ShitDev: yhm, you know, we need to fix it... maybe
Me: why this exception is swallowed?
ShitDev: oh, really? yhm, yhm
Me: why this function is copy-pasted and repeated (20 LoCs)?
ShitDev: yeah, true, but we wanted to make it fast.
Me: Dear director, this project sux and its quality is shit.
Director: you're exaggerating, it can't be that bad, it works, right?

Got my very first job in a reputed software company of our country Bangladesh, as Associate Software Engineer (Java). 😄
Finally, my hard work paid off. 😁5
FUCK VISUAL STUDIO ANBD EVERYTHING IT FUCKING STANDS FOR. PIECE OF SHIT IDE CANT HANDLE MORE THAN THREE FUCKING WINDOWS AT A FUCKING TIME WHY CANT A BILLION DOLLAR MOTHERFUCKING COMPANY MAKE COMPETENT SOFTWARE FOR ONCE? WHY IS MICROSOFT SO FUCKING AWFUL IN EVERYTHING IT DOES? WHY THE FUCK IS THERE NO AUTOMATIC VERSIONING LIKE EVERY CIVILIZED BASIC FUCKING IDE THAT EVER EXISTS? WHY DO I HAVE TO FUCKING MANUALLY VERSION MY FUCKING FILES? WHY THE FUCKING FUCK IS VISUAL STUDIO FUCKING GOING TO A FILE I USED 300 YEARS AGO WHEN I DEBUG AN APPLICATION? MOST USELESS, UNINTUITIVE PIECE OF SHIT SOFTWARE IVE EVER USED. IF YOU ARENT USING SOME GODDAMN SERVER SOLUTION TO KEEP TRACK WITH YOUR PROJECT VERSIONS, GOOD EVER FUCKING LUCK RECOVERING LOST CODE BECAUSE FUCKING MICROSOFT CANT DO WHAT FUCKING INTELLIJ DID 5 MILLION FUCKING YEARS AGO26
I'm an apprentice software engineer, have been for about a year now. I feel so dumb all the time. Used to be I'd just teach myself at my own pace for about a year or two (which was slow, on and off because of life getting in the way). Now I'm surrounded by programmers with decades more experience than me and I can't help but feel inferior.
I want to get better faster but, I work full-time now so I don't know how to supplement my studying. I've been studying linear-algebra online because my maths is crap and I remember one of my colleagues mentioning that it would be useful. But now I'm not sure because apparently discrete mathematics is better.
I also need to keep up with Java since that's what I'm learning in university but, I'm mostly using React/Typescript in my current project. By the time I finish work I don't even want to look at a line code and I lack the self-discipline to force myself to study in the evening.
I need to pick a direction and stick with it but, it's seems to just be increasingly harder as I've gone on.3
What a blow when I saw this sticker on the car in front of me:
"It this sticker is blue than you are driving too fast."
I was driving near the engineering faculty.19
That's a hard one.
I guess it's a toss up between Salesforce APis and Cloudflare.
Both are straight forward and work within minutes of getting started, and both are well documented to the point, you only need a basic understanding of what you are doing or trying to manipulate to get it up and running.
If only AWS could do the same 😅1

Shout out to the Amazon app error page. Really would like to place this damn order, but this helps3
Programming is cool because you can build out a super advanced use case of react hooks and also forget how to code radio buttons in the same 5 minutes.
A few days ago, I thought, "I haven't updated React dependencies since. So, let's do it". Because, its gonna be a new demo app, I just ran "npx create-react-app my-app" and npm start inside the project. Holy cow!! It doesn't even start!!
Its showing this unknown error! So, I googled. but after trying a lot of "Solutions" it still doesn't work. So, I just gave up and thinking, "What about the Frameworks/Libraries build on top of ReactJS? Do the also have the same problem?"
So, I created a NextJS project and you guessed it, The same error exists in the NextJS projects. Then I tried the popular boilerplates created using NextJS ( and React) and Volla! They also contain the same error!
Ugghhh! I thought, tonight I'm gonna play with NextJS a little bit. But unfortunately, because of this React Error, I can't :(4
Open code to look at it again

GODDAMMIT okay time to set up 2fa
(GitHub says nothing was done to my account besides a login but i'm still suspicious...)11
Well it seems devrant got an update since the last time I actually really looked at it. Or I'm just blind. Or it's been there all along and I'm just now noticing it, but it's driving me insane so I must ask:
Wtf does this do? What is the design decision behind it?! It's just wasting screen for no good reason!
It's not even Tumblr/Reddit like where it continues to tab over on mentions or other to represent a flow! It's just there! Gahhhhhh!!!!!!!11
I don't know what the devs at ProShow are smoking but I want some. Their product, specifically ProShow Production, is garbo. Don't get me wrong, the stuff is great for making slideshow with effects and stuff but good GOD.
+ If your image's name or the full path to the image contains anything that is not (I think) ASCII, the program will refuse to work with it.
+ If you're using non-English characters for eg. caption ("ẫ" for example) even on a Unicode font that supports that char, it will render a box. You know which box it is. You have to specifically use a font family to have it rendered correctly at the exchange of ugly-ass fonts that has been overused.
+ A majority of keyboard shortcuts are not supported while editing a slide (Ctrl + A, Ctrl + Z being my two favorite).
The best part? I'm forced to use this thing because of time constraints. I'd rather fry my puny 4GB RAM stick and crappy Intel HD Graphics 550 working with Premiere/After Effects than using ProShow. But nooope. ProShow. Fuck you.
So today I had an initial interview for a tier 1 analyst position (it's a student position). The interview went really good, and I pretty much landed it and my next one is going to be next week. It sounded pretty awesome, but a part of me thinks it's going to be a tech support position more than anything else. Nevertheless, I hope I'll get the job, it seems like a nice gateway to more awesomererer jobs.
So here's my question: can any of you guys tell me more about this type of job? How mundane or interesting is it? I'm probably not going to decline the position, I just want to be ready for what's coming.9
