To client: "I will have the project ready in 4 weeks" - starts work on the last weekend before the deadline.
Why do I always do that?2 -
How do you guys deal with procastination?
I have this thing where I procastinate untill the last day and then I start doing things because I feel more motivated/ working faster, untill then I watch youtube and kill time by other means.16 -
Me been in the company for almost more than a year now and still understanding the system.
Another developer, been here for around 4 months, and where ever I look, she will be contributing. Whether it's coding or resovling complex host issues. She works a lot.
I feel lucky to be able to work with her and also all other Devs in this team are awesome.
My motivational source and inspiration to work harder and contribute more and more to the team. -
A dev joins the project. I help him set up, and he has everything up and running. I give him a task to fix a CSS issue, I even tell him what needs to be done. Almost 4 hours later I begin to wonder what's taking him so long and what is he up to. He finally sends me a pull request with just one line of code changed, and leaves for the day, over 45 mins earlier than supposed to.12

The ability to start my projects and finish them.
Like for real I have a bazillion ideas yet none was even started, and the few exceptions that were started are unfinished...1 -
I was given 6 whole months to rewrite some old monolithic web app exactly 5 months ago today. Now I have to show my boss the progress I've made. How do I explain him that I wasted my time in this order:
1.- heavy procrastination
2.- try new frameworks to work with, pick one, start writing the app, regret and start over again using a different framework.
3.- devrant
4.- existencial crisis and self doubt.
Now all I have are a bunch of incomplete buggy modules and a mental breakdown.8 -
Imagine life as a Game,
Levels are Ages, if you have gotten older your level increases, and lifes getting easier and harder, easier with Knowledge and harder because of Diseases, challenges, kids etc...
Quests are life goals, such as having kids,
having a job, a family etc...
Side-Quests are jobs your getting from your boss, Jobs from Clients, Helping the Family, Cleaning your Room, etc..
Fast-Travel is Cars, Busses, Trains, Trams, etc... (Except in Germany)
and Last but not least,
Procastination, The End Boss of life, if you defeat Procastination you have beaten life... (But also died because the game is Over...)4 -
Ffs... installed devRant, checked my long forgotten twatter, looked at my fb and now I can't stop browsing soc media. In 2 hours I managed to write only 10 lines of code 💩7

Feeling absolutely drained.......
My job is sucking my soul, want to apply for a PhD but procastination has engulfed me.... It's like being at the bottom of a deep ditch with very smooth walls; while it is comfortable for now, there is no escape and no scope for improvement.
Need some serious courage to figure out a way to escape...3 -
Math is like a language syntax. You understand the meaning of needed symbols and keywords, then you can write it the way you want.
Physics is like a framework. You have to understand how problems can be solved using patterns someone else thinks is the best way.
This is what I think when I should be reading for the big test of physics and math for upper secondary school.2
