All I have to say is that ThinkPads are a wonderful piece of hardware that are worth the price but if they have their BIOS locked (if you buy it second hand) they're the worst thing in the world that should just be thrown into the gutter as you can't even reinstall windows in most cases nor install Linux due to secure boot being enabled and BIOS being locked ffs I had great hopes for this one4

Today I learned:
`/usr` stands for “universal system resources” not “user”
`/dev` stands for “device” not “development”
Had no idea.31 -
The people I work with are so fucking antisocial. Everyone waits until the kitchen is empty before going to get a coffee. Also, the dev next to me seems to think breathing heavily is a great idea. Fuck these people.
Oh...the kitchen is free! Time for coffee!4 -
My girlfriend knows what a coder needs when it’s their birthday. Lucky to have her. Walked into my room and it was set up like this.51

Unbelievable...
My company bought me a new laptop. It has 2 512 GB SSDs.
Our IT set it up with windows 10.
ON BOTH SSD.
OM fucking G. How dump you have to be to install windows 10 two times in the same machine? What kind of mental illness is this?40 -
my longest coding session was from 10am to 2am, so 16hrs
was in first semester of uni and we had to build the game "breakout" using a predefined guideline.
i had to program the collision detection of a ball against some blocks that had to be destroyed
took a long time for me to do the task, as i'm not the fastest coder (and often neither the smartest😅) and had to fight a bunch of bugs too.
in the end it kind of worked but the performance was horrible at best
