I finally perfected a script that helps me fix my procrastination! It hooks into DNS's log and spies on my and blocks me if i get too addicted!
No joke I spent on it likely cumulatively over 48 hours of pure coding time but it was worth it.
If anyone would like to take a look or criticize my coding, here it is: https://github.com/meowxiik/...8 -
Upgrading RAM in a customer's laptop, pretty easy, right?
Well not in the Asus VivoBook Max. You have to disassemble everything just to get to the slot under the motherboard because it was too hard to put a fucking hole in the bottom for that. 20 minutes to complete the job and you know what? I also managed to break a flex cable so now I have to fix that or buy a replacement for the whole keyboard/mousepad assembly.
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK3 -
I would like to thank everybody for all the ++'s
Now I can finally have my Linux savior Tux at my side <3 -
FUCK THE EU!
Ok I said it, what? Someone had too.
Can we all move on now?
Ps: if you made it this far, be sure to ++ for your angers and frustrations over the current articles we all know and hate.5 -

Don't. Especially while you're not a senior specialist. It doesn't really matter bad company or good: they all have something bad, they all have something good. From the bad examples you will learn WHAT, HOW and *WHY* should not be done. From the good examples you will learn what and why works and how efficiently.
Next month I'm gonna be working on a project that is SO bad I will flood DR with rants. But I'm looking forward to it, because I know I will learn what else should not be done.
Better learn from their mistakes than your own2 -
I """""accidentally"""'" found some security holes in my school's Windows public computer setup.
Every student and teacher has a personal Active Directory, obviously they should be able to only see their own right?
oh wait the directory up button in explorer shows me all of them and I have r/w access to teacher and student ADs.
That's cool.
Also, the command prompt, Run prompt ad Explorer path bar are disabled...
...but batch scripts work.
Sweet.
Surely I can't do something dumb like--- oh, regedit's blocked but not the reg command.
They use the-- WHY IS GPEDIT NOT BLOCKED
Well what the fuck.
(All of this was responsibly handled by emailing the tech department. They have an email just for this! ...got a bounceback "this person is no longer employed at XYZ School.")6 -
That moment when you thought you've fortified yourself with enough RAM for the future (32GB) and Blender fails to work with a large project because...it runs out of memory (just in the loading phase, building them intermediate data structures pushes it over the edge I guess).
Fml.
It was kind of fascinating to watch the memory usage indicator creep up though. Morbid fascination.3
