Cleaned up my email and deleted 45k emails and unsubscribed from ~80+ services and added ~100+ filters to sort and auto-delete new emails. Now I have no unread messages.16

I'm joining a startup next month and they are working on a project that requires knowledge of a unique framework and it's architecture. They know I'm mostly free this month and so they have asked me (in a time frame) to learn and perform certain tasks. They have also scheduled reviews to track progress.
tl;dr: Company wants me to learn stuff before joining and schedule reviews.
Is this behavior normal or/and appropriate?6 -
! Dev related rant
I rammed a knife into our fridge freezer to throw ice on my flatmate. And bam! I punchered the goddamn coil, now we've been without fridge for two days and I'm going to lose shit load of cash.
Off goes beer for a few weeks.7 -
Who the fuck congratulates themselves over email sent to others, these are the fuckers that will probably send you password in plaintext when you want to recover it.5

I found an old project on which I hadn't version controlled, so I decided to manually commit progress on a past date. Only problem GitHub calendar wouldn't show it.
I emailed them and because it was private repo I added them as contributor. Then I got this reply.15 -
I have a flatmate who has a different way of specifying how a girl looks . He calls a thin girl 'thin' and someone obese as 'healthy'.
' That thin girl is cute'
' Did you see Sharon, she's so healthy'7 -
Brave Browser introduced tor integration for private tabs. https://twitter.com/brave/status/...
Is security taking a toll when Tor network is accessed through not the actual Tor browser?2 -
Is it common to freak out frustrated to the core when you fuck up a project or dependency you've been working on for with full dedication, leading to question your decision of selecting the field, your achievements yet, the whole point of existence. Then suddenly fix it after two hours of pulling hair out and looking back feeling stupid?
This episode has repeated over and over recently. -
Advice needed!!
I had a telephonic conversation a few days ago with a startup and they said they would assign me a task the next day. At the end next day I emailed them asking about the task as they didn't assign me yet. They replied saying they would assign it the next day.
That day was yesterday and I still didn't get a task.*What do I do?* I don't want to look desperate but I'm in short of time and won't be able to manage if it gets more delayed.3 -
First experience with dotfiles today, absolutely loved working configuring it a bit, also first experience with shell. But honestly also felt very dumb and perhaps incompetent compared to other such repos. Anyhow my terminal is delightful to use now, that's probably somewhat good.1

Just found codereddit.com and it looks amazing way to camouflage. Do you think devRant requires similar version?2

This is one of my really passionate issue with the world, ** Food waste **
Isn't it the most dumbest problem? Every time a marriage, celebration, event happens at the end of the day a huge portion of the high quality food is just thrown into a dump. Does just picking up the trash or disposing the waste solve anything or is it just a way corporation schemed us to believe we are doing something for the world by disposing waste.5 -
Cannot pinpoint one advice as the best but the comments of this rant are the most helpful one's

During a recruitment procedure I was provided a IDE to solve some programming questions. The computer had a bunch of fuck all anti virus including avast, mcafee, it stopped every execution and scanned it for like 10sec.
McAfee fucking deleted the program for no reason giving a malicious code alert on a normal c++ program.
I called the sys Admin to inspect, guess what he did.
Fucking uninstall McAfee. Woow.7 -

Often when I walk down a street or take a suburban train, the sight of much less fortunate people being happy with the little things that we don't even bother like recently a old man bought a few vegetables for 10INR (17 cents) and he looked so happy.
At the other end I see people who have everything given to them and yet lack the slightest of satisfaction.
Homosapiens are sure a weird creature.2 -
Let's settle this:
Blockchain is just a dumb database, the feature that makes it amazing is trust-less ness.
Its not meant to make a decentralised uber or a Tic-tac-toe game.
Leverage the advantages of the system and solve real problem.5
