The face of confusion my boss made when I suggested the development of a simple "api" (one end point) to solve a particular issue we faced after improving our infrastructure made me realize I need to abandon this ship...
He really can't wrap his head around calling a URL and doing something on a server although that's what we do every fucking day...2 -
Dev: So we need around $50-100 a month to activate and use some key services that would greatly reduce our backend complexity. Would this fit into our budget? Actually, we've never really discussed in general what sort of tech budget we have to work with...
Management: UNTIL WE HAVE SUSTAINABLE REVENUE, OUR TECH BUDGET IS 0
FullStackClown: 0? Are you serious? You can't spare a few hundred dollars TOTAL over the next 3 months until our next round of funding clears?
Management: ALSO WE ARE REALLY GOING TO NEED YOUR HELP TO FIND PRODUCT MARKET FIT FROM THE TECH SIDE
FullStackClown: Oh no... we've gotten to the classic point where they think tech is the thing that will solve their problems... abandon ship...7 -
The system is fucked. Can't abandon ship, but let's pray that I can make my own system out of it, or rather, translate it, without too many issues. 🤞
P.S. I swore at this computer way too many times. I don't think I'll survive the robotic apocalypse at this rate. 😬4 -
To all those who want to abandon ship like a sheep without thinking.....................
Sometimes reading the reasoning behind GitHub acquisition helps.9 -
I got tired of relearning JavaScript frameworks and instead tried to escape their clutches.
Most of my developer life I've spent relearning how to do the same thing in a different framework.
And every three or four years its the same story, figure out templating, figure out building, complain on github bugs etc.
I am trying to reduce framework fatigue by allowing you to think "can I make my application with just vanilla JavaScript". The advantage of vanilla JavaScript is it write once - do not need to rewrite.
Do YOU think I will abandon ship and end up having to use a framework again?19 -
I came back to work after a two week vacation to find out that some people left the company and others are leaving soon.
What the fuck happened while I was gone?3 -
I'm surprised management allows us to write false positive tests just to have high coverage instead of refactoring it first. Time to abandon ship.

Ever since i joined my company, things are getting worse.
from small details like them abandoning team lunches to big ones like the fact no one or at least i didnt get any bonus this year.
I know for a fact bonuses were a thing before i joined and i was really looking forward to it...
And now by the end of the month we will recieve word about whether we are getting acquired or not...
After reading this rant one would think the company is getting bankrupt, and this worries me because this job was best i could ever ask for, i dont wanna abandon ship :/1 -
Did some contract negotiations with the company I work for a couple of months ago, when they offered me a promotion starting next month ... today I got the contract. Only one of the terms we have agreed is in the contract, of course that benefits them. No word about any promotion etc. Wrote to the guy in charge today but no answer so far. Should I just abandon ship or am I just to worried?4
