Yesterday I was working on posting a quality rant but couldn't come up with something good. I browsed around other people's rants and started shit-posting in their comment section. I also put multiple hits on the ++ button on funny comments.

Today I will continue on coming up with a quality rant. No blockers, thank you. Rest of the day, I will be browsing other ranter's rants and mess around in their comment section.

Wtf?! I would have thought that it’s just used for small scripts occasionally that don’t change frequently and just rot in some project for years.

And of course there are some niche Data Science and Math areas where Python is used primarily.
Maybe Machine Learning and "AI" as well.

But 3rd place? Almost 50% of devs use Python?

Can someone explain?

I'm working at a startup and one of the founders asked the accountant to prepare a presentation for the company's financial state. This was back for the first trimester of 2023. It said that we are losing money but not to worry because x,y,z (believable reasons).

I had yesterday a lunch conversation with the office (except the founders) and the accountant said that we are bleeding quite a lot of money each month and the company is not looking healthy.

My boss (previously CTO, has stepped down) also left the company for unrelated reasons (mainly the childish behaviour of the CEO, increased stress, devs being fired for no good (humane) reasons, stupid decisions, devs leaving and the projects going to shit due to unrealistic deadlines by new COO) .

So does anyone has any advice for job hopping for a junior front-end dev that wants to do more back-end development in the next company :)?

Me: .......uh "everyone"? There's like 500 people here and only about 3 even know I exist.

Never call a variable 'r' while debugging in python console.
I was trying to fix my code but for some reason the program didn't follow the code flow. I hate it when it happens because you can't pinpoint the source of the problem. I restarted the kernel, nothing, then I rebooted the IDE, nothing. The code behaved weirdly, the only thing I was doing was assigning a value to a temp variable called 'r' and then displaying it. The console kept telling me "--Return--", I didn't understand... Why, my old friend, are you telling me you're returning? Then I changed the variable name to old 'tmp' and it all worked. I finally realized that 'r' is a pdb command... I was angry at the console for obeying my own order... I'm sorry console

Hey guys I am looking for some career advice

I am currently a Bachelor's student in Melbourne, Australia and I am trying to source a placement (internship) but I have had no success in it

So if anyone could give me advice on how I could advance my career it would be great

P.S. I have also heard about the hidden job market here but I have no idea on how I could tap into that

I can't say how a CS degree helped me since I dropped out, but in all of my tech related jobs we turn down candidates with a CS degree left and right. Turns out showing up for class and managing to pass doesnt give you real world experience, passion, or even knowledge. I used to be a floor factory worker and my team lead was a CS degree holder.

But hey, maybe the crippling debt and super unrelated classes were worth it.

The programming teacher was interested in Python, so I showed him what a script we made in Java would look like in Python, and he was so impressed he is thinking about completely changing the learning plan stuff to teach Python instead of Java. Now I'm not sure if I should've done that, because I was interested in the Java stuff and things and the other classmates would probably be completely confused if we take such a turn. :S

Interviewers were very nice and professional :) If all goes smoothly this adventure starts in September!

My 8 year old brother started attending a robotics class a few days ago. He already loves it. I'm a proud big sister 😊
(And I'm already planning on how to start teaching him programming.)

Create something that will take humanity forward. Not just a utility software but make things that'll help solve the biggest problems humans as a society face - poverty, hunger, loneliness, pollution etc. All these problems are on my radar.

The idea is to use science to solve social problems. And not just stop at that. Make things that will help humans evolve into the next evolutionary phase.
