Fuck mysql charset shit. Pretty easy to forgot setting charset in server side config file. And after creating several databases/tables, boom! All in latin1. That's just so convenient. are you kidding me? Why would any modern database have their default charset to be latin1??? rather than utf8? Oh, just forgot again, that's utf8fuckingmb4 on mysql land.6

In my uni course "Algorithms and Data structures" we use Java. Fine. Definitely not my preferred language but it's not like I have a choice.
Anyway, our teacher uploads code files for us to use as reference/examples. The problem is, they look like this. Not only does she not indent the code, she also uses a charset that is not utf-8.
In the rare cases where she does indent the code, she uses THREE, yes THREE spaces...24 -
Atlasssian Bitbucket has broken umlauts since version 8.0 ...
https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/...
Ladies and gentleman,
it's the year 2022.
In the internet, dat "Neuland" as Mama Merkel used to say, Atlassian managed to revert back to the good old times of ASCII.
Who needs proper multibyte charset support anyway?
Just display broken shit - as broken as the quality management of that misanthropic chum bucket company called Atlassian.
Oh and the last upgrade to Confluence broke, too.
Was just very needed because of an remote code execution.
Cause you know the usual deal. Oops zero exploit, let's make it public, telling our customers that in cloud their data is safe, otherwise they need to shut off their instances or pray that they have a WAF that can filter strings...
What broke you might ask?
Unique constraint in database, the migration wizard loved to add few extra rows, solution was to fry the rows while instance running, followed by immediate cache drop, otherwise fun started again.
I hate Atlassian.4 -
I wish eclipse would use an useful charset like UTF-8, instead of the windows-1252 charset. I feel like he only propose of this damm thing is to give germans a harder time coding

I feel bad for trying to implement emoji support in our web application, but yeah #2017..
And damn, php + mysql + emojis.. What a pain in the ass.

Is it just me or is encoding in 15.9.3 broken AGAIN when using .editorconfig to set the charset?.......

SCSS for my personal website:
@charset "UTF-8";
@import "C:///xampp/htdocs/...";
They both use a customised MDL and this way I can maintain code much easier.5 -
This is a question and a rant
I have to get temperature readings from an andriod app written in ionic angular to a webpage written apache wicket... No, I don't have any control over either stack.
The kicker is the wicket app isn't even run properly attached to a domain, it's just run from a box at the client and then the client machines connect through <server ip>:8080/appname
Which means I can't solve my problem by simply having the website and app on the same domain and then use local storage...
I have tried
Ionic
window.postMessage({ type: 'temperatureData', data: tempFormatted }, '*');
Test it from this page
<!-- index.html (web page) -->
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html lang="en">
<head>
<meta charset="UTF-8">
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1.0">
<title>Web Page</title>
</head>
<body>
<h1>Temperature Data</h1>
<p id="temperatureData">Loading...</p>
<script>
// Listen for messages from the Ionic app
window.addEventListener('message', (event) => {
if (event.data.type === 'temperatureData') {
// Update the temperature data on the page
document.getElementById('temperatureData').textContent = event.data.data;
}
});
</script>
</body>
</html>
Which does not work, the page fails to pick the data.
So my rant is the situation. M question is does anyone have any ideas?7 -
Ok so that's my plan, find a kernel with HUGE amout of drivers and , high version.
I built a small os based on linux
-- kernel version 5.0.2 from Plop Linux,
many libraries added 'by hand' -- packages from apts of Debian&Ubuntu, and unpacked packages into system with ArchiveManager,
has GUI but it's called xfree86 ( looks strange when a very old app running on Kernel5 )
So, without compiling, i can make a os.
But i found that Plop didn't compile rtl8188eu module which makes linux support some specific network cards.
I have no professional compiler but a tiny C/Cpp compiler called TinyCC (aka. tcc), but for my pc ( CPU freq = 800MHz ), it seems not possible to compile the module by myself.
And then i downloaded a 5.2 kernel with modules from kernel.ubuntu.com, but when i tried to mount my disk ( part. vfat ), i got some errors like IO charset not found, and then i replaced it with Xanmod kernel but also reported an error said Invalid Arguments, but i checked /proc/filesystems, it supports.
So what can i do? Are there any pre-compiled kernel & modules with 'full common supports'?
I tried kernel 4.4 ( from Ubuntu 16.04 LTS ) just now but the driver crashed when wpa_supplicant tried to initialize the device.7
