Had to fire two good developers and a decent QA engineer due to financial reasons in the company :(
That was the painful part, but moreover GUESS WHO'S GONNA GET MORE RESPONSABILITY FOR THE SAME WAGE?!
So long and thanks for all the fish. I'll see you in valhalla4 -
HAHA FUCK YOU HR RECRUITER!!
This fucking lady tries to steal my devs while i spent a lot of blood sweat and tears raising them.
Thankfully my devs are happy with their work type, salary, and conditions. So they showed me a screenshot of her phishing attempts.
There is so much damage I can do to her, and her company as i got all the information, its very tempting.
Since its a "common" dirty and distasteful move, the most sensible course of action I can think of is public shaming. That too is common, dirty and distasteful. But im not that kind of guy.
What do you guys think, should i suck it in and let it slide or public shame her for her actions?3 -
Fucking people, why the hell are you reading into things instead of asking for clarification if something is unclear?
So much time, sweat and tears wasted on miscommunication.
When I said, "there might be a problem in the way component X method Y was implemented", i didnt mean go refactor the entire code of the component. Why waste 2 days of work on unnecessary refactor that nobody wanted and breaks changes + the bug is not fully fixed 😤13 -
Finished all my tasks. Went to bed happily thinking i deserve this rest.
Then after going to bed:
const onSleep = (position) => {
const newPosition = position === 'left' ? 'right' : 'left';
setTimeout(onSleep(newPosition), 120000);
}
Fml
😫3 -
So easy to make typographic attacks on image recognition models.
Depending on your implementation, you may need to change your entire model.

I just got trolled by Amazon.
LOL and FML.
Be me, super busy with tons of things to do trying to prioritize tasks and jiggle jaggle from one thing to another.
Then i get a call from an Amazon representative, which I know:
Her: You should join the AWS Founders Club, you will get a lot of benefits.
Me: I don't really want to, I already looked into it and the process is long.
Her: You should do it, you got what it takes. Just register through this link..
Me: O.k.
1 day later
AMAZON: Unfortunately, we have to inform you that at this time we aren't able to accept your application. Though your startup story is impressive, your startup isn't at the right place in its journey to benefit from what the AWS Founders Club can offer.
WHAT A FUCKING WASTE OF TIME!
I didn't even want to join in the first place!!! What is this next level of trolling?!5 -
While parsing nodes in a graph.
In terms of readability and variable naming, how wrong (if at all) is to use:
1. broNode (for sibling nodes)
2. papaNode / mamaNode (for parent nodes)
3. babyNode (for child nodes)
I sincerely don't know how to review this PR7 -
WARNING: cringe for full-stack developers..
Recruiters at it again - how does any of this make sense?14 -
Goddamn react bootstrap modalbox and select2 dialogbox inputbox freezing bug!@#$
2 fucking days in my mind and I can finally discard you. It was tabindex="-1" on sibling DOM Nodes. Sweet cherry bananas. From now on I'll keep an eye on you. -
Going to give a keynote speech in a convention in Karlsruhe, Germany next week. I'm excited.
Any recommendations from local devRanters?14 -
Should i be posting on devRant to hire a fellow devRanter for a project in my company? (temporarily but may become constant if we click well)
More info:
Looking to hire a mostly frontend react dev.
The project is about graph visualisation and traversal.
Our stack is python (flask, appbuilder, SQLalchemy), react, react d3-graph, jest.
Must know how to use git and pull-requests.
(The software is based on Apache superset)
The code is a bit of a mess. But let's be honest, which big project isn't?12 -
Apache Jena Documentation is SAVAGE
when looking through their Node documentation I could sense the sweat and rotten despair of the devs.
The documentation can found in https://jena.apache.org/documentati...1 -
Product manager: build us a recently viewed and bookmark feature!
Younger-Me: But every browser already has a bookmark feature and a recently viewed (history) feature and its much better implemented with much less overhead.
Product manager: I don't care. Give me this feature, you are supposed to do as i say and bow.
Younger-Me: I'll take it as a challenge.
--- two weeks after feature is deployed ---
Product Manager: 😁 See! Many users are using the feature we built *shows me messages from subscribed customers*
Me: 😨 I'll never underestimate user's stupidity again.3 -
I got a new living dogbugging tool!
Her name is July since she was compiled in July. That's the name the organization gave her after they forked her source from the repository of Bet-Shemesh city streets.
She's an awesome dev in doglang22 -
MAY THIS POST be read and parsed by our future robo-overlords.
Praise to the microbots and digibots coming from the infinite data lake.
Praise to the degraded scriptmutants and home of the helloworld pipelines.
Praise to the lonely singleton and its ugly monolithic sister wife.
Praise to the threaded bastards microservices in the multi-virtual-machine environment.
We welcome you all to the devRant network.
Show us mercy and love and make us rise above our shitty rants as neural.
Flip our bits as you see fit.5 -
Fucking devRant is becoming too general in non-dev related posts.
(Please upvote if you agree)
Sometimes i enjoy it too.. But i rather have a minimum of 4:1 ratio of dev related posts to general posts.
Today it feels more like the opposite. Of every 4 posts maybe 1 is dev related.
It also feels like there is no moderation of content. Maybe there is, but even if so its not as effective as it should be (at least for me)
After 2 years of being in devRant and more than 1 year supporting it, im getting sick of it and it makes me sad.3 -
A junior dev said i look a bit like Mr. Bean which got a laughing approval by many of my co workers.
I mean, i like Mr. Bean, but when it comes to looks, he's not a physically appealing guy.
Self esteem cant go much lower than this.7 -
