Search - "martial arts"
Martial arts. Learned to think calmly under stressful situations. Whether that's deadline or a fat fuck laying on top of you trying to choke you out.1
I'm wondering - do developers have similar hobbies outside of IT?
For example, my main hobbies are:
- Brewing Beer
- Distilling Spirits
- Drinking copius amounts of alcohol to numb the pain of being a developer
- Gardening / Horticulture
- Martial Arts31
Welp, here it goes:
High school is feeding me a huge amount of shit that I do not care about. This, causes me not to have enough time to carry on my own programming and infosec studies due to a lack of time, despite the fact that I'm pretty organized. Among all that, is the fact that I have 3 weekly martial arts training in the evening, which equals to even less time.
I am starting to feel quite shitty about this situation, and no, I'm not going to wait precious years of my life before continuing with my studies.
Let's hope I'll pull through. :(3
I've decided to stop with boxing and start with a new combination. Muay Thay with judo. Maybe I will do bjj after mastering judo, too.17
Just started to make some UI designs in sketch to try it out at least once. I have to admit, it makes a lot of fun ^^5
Any devs out here who are into martial arts training ?
It's been a month since I joined kickboxing classes. However , I have never met a fellow dev who is into martial arts. What about you guys ?15
Ah I love that movie.. Hero, from 2002. I've seen it in the cinema three times. It's a real marvel, especially the scene where the forest turns red right after Snow killed Moon.
I also like how the quotes are adaptable:
Martial arts and programming are quite different, but they are based on the same principle: striving for highest perfection.
The essence of programming reveals itself through study and meditation.
(The latter one is also one of my favourite lines at work when being asked how come I know some esoteric stuff: it revealed itself through study and meditation.)5

So, this real-world friend teach me about dui so yesterday. I guess this thing is applicable in virtually anything. Thanks for teach me...
The point is don't overdo anything. Keep a sane amount of effort, even for coding....1
