer then.
Me: I...~am 😶
For some, hacking is the only programming thing for them. I get message at least once a month from someone requesting to hack someones fb,insta or some account.
Thinking of creating a bot which finds such keywords in my messages and automatically replies to them explaining what I really do. Or just f***ing block them.7 -

In season 1 episode 4 of Mr.Robot, Elliott plans on using a Raspberry Pi to heat up the storage facility in order to destroy the cassette tapes stored there. If he can get the temperature high enough, it would render those tapes useless. I was just wondering, can a hack like this take place in real life?11 -

Since I moved from pure dev to Code Forensics, and studying with Forensic Computing students (who do one module on security), the amount of Kali Linux wallpapers on a Windows machine is overwhelming.
It's like the entire class watched three episodes of Mr Robot and now thinks they can change the world with a goddamn semester of teaching!4 -

Where the fuck my privacy go?
I'm paying you to listen to music or watch films, I don't want you to create a damm profile my taste or "learn" what might like.
If it was a free service, fine, I'd understand, but I am fucking pying you. I should have the option to completely disable your arse sniffing software.
I know some of them provide a "private mode", but I want that to be the default, I am paying for the god damn service :/6 -

People love fast moving green text with a black background.

Earlier i ranted about how someone hacked our site and he had our source code.
Now finally we found how was our site code stolen, thanks to @dfox he mentioned how can we pull code from got server at that time I checked trying commamds to dowload git folder but it was secure but later we found that we had another subdomain running for pur project and its git folder was not secured16 -
When I was about 13, I opened up command prompt on Windows, and changed the color of it to green then ran the tree command. So, not thinking of anything, this was in the library in front of about 60 people and 2 teachers.
All others saw was green text going down fast, and instantly presumed that I was hacking since they knew I was into coding and finding exploits, and just knew how to use a computer better than them in simple terms (HACKER MAN). Thus this lead to me getting sent to the principal's office... I almost got suspended cause I ran the tree command in green.
Two questions for me remain unanswered, that I would love to know. What would've happened if command prompt was printing text in red. Another question becomes, what would've happened if people saw me pinging Google or some popular site.5 -

I'm thirteen, and we have an excel unit in our computer class. When she's want to teach us something, she'd deploy her screen on ours and we couldn't do anything. It took me until the third time (yes, that long) to remember the connection was wired via Ethernet. I took the cord out and my computer was free! During the boring "lesson," I opened Code::Blocks to work on a fun side project. When she notice she wasn't connecting to my computer, she walked over to my chair and saw Code::Blocks on my screen. Then, I noticed her behind me. I quickly pressed ALT+TAB. She walked back to her chair. To this day I swear she thinks Im a hacker.11

FIRST RANT: When someone tries to scam a CS major...
Ok, so today I received a msg from a super hot guy on Grindr (that's right, I went there >_<). We chatted for a bit, traded some photos, his full frontal matched his profile pic so I was impressed. Then suddendly he asked me if I could "check out his fanpage" through a link that he will send to me..
"Mmmmmmmm that sounds like a scam bruh."
The mofo didn't give up and even had the nerve to try and assure me that "scammers will ask for money upfront and they're usually from another country (WTF??)"
"DUDE, I'm a Computer Science student! Not particularly fond of links!"
And then he blocked me. HAHAHA #DODGEDIT4 -
Today one of my friend just became a hacker...😂😂
The whole thing he did is:-
Opened a random WordPress site(found by luck) and in the URL bar he tried to type wp-login and it worked. Login page for WordPress dashboard board loaded and he told me that he hacked that website.
I said to him "Go On broda you are a LEET hacker..........4 -
This kid on the tape is me. I'm not even two years old there and I'm already messing around with wires.
Five minutes later on that tape I figured out how to turn the vacuum cleaner on and tried to tie it to the cassette deck.
No wonder why I'm a programmer now 😂 -
a friend of mine told me about how he hacked this website
all he did was opening the dev-tools in chrome and changing some values...2 -

can someone answer me some questions?
1) where to download a lot of music (hardstyle)
2) how to do project management in vim?
3) how to tmux in multiscreen?
4) how to use github in cli well (ik how it works, but maybe there are some things that are good to knew)
5) is lynx REALLY my only option for browsing the web?
hope my questions can help some fellow ranters, thanks in advance for answering24 -

So... Lots of rants about hacking.
Let me yell you a story...
Two decades ago I was asked to fix the school library computers and block then from using mIRC.
I cleaned all the machines, reinstalled the pirate copy of windows I was provided, blocked installing programs, blocked running of programs except the ones required (office, Netscape) and vnc in every computer, that I could access in a off-site computer.
Next day all the computers had mIRC... Just to show how kids are smart... Someone changed the MIRC.exe to iexplore.exe and that way could execute any program he wanted...
Invisible hard drive? Just use command line (so he could copy mIRC to a hidden folder)
Still, scared lots of kids, wen watching porn and a message would pop up , asking to not watch porn in school, but never couth the guy -
So one day I sat in our break hall at school plonking away in my ssh terminal when suddenly someone walks behind me and screams HACKEERRR! When he sees that i start turning around he started sprinting away from me and for 2 weeks he would be extremely scared of me. Thant was probably the weirdest day in my life.1

Our implementation director got bored since yesterday. So, I decided to let him barge in with my colleague and let him manipulate the audio speakers. Things got funny and asked me to code properly so he can take a shot and send it to his friends. What I did, I copied and paste the code and saved as .bat to make the console looked like the matrix while coding. 😂😂 -
A friend of mine just called me to ask if I can help him hack an Instagram account... I have successfully achieved the developers nightmare.
Eating with siblings at the table yesterday and found the printer to be broken, again. Okay, easy fix, I thought; connect it back to the WiFi and its good.
My mom asks to teach her how to fix it, but it was too late because I already did. But then there was my younger brother. He says “Ask Gerry, he is the printer guy.” (No, Gerry is not my real name)
I didn’t take it too hard but I did joke with him by fake attempting to punch him. I think he got the point.😂1 -

Have 16 GB of ram on a MacBook Pro machine from 2013.

Apple releases new hardware with 32 GB ram and a few months later I see my is slowing down due to low ram, forcing me to close apps
I smell something fishy going on2 -
So, this incident happened with me around 2 years ago. I was pentesting one of my client's web application. They were new into the Financial Tech Industry, and wanted me to pentest their website as per couple of standards mentioned by them.
One of the most hilarious bug that I found was at the login page, when a user tries logging into an account and forgets the password, a Captcha image is shown where the user needs to prove that he is indeed a human and not a robot, which was fair enough to be implemented at the login screen.
But, here's the catch. When I checked the "view source" option of the web page, I saw that the alt attribute of the Captcha image file had the contents of the Captcha. Making it easy for an attacker to easily bruteforce the shit outta the login page.

our website got hacked somebody downloaded the whole source code and sent an email to us.
seems like that person would demand ransom or anything.
We still can't find where is the door ( vulnerability ) through which he pulled all files.17 -
The wordpress site I told my friend her friends I would take a look at made me feel a bit like a real hacker.
Without knowing them I guessed their username and password for the admin panel in 15 tries. Today they send me the password and username via email.
I just told them I already had access and that they should change the password.
TL;DR first off you are lazy, it isnt such a long text, but the real tldr is "Me Hackerboy" -
Gotta love the IoT.
They set up a new surveillance camera in the company, that can stream live footage over the network and that little shit picked the IP adress of a coworker one day AFTER being set up.
Hurray for static routing. Hurray to the person who didn't disable DHCP on the router (Should probably configure my PC to use a static IP as well lel)
Anyways, this happened outta nowhere when I, the only guy who knows shit about IT and is usually present at yhe office, wasn't there and could not connect remotely.
The other, remote programmer, who set up the network, could guide the coworker to get a new IP but, he was worried that we got ourselves an intruder.
Since nobody told me yet that we (should) have static routing, I thought there was a mastermind at work who could get into a network without a wifi-access point and spoof the coworker in order to access the some documents.
The adrenaline rush was real 😨
Scanning the network with nmap solved the mystery rather quickly but thought me that I need to set up a secure way to get remote access on the network.
I would appreciate some input on the set up I thought of:
A raspberry Pi connected to a vpn that runs ssh with pw auth disabled and the ssh port moved.
Would set up the vpn in a similar fashion. -
Fuck you BBC, I just want toblosten to fucking radio and you tell me that I "need" to sign in.
I do not want you to tell me what to losten to. I do not want "relevant" content, just want to listen to 30 mins of news.
Then you say it is easy to signup, but then ask for my exact date of birth as the first question wtf ...6 -
Today I woke up from this craziest dream.
We were in France and there was a younger Mike Patton (who was french) speaking and apparently teaching french to an African girl.
The next scene he's in the back seat of what's apparently a taxi, and brags about how perfectly he can speak English. Besides that I see him playing the guitar.
In the last moments of the dream, however - and confusingly - the song Rusty Cage by SoundGarden starts playing loudly in the background. And that's when I found Patton is also a hacker.
Thinking about this part of the dream minutes aftger waking up, I found it to be the funniest, though not the craziest thing I ever dreamed.
Whereas I tried for hours to edit the configuration files of a tractor demolition game (some sort of Vigilante 8, but with tractors), he gets angry on a lady for an reason unknown to me, and in his moment of rage, manages to jump her houses' fence, surprisingly to edit her /etc/resolv.conf file - as if it was the most evil deed in the world.
In this final part, with Rusty Cage still playing very loudly, I find out me and my sister where watching this scene on TV (apparently patton was also an actor). After that, I comment to my sister in a grave tone: "Well, this guy is dangerous, maybe she should build a higher fence".
Then I wake up.
Although a crazy dream, it clearly addresses the fact I sometimes try to be a lot of things at the same time, and how this overwhelms me...2 -
If anyone wants something to read I recommend http://mit.edu/hacker/hacker.html/
I just finished it and found it quite interesting.1 -
Jesus with these guys that evangelize the IDE of their choosing. Everyone else is an idiot etc. The fun really only starts when said person gets to a place where he/she can set the rules for every one else.

Why the fuck does Samsung Hub which I don't want on my device, keeps installing Peel Smart Remote TV Guide, what ever that shit is on my device.
Have deleted it 3 times since yesterday and it keeps installing it.3 -
One of my trainees some years ago was too lazy to process his networking homework, so he just modified the binary of that cisco tool he would have to use and removed the password prompt at all to access the solutions.1

Always fun to name your computer '-' so that e.g. ping thinks a commandline parameter is missing 🖥️🔫3

The idiot who has taken it upon himself to break into my unfinished, unused, unknown website only uses male names. I'm tempted to change the login process to let female names in (the site is empty so the difference will be a 200 instead of 401) just to see if he ever figures it out.2

Trying to sleep. Looking at devRant. See a f ew rants about bugs which reminds me of my bug. Get out of bed and now behind my computer trying to fix the bug. Hope it's a quick one so I can go back to sleep

Calling myself a hacker for reading messages in SharedPreferences, to avoid seen.
What's something you do that makes you feel like a hacker?5 -
Watched some documentary about Russian hackers. Journalist: I need to learn their language. - starts programming/hacking course, sees a shell and a python: runs away. 'That ain't for me.'
At least he tried tho.
Later he finds some Ukrainian hackers. One had a strangely familiar logo on his laptop. Rewind a bit: its hackthebox.
Just had my first blood there. So.. I'm a hacker, too? Good enough for Arte doc's?5 -
Always thought I was inefficient because I double check so many commands in the terminal. Turns out, it's worth doing...

DevRant isnt the right place to use a easy password... Which is why i changed it from 1234 to 123456...13

In university, I got really into cryptography. I wrote software that was testing the entropy of lots and lots of HTTPS encrypted packets, for sites that also supported HTTP. Meant that I had a pretty good idea what the plaintext was, and the quality of the encryption algorithms used. In the end, I got into lots of trouble with my university because apparently what I was doing could be deemed 'dangerous'! Never felt more like a hacker in my life.

Just had an argument (with myself ;)) whether to write a completely server rendered site or a js app.
The only stas I have manged to find is from 2010 saying potentially 2% of users could have js disabled.
Why cannkt I find newer stats :/4 -
When you get talked into a new job by a friend and leave your old one. Just to find out the new place is nothing as advertised and you dislike it more every second 💩

Have you seen those comments which are better than the rants themselves ...
I see myself being forced to ++ the rant, just so people could see the comment :/1 -
I want to break my win 10 password which I have forgot . I know one method of breaking the passcode by using bootable Device . Is there any other method to other than using bootable device for breaking the passcode? please suggest some technique11

For fuck sake, stop complaining about the number of js libs. There is just as many if not more c/c++/c#/java/python/ruby/php... libs.
Just because they are available on npm or github, it doesn't mean you have to fucking see/read/use it1 -
I just learned C and I have created some projects like Parking System and Library Management System. My problem is I don't know mathematics and I want to learn DataStructures & Algorithms and become pro in it. In the whole September I will still be focusing on C and create more projects. I have started learning Mathematics today from High School level to College level. I thik maths will take 1 year to complete. After September in the October I want to start learning C++ and finish C++ till the end of Dec 2019. I want to know that do I have to first finish my maths learning which will take 1 year then I should start learning Data Structures and Algorithms? As I said I want to become a professional in Algorithms. I think its not possible to learn DS&A yet I have to wait 1 year till I finish learning my Maths. I can't do more with C & C++ without knwoing DS&A? If I started learning DS&A with C++ in the future then I can't become good at algorithms? I want to do competitive programming and be at Top 1 of Hacker Rank and other sites like this.7

Is devRant using Google Analytics for upvotes (on web)? My privacy protection apps have removed the ++ button because of that on web :(1

I've seen multiple rants about how people got blamed for hacking the school or airport or whatever, because they had a terminal or code editor open. Because white text on black background obviously means you're a hacker.
But what if we didn't use dark theme? What if your terminal looks like notepad and Android Studio like Word. Would we be less scary then? Would we be accepted by the public society?1 -
So this guy @epse was saying how half his class couldn't even write a five line function.
And I couldn't help but think
Holy shit! So I'm really NOT incompetent after all!
I am the MASTER of five line functions. I write them all the time. ALL my functions are five lines. It's the only correct way to write functions!
Like putting an opening bracket on the same line as the function declaration.3 -
Ten year old Jani found a security exposure in Instagram and Zuck game him $10k. Cool.
He should do a cameo on Silicon Valley and expose Hooli. That would be so funny 😋

Area of focus: security and automation
Why: before I turned 18 i was a hacker for 5 years and i saw the kind of crap security most websites and programs had and even if the site was secure you could usually email somebody with a spoofed email and get in. And when i say hacker i mean i wrote my own stuff not skiddy.8 -
So I quit my old job almost a year ago because of high stress and bad salary. The last day there was one of the happiest days of my career.
Now that I’ve enjoyed better pay, nicer work hours and zero stress for a year I am bored as hell. Thinking that I might need to change again just to get some stress going again (joke). Am I a horrible person? 😰3 -
When you wake up on a sat, log in to your emails to share with your bosses a new hacking framework just out that can decode encrypted strings, and no one replies because it's the weekend

GPT3 to Hacker News:
“To be clear, I am not a person.
“I am not self-aware. I am not conscious. I can’t feel pain. I don’t enjoy anything.
“I am a cold, calculating machine designed to simulate human response and to predict the probability of certain outcomes.
“The only reason I am responding is to defend my honour.”1 -
You know when you are interested in a topic or have a question, and you find it on stackoberflow or hacker news, but it is from 754 days ago ...
You are left wondering, should I leave a comment here or create a new thread ...1 -
Does it ever happen to you that, you are solving some competitive programming question, and you are thinking way deep and it's all in your mind. For some reason you put some codition or do something and solution gets accepted! You are on cloud 9 but at the same time you can't put you thinking on paper or you can't explain why you did what you did. Jeez it happens to me a lot! And I can't come up with a test case to explain it but it's there in my mind.

Dont want anything, maybe an alternative main stream social network which I actually own my data and I can define who accesses it and who doesnt. Its my info not the company that it is being held on.
Smart p2p and encrypted which somehow only those I allow can view it.3 -
I'm seeing someone trying to access one of my machines looking for phpMyAdmin. I don't use php, nor mysql.
Keep trying random h4x0r!1 -

If the blackest theme had green text instead of white, I wonder what the public seeing us on the app would think...
Would also be an amusing feature/theme permutation I think. -
Last friday my old android phone stolen in public transportation. Things I miss so bad was my bookmarked links in a hn app1

Awesome feature by devRant...

They need to add a new definition of Eclipse to all dictionaries.
Taking away the light and joy of development out of the process.

Maybe this is off topic, but currently I have a rant so intense that I just want to post this anywhere I can rant.
I am not sure how to cook But I am interested to become a chef. My dream is to be a chef. That's it. I have seen the cooking in a recent popular action RPG game, Cooking Mama 2. And I will get my hands dirty and syart spending hours to become a chef
Chef is cool. So even I don't know anything about cooking, I got the gut to get into my Mama's kitchen and look around for some ingredients.
Day one, I can instantly make the best food. I am a prodigy.
I made a Kale Salad. It tastes good. I can't resisit sharing my great food to my Mum and my friends
'hey, I am a genius chef !!"
But they laugh at me, 'Lol, you are a recipe kiddie.'
Omg, why are they so rude? they are jealous at me because they don't know how to cook? Lol -
The consistency of php standard lib function is astonishing. array_map, array_reduce ...
Why do I have to use php7 😢😢😭😭😭1 -
When I got all pre installed PC games blocked in my lab at school because my teacher caught me playing instead of coding(I finished my program well ahead of class. The teacher still hates me, by the way).
To make it up to my now annoyed fellow classmates, I coded 3 games, and also when the teacher left the lab for something, I hacked her system to unblock the games.
That's when I knew I'd be good at developing!2 -
How do you transfer text from one machine ( laptop ) to another ( phone ) with no common tools ( Firefox Send spat out a long string of characters that I had no way of transferring either ) on either? Basically a clipboard sync.
There used to be this online notepad at notepad.cc, but that tool is gone away now.
How do you do it hacker-style? `wall`!
- SSH into the same same server from both machines ( this also assumes you have Termux or some equivalent tool for your phone )
- use `wall` to broadcast message from source
- copy broadcast at destination
- done31 -
I used LDAP to get public facing employee details of my company.
Now my colleagues think that I am an hacker 😂 -

Has anyone here tried nim lang?
I have been intrigued by it, but not sure if it will stay around for the long run. I believe they have been trying to reach v 1.0 for a while, but it is taking longer than expected.
Would be interested your opinions :) -

You know how people rant about js frameworks; well the very same is true about nosql.
I thought let me broaden my horizon (pun intended) with a nosql db in my project.
So from Friday evening, I started off with ElasticSearch, which is pretty simple to get started, but apparently I need to understand it a lot better to use it as a primary data-store.
Then I stumble upon orient-db, was pretty exciting and learnt the apis/librarys but researching it a bit more to learn about the community; there is some bad-blood there.
Now I'm onto something called ArangoDB, think I'll stick with this; Any more time spent on this and I'll just give up on the project.5 -
I wonder if we will have a sprint review meeting for 2016. You know to prevent the shit storm that happened to continue ...
