If Internet Explorer is brave enough to ask you to make it your default browser, you're brave enough to ask that girl out.6
Ah yes, Brave, the browser that "respects your privacy" has started putting ads directly *in* the browser.
When they introduced Brave Rewards and people were confused why I was upset, it's because I knew it was a slippery slope to toward this sort of thing.
So many things wrong with this. Can't wait to stop leasing away my devices' resources to advertisers.28
Just decided to try brave browser. Not to actually try it out but to see if it calls home or not and what the default search engine is.
As for a browser which advertises itself as very privacy friendly, I would expect it to not call home and have at least duckuckgo or searx as default search engine.
5-6 calls home every damn time I open it and google is the default search engine.
How the fuck would you call that privacy friendly?!24
I'm afraid that the wanketeers got a hold of this one.. as if I care how fast or slow your browser is, as long as it isn't completely shit like pre-Quantum Firefox used to be! And does it even make the slightest bit of sense when there's nice and snappy websites like the motherfucking websites, but a shitload of shitsites that load several dozens of frameworks, because long live Web 2.0. 22% faster, ON WHAT?!14
brave browser… smh.
i read through the whole homepage and you put "open source" at the bottom
next time please start with that6
I've got a rant-type question:
Why would you EVER use Google Chrome?
There are a million browsers in the world, you could've used Firefox, Opera, Vivaldi, Brave, Bad Wolf, Qute, st, Epiphany etc, but you chose to uss Google Chrome.
What would be the reason you would ever choose Google Chrome over any of the million browsers, out of which many of them get the job done much better than Chrome? Okay, I get it why you might use IE or Edge, cause you might be too lazy to install any other browser or you just want the performance benefits you get with Edge which totally, most definatelly, a very big plus point for Edge.
*"Chrome has a balanced-bloat out of all browsers"*
But how tf does that matter? That doesn't even help performance wise anyways.
I can't get over the fact that I have to see/hear about 'Chrome hogging RAM' EVERYWHERE. Like, why do you even care about the god damn browser? Why is it a standard over the million other browsers that exist? Why can't the general public be educated that browsers have choices (just like phones) and you don't have to spit crap over people who don't use Chrome.
It just drives me crazy of how many people hate Chrome, and still it's a 'default' browser.
I would quote Vivaldi (the company/browser):
'A browser should adapt to you, not the other way around.'
(Disclaimer: Rant of a former Firefox, qute, st, Opera, OperaGX, Edge, and ofcourse, Chrome user. Currently in deep love with Vivaldi.)
I'm done ranting. Have a nice day!
(My first post here, if I did something wrong, let me know! I'll make sure I don't do it again!)58
One more reason to hate Windows - Changing default browser will be made difficult in Windows 11. Thank you Microsoft
When Internet Explorer is brave enough to ask to be your standart browser you should be brave enough to ask your girl out!4

So a friend of mine is starting to learn PHP and HTML and he tells me:
"I wrote some code in HTML but I can't run it through the browser"
I'm not brave enough to tell him you can't "run" HTML
But later, he told me "so now i'm writing PHP just to understand how it works, but don't want to install the program to run PHP"
How the fuck you gonna learn?
I already know I'm gonna have to build what he wants to do :/ at least a couple thousand euros incoming :D2
Brave Browser was found hardcoding referral links to partnered Crypto sites, even if you manually type the URL.
Since then , they have fixed the bug but it's hard to trust Brave again.
Privacy is built on trust. I have recommended Brave to my friends and family and seeing news like this , makes me skeptical about the company.8
A few Questions I have to decide soon, for tools I never used:
1- How do you guys keep information about several accounts and stuff? Must have some protection to not be easily accessible (started using Google Notepad and Evernote until I find better... don't really like them)
2- Firefox: Is there a way to store groups of open tabs?
Like I have one windows with 6 or 7 tabs for movies (youtube and such), other for general stuff with 5 or 6 tabs, other with Arduino shit, and I'm going to pick Vue soon and another language to build native apps and that will be a lot more tabs, It would be nice to close them all and open them all at will or something.
3 - What Is your favorite browser? I'm using Firefox, but there are so many new good ones... Like Brave browser with Tor incorporated, or Puffin for Android (which uses a VPN with their own server by default)
4 - For windows users, do you have any tools to help with workflow installed? which ones you use and why?
5 - What I'm using: Google Notepad + Evernote to save stuff, Windows 10 and Firefox, (Linux Mint in VM) and I just keep my shortcuts in folders... I don't use the Windows taskbar for a long while since its so full of shit.
6 - How do you do your backups? Right now I'm just putting my code and important stuff in Dropbox.
I'm an old school programmer... Stuck in 1990's Ideas and there is so muchhhh shit these days that I would prefer your opinions then just googling.
Guess that's enough for this post. Thank you guys29
Well after a month with Brave web browser I'm forced to go back to Firefox. It's way unstable, too many bugs and glitches and lacks some add-ons1
Trying brave browser. So far so good. A few buts though.
Importing bookmarks, saved passwords and such works fine but you can't import stuff saved in the storage, which is a bummer.
Also, advertising it as a browser where you get paid/rewarded for viewing ads is a bit disingenuous. At a rate of 2 cents per ad (max 5 per day), it's like saying a breadcrumb is equivalent to half a slice of white bread.
Haven't been able to enable picture in picture mode, which is also a bummer.
An integrated torrent client inside the browser is kinda cool though!
That aside, it does run faster overall.8
recently, after the Firefox addon controversy, many Firefox users have switched to another browser for a few days or permanently. If you've also switched from Firefox to something else, please let me know why did you choose that browser & if not what is holding you back to Firefox.
For me, I've been using brave since the addon controversy. Brave is okay but still needs a lot of things to improve. I'm also missing the separate address bar and search bar of Firefox and some keyboard shortcuts. what about you? Please comment your opinion. Thanks.21
Trying Brave browser as my default on my phone. So went ahead and disabled chrome as I can't uninstall it.
And so many apps lost there shit, LinkedIn 9Gag etc. all started crashing.
Google misusing there Monopoly or just bad app code, I wonder14

Since when has Brave based on the Chromium base been the main download?
Today my legacy Brave based on their own base crashed and as it seemed unrecoverable, I tried reinstalling. But now I'm stuck with this crappy Chromium based browser... I hate the non tab-pages and lack of tab peeking.
I initially had the Dev channel version but only as a backup for my main Brave because I realized how crappy it was, safe in knowing that at the time the main download was the old Brave Core. Now I'm really annoyed.2
If Internet Explorer is brave enough to ask you to be your default browser,
then you are brave enough to ask that girl out.
Wait... I'm an introvert, Never mind!1
Having a look at ‘brave’ the new browser on the block over the coming weeks. It looks great on paper. Saying that it’s 8 times faster than chrome/safari. wondering what it’s dev tools will be like.
I just experienced something on MacOS that I thought was a Windows/Chrome type thing. Brave Browser, a huge RAM-suck bigger than Chrome, didn't make my computer slow. However, my Mac automatically opened both iTunes and Safari, the equivalent of a forced update, and suddenly my computer gets the spinning wheel of death, the equivalent of a BSOD. I'm now wondering what is wrong with those programs that they use so much RAM to get the spinning wheel.
And before anyone does the obligatory "Use Linux" comment, I've been meaning to switch for awhile already and just haven't gotten around to it.3
Brave Browser introduced tor integration for private tabs. https://twitter.com/brave/status/...
Is security taking a toll when Tor network is accessed through not the actual Tor browser?2
If Internet Explorer is brave enough to ask you to be your default browser, you should be brave enough to ask your crush out.
My computer after installing Solus has some pretty weird behavior.
It is with the keyboard and the mouse. The keyboard often writes the highlighted part, which is super annoying, because I have this habit of using the highlighted feature as a scrollbar, so if I am using this feature to scroll in the terminal, when I am editing, the keyboard will paste the content of the highlighted text when I am typing randomly, which is why I have to highlight a space, and also why I have to put my cursor to where I am typing to prevent it from randomly teleporting. And the mouse often left click / right click randomly, and sometimes the cursor has a seizure.
This is not something that happens to me recently. It has been happened to me when I was using Manjaro (which was way long ago), and at that time only the seizure cursor is happened. Now more stuff happened, and they are happening more frequently than ever.
The Internet on my computer is also terrible today, I cannot access to any website on the browser (Until now). I first thought that it's my browser (Brave)'s fault and I tried on Firefox, also not working. I tried to reconnect to the Wi-Fi, reboot the computer, nothing worked. Then I think of switching between Wi-Fis, because it's a strat that worked with my phone, and surprisingly, it worked!
(I really don't know what to end this rant, so I will just put this text here as a way to end the rant.)
What are your most favourite apps (other than the standard social media ones)? Would love if you could attach screenshots of your setup!
I'll start. Mine are Feed.ly, Pocket Casts, Splitwise, Spotify, Medium, Brave Browser, Eatigo, Orbot and Soundcloud.3
Started using Brave browser coz my bf wouldn’t shut up about it. Consumes much less memory than both chrome and firefox which is cool. Still haven’t figured out the in-built vpn yet. Cool i can import data from my firefox like my bookmarks and shit and I understand why I can’t import my saved passwords but damn i wish i could. I don’t know my passwords to anything anymore thanks to browsers beautifully saving my passwords and i am just frustrated having to go and copy passwords. This relationship with brave is clearly not going to last coz wtf3
