HR Lady: we saw your profile and we think it fits what we're looking for, I just need to know what you use for front-end programming
Me: I use ReactJs, AngularJs and for backend NodeJs
HR Lady: Hmm, so you don't use Javascript
Me: ... (unhandled exception in my head)
Me: M'am everything I mentioned is using Javascript
HR Lady: oh! ok.11 -

“Fullstack dev continues to be consistent”
We’d an enhancement request where we needed to support Ionic apps. Our manager didn’t know anything about Ionic so she asks us what it was instead of asking Google.
Manager: so what’s this Ionic thingy?
Me: Ionic issss.... (gets interrupted by Fullstack dev)
Fullstack dev: so the thing is ... it’s like... (consistent with his opening lines as always) it’s a third party plugin which converts react app and html pages to native code.
Me: (thinking of sacrificing him at the altar of Lucifer)
Manager: Nice!
More to come.18 -
I DID IT :D
I VERTICALLY ALIGNED A DIV IN CSS
I'm a noob in front-end development, I usually use bootstrap but now I did it in vanilla CSS inside ReactJs =D
or is it lol, I don't know, I used these:
position: "relative",
top: "50%",
transform: "translateY(-50%)"

I created a my portfolio using ReactJS and actually open sourced the whole thing. Within just a few weeks, its got 67 stars, 38 forks, 3 watches, 1 issue, 1 pull request, and so on.
People out of nowhere messaged me in my whatsapp, skype, facebook to help them in React.
People out of nowhere wanted to hire me, even though I'm still working in a company.
People out of nowhere messaged me just to tell me, how much they liked my work and appreciated it for open sourcing it.
It felt awesome! Like, I can't explain how amazing it felt! ^_^10 -
Programming is cool because you can build out a super advanced use case of react hooks and also forget how to code radio buttons in the same 5 minutes.

Reactdev, what kind of ui library that usually you guys use and really easy to understand? Something like material ui, react-table or anything like that. I just need a really easy components library that I can use for small projects22

My thoughts:
Angular very good framework BUT react + redux fucking awesome7 -
Almost 3 weeks back I joined a company as a React developer. For a week I had nothing to work on as they were already working on few projects.
So my senior asked me to take up a project(not yet live) which was developed by 2 interns, as the frontend guy's internship was about to end in 4 days I have to take over the front-end role.
So I talked to that guy for next 2 days regarding all the project scope, codebase and whatnot. But still not entirely convinced. As i got the repo access, I began to check the codes. God !! It was all spaghetti code. I was damn frustrated. And still I am.
This whole week I am trying to do the refactoring as much as I can, I completely lost interest.
I cannot blame the intern guy, he is smart and tried to do the best he could, as he didn't know about the company standards. Maybe I was too the same kind back then. Now he is gone and I am stuck building components over that code.
Bonus: He used some old react boilerplate.
-_-5 -
Ok, so I work at this "Great" company. I joined a new team recently with a project that is supposed to be a lot better than many of the other projects we have.
THESE MOTHEERRRRRFUCKERS don't even have hot reload on the app. You have to rebuild the app everytime you make a change. Are you kidding me?! We are using React. One of the basics of React is hot reload. I get into a fucking meeting and one of the devs is like, "I have one important thing to tell you, don't use hooks (a not so new feature in react yet something everyone should use at this point)" and the critical reason we don't use it is because they don't want to confuse the Java devs who are used to their little oop style o_O
Maaaan fuck your developers, it's not my fault you guys can't learn something so simple like functional programming. I haven't even started a sprint yet, I'll burn this app and make you rewrite it all.15 -
Showing ReactJS to a PHP developer must be what it felt like to show fire to a caveman for the first time…6

Why the hell does every single frontend job on Earth require expert knowledge of React, a fad JS library that will be forgotten in 5 years?
For extra credit: when was the sage advice of "keep content, appearance, and behavior separate" overruled in favor of "use JavaScript for literally everything"? Have I been in a coma for the past 3 years?
Look, I understand the appeal of separating code into repeatable components. I just don't understand why essentially the same thing can't be accomplished with vanilla JS, which is ten times easier to understand and doesn't require an entire website to be written in some make-believe offshoot of Ecmascript that will look like hieroglyphics a decade from now.
There are also seemingly no positions that offer people a platform to start applying React to real world scenarios. I've seen the "understand React in 5 minutes" articles. Wow, super cool, you used 30 lines of JavaScript to render a "Hello world" div. The possibilities are truly endless.
But seriously, how does this shit work? Where do I go to learn the mystical art of offloading every single one of a website's responsibilities to JavaScript? How do I use React to build an actual functioning website, and at what point will it save me time or increase my productivity instead of just pissing me off?17 -
Recently, my friend and I participated in a hackathon and had the chance of building my very first Dapp. We call it FarmerChain. FarmerChain has a module called Farmer Bank. Today was the first time I was able to develop a full stack by my self!!!!
(I mean not by myself, StackOverflow was my Bible)
It's a small project with three modules , and while I've worked front end, back end and machine learning separately, I used to develop on a single component.
Today I built all the components on my own.
The hardest part was linking the nodejs file with the python script. Which seemed easy at first but then I needed to go through the documentation to understand the working behind the scenes.
Just looking how to deploy it now
This is a victory rant.
While it is not something big I feel so proud of myself 🥰1 -
Just deployed my first big project!
Build on React using Redux and HTML / CSS (captain obvious).
The website is called https://2dor3d.com
It allows movie fans to vote Yes or No 3D after seeing the film in 3D.
On the other hand, it allows movie goers to check the current score and see if that extra 3D cash is worth it!
Maybe not, if it has a low score better buy the 2D ticket.
I would love it if you guys could check it out and hopefully start using it!
I'm super proud.

2.Full stack developer is myth.
3.Multiple languages makes you impotent to fuck in any single given language.

Why the shit is WebDev getting so complicated? It’s like everyone is just trying to show how smart they are instead of finding the simplest way to solve a problem. Or maybe I’m just too dumb to figure out what all this new shit does.4

That moment of feeling ..

But then also feel good that Vuejs is mostly inspired from Angular and ReactJS and it willl be easy to migrate :)8 -
TL;DR: Stop using React for EVERYTHING. It's not the end-all solution to every application need.
My team is staffed about 50/50 with tenured devs, and junior devs who have never written a full application and don't understand the specific benefits of different libraries/framworks. As a result, most of these junior devs have jumped on the React train, and they're under the impression that React is the end-all answer to any possible application need. Doesn't matter what type of app is, what kind of data is going to be flowing through the app, data scale, etc. In their eyes, React is always the answer. Now, while I'm not a big fan of React myself, I will say that it does its job when its tasked with a data-heavy application that needs to be refreshed/re-rendered dynamically and frequently (like Facebook.) However, my main gripe is that some people insist on using it for EVERYTHING. They refuse to acknowledge that there can be better library/framework choices (Angular, Vue, or even straight jQuery,) and they refuse to learn any other frameworks. You can hit them with countless technical reasons as to why React isn't a good choice for a particular application, and they'll just spout off the same tidbits from the "ReactJS Makes My Nips Hard 101" handbook: "React is the future," "Component-based web architecture is the future," (I'm not arguing with that last one) "But...JSX bro.," "Facebook and Netflix use it, so that's how you know it's amazing." They'll use React for a simple app, and make it overly-complex, and take months to write something that should have taken them a week. For example, we have one dev who has never used any other frameworks/libraries apart from React, and he used React (via create-react-app) to write what is effectively a single form and a content widget inside of a bootstrap template. It took him 4 MONTHS to write this, and it still isn't fully functioning. The search functionality doesn't really work (in fact, it's just array filtering,) and wont return any results if you search for the first word in an entry. His repo is a mess, filled with a bunch of useless files that were bootstrap'd in via create-react-app. We've built apps like this in a week in the past using different libraries/frameworks, and he could have done the same if he didn't overly-complicate the project by insisting on using React. If your app is essentially a dynamic form, you don’t need a freaking virtual DOM.
This happens every time a big new framework hits the scene. New young developers get sucked into it, because it's the cool hip new framework (or in React's case, library.) and they use it for everything, even when it's not the best choice. It happened with Angular, Rails, and now it's happening with React.
React has its benefits, but please please please consider which library/framework is the best choice from a technical standpoint before immediately jumping on the React train because "Facebook uses it bro."2 -

My favorite quote from an article (jokingly) poking fun at React:
"I mentioned to a junior developer that his return function was getting a little unsightly with the lengthy JSX that he’d put in his render function. He told me, “Oh it’s cool. I’ll break it out into several functions that return JSX.”
I pushed him into a volcano.
The gods smiled upon us and we had rain." -
I was wondering why every time my my code is accessing the !valid() part to later realize I was coming back to it = its state is reset = I need a break T_T
P.S. if you find anything in my code make sure to let me know :)9 -
Just the fact that you wrote your simple single page "contact us" website in React shows that you have no idea what you're doing, nor do you have any idea what the actual benefits of React are and in what situations it actually shines. You're just jumping on the React bandwagon for the sake of saying "I wrote it in React," and your decision to use React for that simple website is going to effectively increase It's development time without adding any additional benefits.
Each framework has its advantages and disadvantages. It's worth it to pay attention to these advantages/disadvantage, and choose the best framework to fit your needs. Don't just use a particular framework because it's the hot new craze. Use a framework because it's the right choice from a technical standpoint, and presents you with advantages that fit your application needs.1 -
For about 1.5 years on and off, we've been developing a system to rate tickets/requests sent to our team. We wrote it in Angular, and it turned into this feature-rich gorgeous application with custom-built graphical statistic tracking, in-app social networking capabilities, robust user profiles, etc.
Eventually, we no longer had time to work on it along with all the other applications we're developing. So we passed ownership of the app over to a couple of other developers on our team. You'd think that they'd just work off what we already built and keep the robust environment we created for them. But nope, instead of keeping everything we already built, they scrapped it all and started from scratch using React instead of Angular, and removed all of those robust features and turned the app into a shell of its former self. No more statistic tracking, no more social networking capabilities, no more fancy user profiles. Just a single page with a number representing how many "Good" tickets you've sent to us, and how many "Bad" tickets you've sent.
1.5 years and hundreds of hours worth of work, all gone and replaced with the most rudimentary basic React app ever.2 -

I hate HTML forms. Fucking hate them.
They're semantic so folk use them to group related inputs.
But they're also functional if you're not just typing something in and pushing enter to send it to a server, you have to override every. fucking. event.
Semantic _or_ functional is fine, but for the love of all that is holy, not both. I hate this.14 -
"React developers" who write 1-page monolithic pages instead of modular components should be guillotined...

Being a front end developer and working in a team of motivated "full stack" developers sucks big time.
So, recently joined this new company with a very small project which just started, basically a cloud version of a really old desktop app. Few people from the team completely from the asp dotnet background decided the architecture few months before I joined in.
So, they did it something like this -
- mono repo dotnet project with VueJs app served within it (because that would be maintainable 😑)
- vue app served by pointing the built files through dotnet index file (simply because they didn't care about the gift to the front end world which is webpack or even had any knowledge about it 😑)
- added typescript because, u know it's cool 😑, without even knowing that they don't possess that team which know how to write the types (f***ers write classes for every payload object coz they don't know what interfaces are)
- no loader to load typescript, they are running tsc in watch mode and we have .js and .js.map for every .ts file in our project which some teammates are even pushing to repo
Recently, I added eslint with git hooks to the project so that everyone will at least stick to the coding standards. Now, to avoid the errors they are bypassing the git hooks by uninstalling the library and then installing it after the commit😂😂
Then we have a girl who uses document.getElementById to programmatically change styles in a Vue project😑😑😑😂
Then we have dotnet people using dotnet coding conventions all over the front end app.
People, how do I deal with these so called "full stack" people?14 -
I keep jumping between unfinished personal projects and then i get busy with the job, when I try to go back to them, I lose interest! Any advice?7

Me: Hey SEO guy. I am updating our online store from Flask/jQuery in ReactJS.
SEO guy: That is amazing. Google LOVES ReactJS and it will crawl the site very fast.
*fast forward*
SEO guy: Hey, did you change anything in the site because the site is not ranking anymore on Google. The URLs are dynamically generated in front end. Google does not like that.
ME: But you said that Google loves React. It took me nearly 1 month to migrate the code in React.
Fucking hell.15 -

I can't remember the last time I had THIS MUCH FUN developing an Android app! 😳 Have a paper due, but learning RN is actually making this pet project a huge distraction! 😳 This is a whole new world of mobile development 😆, but what if another framework takes it's place 😵. But there's still people who know Angular, and that's widely used...right 😓 and moble dev has never been this easy, so maybe it'll stick around like Node...

I learned today I can "npm install" directly from a GitHub repo. This allowed me to create a React component (viewer of gLTF files) for a 3D game and share it with my team. I know I could've published it to npm registry, but I didn't want that since it's a very specific component for our project, and private npm packages are very pricy.
Hope this random !rant will be useful for someone wanting something similar. -

Hi!
Im planning to switch for a remote company. I have 2 years of internship and 1 year of full time experience.
I also have some GitHub repos where I played around with JS frameworks and I will soon release the beta version of a puzzle game I made with React Naive in my freetime.
Im also planning on creating a simple website for myself on GitHub pages.
Would this be enough for a mid-level fully remote frontend developer position?
Thanks for the answers in advance!10 -

Hello guys. A newbie to the app. I would like to ask - start a conversation with you about adopting new technologies, if should we follow or just wait? I am a PHP developer. I would set myself around mid to senior level. Since I graduated and I start working on a Marketing/Development Company, I have been develop a lot of websites, platforms with pure PHP, JavaScript, SQL. Later I start using framework like laravel. Now I am thinking about JS frameworks such as node, vue, react, angular and maybe later noSQL. The problem is that there are many new technologies that companies required when you apply. I want to learn new technologies but I don't know if that would be helpful than focus on LAMP and get better and better to that. Many orgs have implemented their own technologies and each company is getting mad to it. You see each company adapt these new technologies even if they don't want em or projects required it. So my question is: are we talking about dramatically speed and light use to server when we use new frameworks like these, previous mentione + etc? Or companies are just trying to look cool by mentioning many techologies while projects could never ask for em? (Nothing serious, I am just trying to make conversation and clear my thoughts by getting others opinion)17

Who else feels like your JavaScript skills are lacking? I have only been coding for about 6 month's and JS for about 2 1/2 of it but still I am not an expert and I understand. But still . . .😥16

Wanting to get into reactjs but no idea where to start, I'm coming from straight php/html/css and JavaScript.

Dev: Now that I finally know PHP and JS it must be really easy to find a good framework and use to build my beautiful website.
The options are limited: AngularJS, ReactJS, Ember, ActivateJS, BackboneJS, ExpressJS, Laravel, RactiveJS, Node.JS, Meteor, Knockout, Symphony, Codeignitor
And yes, you thought if you don't like AngularJS you can easily switch to ReactJS. But guess what, every framework will use their own scripting languages like Jade, Blade, Typescript making it learning something new extremely smooth.
The documentation will be part of another rant3 -
Fuck fuck fuck. Joined a new gig. Been a week and today saw code which did something like this: .append(“<style>.add{}”)
FML! And this is a react app. -
Started a new role as a front end developer working with React, happy that i finaly won't have to work with wordpress anymore, having a great hope that I will learn from the best with my team, and then ... COVID-19 ... I have to work from home
first task, implement a feature on a react front end build with react boilerplate, first time seeing this repo and dispair quickly took over, there is no documentation except for clone and install, the code is a mess, the console is filled with errors and warnings ...
I did what I could, but it was not enought, my n+1 didn't complain but if I was him i'd fire my ass with no regret, now I understood why almost all my collegues are working as a backend devs.
I don't fear being fired, I fear the feeling of being not good, feeling useless, each morning I stare at the code and I become illiterate, I can't even touch a keyboard, now I don't know what to do, fixing this shitty app, trying to build something with react boilerplate and try to understand how the data flow, or continue my endless tutorial hell .1 -
Took an interview, where the interviewee was trying to spin tales around react fiber and preact. I was like sure, I just was watching React Conf 2017 yesterday, and he shut up.

In programming world there is lot of stuff to learn and there is lot to great developers in the world after seeing code and project's of these developers I feel I am very weak in coding currently my confident is quite low cause I cannot make a simple project by my self without seeing a project tutorial video and I don't know how do I improve my dev skills and I feel stuck any suggestions?15

Hello devs. This happens to be my first rant. And I got a question to start off.
I'm looking for an existing public/open-source React project which is not too hard to understand and has a good folder/file structure and code structure. Something that gives me an idea of how a good production level code and project should be.
Any recommendation is appreciated. Can be your own project too.
Thank you 😊.10 -
I managed to clean up the React part of my project, and now everything is smooth AF *.*
But boy oh boy did I fuck up big time, any console.log() written under the render section of anywhere was triggered around 4 times! I still have to rebuild everything (I only finished the dashboard so far) but it will be cleaner that I could ever hope2 -

I am more of a backend guy and was wondering what bullshit has been going on around Javascript, being mocked and memed around.
Then, I was asked to learn Javascript and ReactJS for front end in my project.
And then I realised, holy fucking mother of god, its fucking confusing. Whole new level shit piled right away on my face. I am newbie to front end and might be experiencing such issues, but I rarely had with other languages.

I got to work on this project written in PHP that is literally unsalvageable so I will need to redo it from scratch, it's an e-commerce/social network mix that allows you to resell your clothes and I will have to work with PHP-only server-side so I was looking for a JS framework that has all these cool features like Angular but does not require node.js and I stumbled upon React and Vue and I can't decide between them. I was wondering if anyone knows both of these frameworks and could help me decide which one to use. (I have almost no knowledge about these frameworks)
PS: The server-side will be PHP with MySQL because that's the only option that the client's hosting offers.7 -
So I am making a real time chat app using MERN and socket.io but I was disappointed to discover that the newer version of socket.io ie 2.2.0 fails overtime on Chrome.
There is an issue open on the socket.io repo addressing this. Didn't they fucking test the code for Chrome before releasing a new update?8 -
I understand that front end frameworks are important when scaling an app/project but it’s not a necessity for small student projects.
Can someone make me understand how a student can make use of the frontend frameworks not just for the sake of learning it but the framework actually being a necessity4 -
Javascript is actually a weird language which I dunno why I like a lot.
new Date() in NodeJS gives a different value, while new Date() in the browser console(so react js and normal js) gives a different value.
I dunno if my online searching skills are bad but I didn't find anyone addressing this online. Lol I had to create a manual work around for it then.7 -
My team for the uni project is quite big (8 people) and we need to create a progressive web app. The problem is I am the only one who know some JavaScript and I am not even good at it. Does somebody have tips how to learn web dev quickly?4

"Guys best idea to fuc... help the javascript developers. We make a framework with its own events/states and it will not change inputs or anything unless specified in state. Clearly easier to test... I mean how hard can it be?
Even better our framework will be so fuc... Helpfull that they will put an plugin so they can make it work... I mean improve...
Did i say we just throw the html and put everything in our own butchered way? Even better remember that easy
, Style= ? Hahaha we will make it an object...
O yeah and the state must be immutable objects... What immutable means? Who the fu... I mean its easy...
And we make our own virtual dom because... Fu browsers"

When react says "Module Not Found" then you realise that you have to add a period infront of the forward slash 😒

Just got handed over a web app, built in reactjs, previous dev never implemented redux in it and doesn't grasp the concept of a key-value store (using couchdb) for data storage. Is it ok if I kill myself now?
Some context:
Each data object used within the app looks something like:
{
Key: {actual value object with loads of data},
Value: null

I have a question, let's say I have a website and app both using oAuth facebook login. Should I save the access token provided by facebook in my database and if I should, what will happen to the access token when user logins with facebook on website and then login again with the app? is that mean access token is going to be overwritten by new login? and do you have any other suggestions for 0auth integration?3

I am working on vuejs for a year
And every company offers me to work with them on Reactjs and i am unable to leave current job.2 -
Can't decide whether I like React or not. Hated it in the beginning, then sort of started liking it and even thinking it was great just to fall back to the dislike stage again where I roll my eyes and think it's a messy, crowded pile of shit that breaks with all sorts of good software principles. This has fluctuated up and down for over 3 years.
It's the only language/technology/framework I have had this experience with. Weird.10 -
Hey! I have to build a website using ReactJS and OAuth. Does anyone have tips/links/advice or things NOT to do?
I can't fuck this one up guys...9 -
Last year, I wasn't able to make something theorically simple with CSS3 animations and ReactJS. Last night, I made it work with VueJS (and CSS3 animations yeah). Feels. So. Fuckin. Good.3

There is a Facebook group I’m a part of called “ReactJS Expert Community” and I can tell you it’s filled with anything but experts. Someone just posted on it asking what the difference between Axios and async/ await is. The only reason I’m part of this group is so I can feel good about myself when I screw up while coding xP

A couple of months ago I bought a two year licence for PHPStorm but shortly after I started this new job as React Web developper and everyone in my new team has been using Visual Studio Code with a specific set of plugins and settings which make I my premium IDE useless.

Ant.design repo and website just got deleted. It‘s still on npm and there is a mirror on a chinese github fake but this is serious.
I have the weird feeling that this is a political issue.
I will not use or support platforms that are under control of the chinese government (gitee).
The only right thing to do now seems to ditch Ant.d (at least in future projects). Maybe I shouldn‘t trust or use chinese software at all.5 -

Still can't find a fuckin job, I've been learning React for the past three months, I'm a fresh graduate but I worked with other frameworks in the past such as .NET, I made multiple projects and uploaded them on github still nothing, seems like companies r only willing to hire seniors.31

Hey all,
Need some ReactJS help:
So I was able to redo a browser extension project to fit my needs for my browser proxy project, however for some reason, the original source code doesn't seem to know the Setup class for the setup page. Webpack is not the issue but it seems it can't find the exported class, which makes the browser extension unusable. I hope you can help with my silly screwup.

Any ReactJS developer here? Just wanted to ask, how do you handle SEO with ReactJS SPA? Do you follow any tutorial to convert it to SSR? Or do you just use NextJS instead?

Quite confused between choosing one out of two job opportunities
Little background - I am currently working on my own startup/project. I have been thinking of taking a break from it, for now, for various reasons, pick a job, earn some more experience and money, and get back to my gig after couple of months.
18 months ago, I had to choose a framework. I decided to go with Vuejs, and I feel, I made the correct choice. My motive was not to select a framework for job market or prepare for job, but to learn the best framework for project ( Good learning curve, easy, and fast )
Just recently, I got internship opportunity at two good startups (one YC selected and one funded), one using Vuejs and other Reactjs, which will be converted into full-time job.
The advantage with vuejs startup is, I am good with vuejs and looking to use it in future also. But with reactjs startup, I will have to dive deeper in reactJs in coming 2-3 weeks, which I don't think I am going to use in future for personal projects.
Compensation of reactjs startups looks more than vuejs company. Around 20-30% more. Vuejs company had asked for 3 month internship, while reactjs company will decide to convert it to full-time in a month.
Have anything to say ??
*Vuejs is adapted from and bit similar to angular and reactjs*1 -
Joined a new company as front end developer after working for a legal tech for 3 years. The codebase is shit here. There is this ReactJS developer who has done everything except for following standard code practices. No modularity, no reusable components. Some files go beyond 2000 lines of codes. It is a literal nightmare.
The worst part is, he does not understand that he has written the worst code. I dunno how to handle this now.8 -
Thank you React...for making easy things easier, hard things easier, and medium level things so flipping overkill that somewhere in the world a developer loses their wings every time you type "setState".

Noob question
I’m trying to deploy my front end web app (my personal website) to GitHub pages.
In my app, I used react environment variables to store a api key I need in my app.
When I deploy my app with GitHub pages, will the app still be able to access the react env variables?
Let me know if that doesn’t make sense. Thanks!7 -

How do i prepare myself for speaking at conferences like jsconf, reactconf, nodejsconf??

A few days ago, I thought, "I haven't updated React dependencies since. So, let's do it". Because, its gonna be a new demo app, I just ran "npx create-react-app my-app" and npm start inside the project. Holy cow!! It doesn't even start!!
Its showing this unknown error! So, I googled. but after trying a lot of "Solutions" it still doesn't work. So, I just gave up and thinking, "What about the Frameworks/Libraries build on top of ReactJS? Do the also have the same problem?"
So, I created a NextJS project and you guessed it, The same error exists in the NextJS projects. Then I tried the popular boilerplates created using NextJS ( and React) and Volla! They also contain the same error!
Ugghhh! I thought, tonight I'm gonna play with NextJS a little bit. But unfortunately, because of this React Error, I can't :(4 -
Hi there!
What do you guys think about the feature "ContextApi" released with React 16.3?
From my point of view it is pretty neato to get rid of some dependencies coming up with redux, if the only thing you want is to distribute collected information among several components for rendering.
On the other hand, if one replaces the redux pattern with the context-api, the detailed information for debugging will be lost, including the time-travelling feature.
For compensation, there is a guy who had built a bridge between the context-api and the redux dev tools, which even will restore the ability to time-travel through the information flowing through the react context.
https://medium.freecodecamp.org/rep...
I will definitely try out a migration of our redux structure to context-api in an experimental branch of one of our products! -
I've made a react component to make the Conditional Renders look better.

So I got hired by a new client as a front end dev and I’m supposed to start a project from scratch. I asked (since it’s a new project) if it makes a difference if I use Angular or React and he said “technically not” but then in the following days he said he wants to use Angular with some lame reasons that’s it’s a full framework etc etc. I used both but obviously prefer React because well I’m not an idiot. Come to figure out he knows nothing about React but has used Angular before. What a FUCKING surprise 👏 👏 👏
Why can’t people decide objectively instead of just sticking with what they know. -
So been doing a freelance project for the past week, small backend API with a front-end, thought I'll give react.js a shot and actually learn it (know a bit of the basics) so using MERN including tailwindcss.
Built the API in a few days, quick and easy. Down to react, not going to lie. Once you dive into it, it's really nice to use. Just tackled a contact form and a few dynamic pages using props, state etc today. Now onto the rest of the site including the the Dashboard to CRUD records.
Still have a lot to learn. But given what I've learned so far. Don't see it taking too much longer.
Famous last words though 😅 -
In regards to my last string of posts regarding react and Auth, I got it working the bearer token is being passed but now just getting XML errors every time I submit a form. All the data being passed is JSON. I've created a stackoverflow question https://stackoverflow.com/questions... as I'm getting nowhere and SO really isn't helping either. So if anyone wants to take a stab, go for it.11

So the next Flutter event is on December 4th which means Flutter 1.0 is around the corner. Flutter is amazing with a very neat idea it has ReactJS like state management and everything is a Widget even the app itself. So i was thinking what else could we expect? React Native has Flutter, but what about React JS? I think Google might introduce a Competitor for ReactJS something like Flutter Web or FlutterJS which can work on parallel/similar to Flutter but for the web of course, and also maybe give some news on the Fuchsia. What do you think? :)5
-
Life is too short to jump from A to B to add a click event to a button. When I was in college I thought by using angularjs it would give credit to my resume, now many companies look for reactjs, and that's just front end. Wtf technology!1

In the beginning there was Vanilla that generate HTML which felt in love with CSS .....it passes a long time thus this pure essences creates a lot of frameworks and libraries thus the time has passed and Angular make love with React saying each other "I LoVue" and thus generate Vue.... a Vue-tiful creature 😄1

Which editors are you guys using for Reactjs and which plugins? Should i switch to vscode from sublime? And why14

why the hell do we have frontend framework. the frontend meant to be as small as possible. Yet we introduce huge libraries just because some don't understand javascript. like seriously Facebook. you created reactjs because you couldn't create a simple messager3

Well, My firm has a CRM which is built on JSP and Java. They want to upgrade the frontend by using a modern technology. Which one is a great choice React or Angular?
For the backend, APIs need to be integrated and I need to select from PHP and NodeJS. The traffic right now is 100 hits/second and is expected to increase upto 1k/sec in 6months.
What is the best choice for the frontend, backend and I need to select a HTTP request client too.22 -
Just started with learning react, and with the little JavaScript knowledge I have I feel kinda overwhelmed.. I’m following a Udemy course which explains it all very well but as soon as an assignment presents itself it’s as if I have learned nothing.

I hate react, ok it is now a knows thing about me...
But i have to maintain a huuuuge app made on react.
And the old developer mixed the nodejs backend with the frontend... And it is already a russian doll mess in components, cuz he seems to develop it during 2 years and only after one year he discovered redux !
Gosh... For a lil simple feature there is so many files involved... Gonna go crazy !
Happy that at least client pay big money for that1 -

Angular || React || Ember || Kendo?

So I'm not sure what I should learn next. Developers love vue more than react. But I prefer to work remotely and I lost the count of how many job ads require React js experience. So I've been tackling the Multer package with express and react, Christ what a nightmare so far. I can't get anything to work.
- Images as array string in mongoDB check
- enctype on the form, check
- state for the field set to an array, check
- type file check
- express configuration based on the Multer docs check
Everything as far as I can tell is as it should be, yet nothing gets saved.

I think that Android native is great, but it takes too much time for a tiny progression, i might use one of the frameworks such as flutter or react native or even nativescript since I'm learnings vue js currently.

I just setup Jenkins locally for the first time to do some CI/CD for a project using docker. Then I upgraded the container to the latest version of Jenkins.
I am liking it so far but haven’t really setup anything significant yet.
Any of you ranters have experience with Jenkins?
- would you recommend it. Pros/cons?
- what resources did you use to setup and expand your pipelines?
- any experience with Google Cloud Platform and Jenkins.
These are kind of open ended questions to start a discussion on the topic.
Jenkins will be used at least for deploying the front end built in React. I may also use it for deployment if the Golang API but that uses Kubernetes at the moment. -
React, redux and electron. Why can't you be simple 😂.
Might consider writing a yeoman generator when I find something that works!1 -

Jsx , so much nesting, unreadable code. U need to create lots of components and reinvent the wheel everytime u need to add a litle tiny feature. No global logic (controller)
Raaaaah what a mess...4 -
Guys is that the case, that it is such a hassle to work with forms in React-Redux application?! Hell, it takes a lot of time to just create a simple form with like 3 lines of inputs.
Everytime I need to setup bunch of those Actions that will fire on a field value change, than selectors to pick from the state and send to the backend with redux-saga. OMG OMG OMG.
Redux-forms kind a struggle to setup too at first, but I guess I have to go for it anyway?1 -
Some of my first thoughts on the new 16.3 release of React...
New Context API:
- I’m glad they made the context API less scary, but as a redux user I will still be staying away from using context as a best practise.
Strict Mode:
- I like this a lot. React allows for great freedom in how you do things, but also offers the freedom to write some shit code that in the end does the job. A way to enforce best practises in JSX is good in my eyes.
New lifecycle methods:
- meh. Life moves on

Clearly in my code I use few methods like format, isAfter, and few more but he prefer to do things manually. I don't know what's in his head, I hate reinventing the wheel, I'm pissed when someone comment the use of such a widely used library.3 -
Hi guys, If you are front end dev (especially react dev) please read this and share your thoughts.
I recently started with react.js. But I didn't like the idea of nesting components. I know this is too early to talk about it. I'm not halfway through tutorials. But I'm loosing motivation to learn react.js
This never happened to me. I learned few frameworks in past. Django and codeigniter. They follow MVC/MVT architecture. And writing code in it looks cleaner and simpler.
In react JSX is confusing at first. You have to read same line twice or thrice to understand. I'm not saying JSX is bad, but it's not readable enough.
In early lessons I learnt that in react everything is component. And every component comes under one root component. Don't you guys think this well get messy for large application. You are dealing with number of nested components from one file into another.
I'm not against react. But the way react is forcing you to write code, is not something I enjoy. Let me know your thoughts. Maybe I'll get some kinda booster to continue react.1 -

[Shameless plug coming through - If your a curious developer keep reading]
After feeling like I was loosing so much time curating my way through blogs, social networks, and community forums to keep up with the latest programming news, I decided to create a side project to scratch my own itch. (Typical developer history XD)
The website is called StackTrender and it's basically a programming news aggregation that consumes articles from the web and curates them in terms of engagement (votes/likes, comments and social shares) to remove the "less interesting" articles and generate an easier to read news feed.
It's still a work in progress but, if you somehow related to my situation, feel free to take a look and comment with some feedback.
Thanks in advance.
